Grand Hotel Plaza & Locanda Maggiore

This has been a very grand hotel in its time, marble everywhere.
Very friendly staff, reception, bar, dining room
Food great , only complaint too much!!!!
Room and bathroom great, recently tidied up.
Pool area great, even water jets in pool.
Very central location on the square handy for everything in the town of Monticatini.
Local trains great for Florrence, Pisa and Lucca.

Great rooms and staff! The hotel is located in a quiet location and it has almost everything you want to have. The prices are a littleeee bit upper than normal, but it's Italy so it's okay. (The small bottle of water (0.50mL) costs around 1.50€. Idk if it's the normal price for there, but in Greece the same bottle costs 0.50€ 😛)

My wife and I stayed here back in 2019. Had planned to come back 2020. But we all know what happened in 2020 Covid.
Now September 2023. We were back. Had a week here at this lovely hotel.
Rooms have the old-world charm . But it goes with the beautiful setting. Hotel its self is the front and centre of the main square. Only a 5 minute stroll to the main train station. Staff at the hotel are super nice and friendly. They can never do enough for their guests. We didn't eat in the hotel this trip. As there are many amazing eateries right outside the door. My wife and I will be back next year and for many years to come. We fallen in love with this small town.

Staff is very friendly. They actually want to to have a nice stay. The location is great, just a 5 minute walk to the train station. Our room had a ceiling that must have been 20 feet high. Great size bathroom. Enjoyed the breakfast. The elevator is small, but the building is old, so it matches perfectly. Highly recommended. Park in the blue spots at night for free. You can buy the pass from the front desk for day parking

We stayed here for a week and it was amazing! The hotel workers were awesome. The breakfast is unlike any breakfast I have seen before. I loved going to happy hour because the bartender was so nice! The restaurant there had awesome food! This is the hotel to stay at to experience that area of Montecatini terme.

I stayed in this hotel in September 2022 and came back in April 2023 with four friends because of the location, and cleanliness but most especially the wonderful staff. Valentina and her colleagues at reception were so friendly and helpful and the staff at breakfast were exceptionally efficient as they had to deal with large numbers at peak breakfast times
We all felt that other hotels and hospitality services could learn a lot from these wonderfully efficient and effective professionals

All in all, a great hotel. The location was fantastic. We were fortunate enough to have been provided a corner room, and it contained huge windows and great views of the surrounding area. Another place we would of course consider visiting again.

Amazingly European experience. The rooms are not lavish, the water has a slight smell to it, the elevator is tiny, parking is a pain...and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is an excellent place to stay right in the heart of Montecatini Terme. If you get a room on the upper level, you can have great views of the countryside. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and speak English very well. The morning breakfast is delicious and offers a variety for you. Highly, highly recommended.

Not everyone would give this 5 stars... It was built many years ago and some elements are a little dated, but we loved our accommodations here. The location is perfect... Right on the main square and close to everything in Montecatini. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming. The front desk staff was helpful beyond our expectations. The room was small by US standards but large enough for our needs and clean. The bathroom was modern and nearly as large as the bedroom. Make sure you visit the bar for your favorite libation or coffee and introduce yourself to Mariano... He was full of local knowledge, directions and overall kind and helpful. We will be back to visit Montecatini and we've already know where we'll stay... The Grand Hotel Plaza & Locando.

Great hotel! Wonderful breakfast, the dinner smelled wonderful (although we never went), very clean and inviting rooms, and the housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room tip top. Very lively square at night and alot of choices for food and drink. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in Montecatini!

We loved staying here and were treated very well. The woman who kept our room did an excellent job and went above and beyond for us. The breakfast offered was exceptional and the pool had an amazing view. We were very impressed.

Clean and comfortable. Staff very courteous and friendly. Food was excellent. Location very handy to the shops, restaurants and railway station.

Great experience and wonderful staff! Hotel food and service was 1st class. Lots of stores and cafe's within walking distance. Our hostess Natale was awesome! Ideal location for your travels if you want to hit southern parts of Italy ex. Pisa, Lucca, Monte Carlo, Buggiano. All well within train or driving distance. We even drove to Venice from here.

Very elegant hotel. Love the surrounding area. We were supposed to have either adjoining or rooms across from our children and they didn't provide it. Our children were placed down the hall from us. When we ask to be moved they were booked and couldn't do it.

Older hotel, but very nicely kept up. Staff is friendly and helpful. Right on beautiful piazza with central location. Well located for train. Car parking more challenging and you must get a parking dash card from hotel at 3,50 Euro daily.

My husband and I were traveling out of the US for the first time. As a result we talked to the hotel staff frequently for help determining logistics for getting to and from certain places and best places to eat. Every employee we talked to spoke English well and were very helpful to us. We even were able to park for free during our stay and any accidental ventures into 'zona traffic limitatos' in Montecatini were taken care of during our stay. That in itself was worth staying at the Grand because it is nearly impossible to avoid these unless you are familiar with the roads. The hotel room was also well kept, roomy, and very nice! To notch all around!

We really enjoyed this hotel. The service was excellent and comfortable beds. Typical European style older hotel but with many updates. Amazing location right on the square.

Spent 5 nights in February here. Wonderful hotel. Staff were awesome, very nice breakfast, bar and restaurant. Location was perfect for day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Sienna, Florence and Cinque Terre! Close to train station.

This is an old hotel with a lot of music opera history within.the food is excellent and the service superb.
Rooms have high ceilings and a most effective aircon systen.Verdi was a patron as were othe celebrities.full of old and restoed furniture in public areas including a piani played by Verdi all amenities are around it or a short walk
