Monte Monaco

It’s not a long hike but can be a little challenging with the rocky terrain near the top and also quite a bit of elevation over a fairly short distance. Otherwise, the hike is really not technical at all and the view at the top is well worth the effort. We stayed the night before and started the hike from town after breakfast. With a hiking map, it was not difficult to find the way up. The hike is exposed the whole way but we went in December so the temperature wasn’t too warm to hike in, could be brutal in summer! The wind was merciless tho and made it a little more difficult near the top where it was completely exposed. The path is a bit hard to find, especially if you start from the town! But it is worth it. I loved the hike (steep at the beginning) and the view was great! It was also super hot and very sunny the day I walked. Since there is not a lot of shade nor water on the path I suggest to wear a hat and carry water bottles.

Great view! I parked a car on via del Seco. The whole trip took me 2 hours to go on top and back - with 30minutes on the top. The view is amazing on the top and during the hike as well. 95% of hike is stony road - last 100m are stones but it’s not hard - definitely light hiking even for children or elders.

At the top, the views on San Vito and the surrounding are absolutely stunning!

If you are in San Vito, find some free morning and visit this view point. The path is more or less good and everyone can manage it (with appropriate shoes :) !) The view is totally awesome and it's worth it. So if you want to enjoy something different than just lying on the beach and you want to be at least for a while out of crowded city, go there!

Beautiful view at the cape of Sicilia. Easy hike of around 1.5 hour and 500 meter altitude.

While hiking to the top, I wanted to give up several times. But in the end, I got to Monte Monaco and it was worth it!
No one sees the efforts, but the process is more interesting than the result!

We didn't climb up, this view is from hills around the neighbourhood of the city, but apparently you can climb this mountain from some part behind and enjoy the view on the beach and 'downtown'

Don’t miss the sunset from up here - it is 1h walk and mindblowing!

Just perfect, get up there enjoy the smooth massive marble slabs, the views of San Vito and the range of peaks behind you. Windy as all hell yesterday!
