Torcello Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece. The intricate mosaic work and historical significance create a serene and captivating atmosphere. The sense of tranquillity within its walls is truly a testament to the rich cultural heritage preserved in this gem on Torcello Island. A must-visit for anyone appreciating history and artistry.

It's a stunning cathedral. It's the oldest cathedral of Venice. The exterior shows the decline the island itself has shown. But the inside is stunning. They don't allow you to click photographs but the interior has amazing mosaic work on the floor and the walls. I'd definitely recommend

Truly Memorable. The Last Judgement mosaic on the rear wall is marvelous and worth the price of admission. The tiles are like new for color and shimmer. Photos are not permitted, and the picture guide book I bought does not capture the glory of the original, so a live look is the only way to appreciate the beauty. Other artwork in the basilica is also wonderful.

Amazing basilica from the sixth century. Make sure you also get tickets for the bell tower next to it, for an amazing view of Burano and the rest of Torcello.

Amazing basilica with beautiful mosaics. Truly like stepping back in time and seeing the origins of
Venice. Well worth taking several boats to visit. It is actually not that hard or long so do it and see Murano and Burano as well for an amazing experience.

Peaceful little island well worth the visit. It has a few restaurants near the church about 10 minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop. Simply follow the wide brick path along a small canal and you will find your way past the restaurants to the church. There is a 5 Euro fee to enter Santa Maria, but entrance to the older smaller church is free. Built in 639AD it is the oldest church in the Ventian lagoon.

This is a very interesting place to visit. We took a day trip to Torcello and visited the cathedral there. The staff were straight forward and the cathedral itself was fascinating due to its wear over the years. You could spend hours looking at the flooring.

Absolutely stunning inside, would love to have taken pictures but it was strictly forbidden. Only purchase a guidebook. Entry to cathedral was €5 but worth it, the grandeur and quality of artwork was beautiful. Also the shear size considering its age and on soft unstable ground is mindblowing. Has a special feel, peaceful and spiritual and will always have a place in my heart. ❤

Very nice. The ticket cost 5 euro but you are not allowed to take photos inside.
Still well worth to visit!

Beautiful mosaic wall inside depicting a story. Very elaborate. Not allowed to take pics inside but Google shows some. The altar is simple but has some murals too. Climbing up the tower is a must do beats of the great views of the surrounding area. I believe we paid 9€ for the tower & cathedral including audio tour of 6 stops. Torcello is a quaint town, very peaceful & worth the stop.

I found this to actually be a highlight, it’s feels like not many places have the original buildings. Bell tower was easy to walk up, inside is ramps with only a few steps.

Worth a trip

Torcello Cathedral is really worth to be visited. Full of history and out of the main touristic path. Many people miss Torcello when travel to Venice although this is exactly the place where Venice was originally born. Unfortunately we arrived to Torcello late so had no chance to enjoy the Cathedral interior but even from the outside it looks impressively. We will come back for sure.

Medieval church on the beautiful island of Torcello. Entry is 5 euro, but is worth it to see the Byzantine art inside.

This is a lovely old building that is some way off the beaten track. It has a big scary mosaic of the last judgment, which is worth the small entry fee and the almost empty, grassy island is a lovely respite from noisy venice

Wow, such a great, quite, and beautiful place only a few minutes from Venice. Climbing the tower was amazing!
