Castello di Postignano

This hotel is blissful. It's half an hour's drive from anywhere else but it overlooks wooded countryside and is the perfect example of how to renovate an ancient village. All of the rooms are separate houses and are very comfortable with sitting rooms and fireplaces. The staff is excellent. Service is first class. The food in the restaurant was unexpectedly good and we ended up eating there every night because there really is nowhere else within easy driving distance. And it is also great value considering the fact that they've got a captive audience. We simply didn't understand why we were the only guests there in early June. Although it would appear to be down to the poor weather they've had this year. There are lovely walks around the hotel.

We spent few days here as a family. The Castello provides a unique experience, staying in a renovated hilltop village. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with antique furniture. The rose garden and pool offer breathtaking views of the green hills of Umbria. The restaurant Casa Rosa offers sophisticated but authentic dining. Service is attentive and warm. Isabella at the Wellness Centre offers great treatments including a truly relaxing massage.

Wow. Amidst the hills lays this remote oasis. A destroyed borgo that has been reinvigorated into a luxury retreat. Rooms are very large and well equipped.

We ate at the restaurant on both nights and the food was of the highest quality. Allesandro was an outstanding host who catered to all of our requests and offered his well considered opinion on the menu and wine.

If you want to make a jump in the past, is the perfect place to do it. Having a walk in this beautiful town will give you a wonderful experience. The streets are clean, there is a free parking lot, and the people are kind! If you can visit it, it's worth it!

Simply spectacular. Imagine staying in a castle/hill town that is hundreds of years old but has been lovingly renovated to become a beautiful, comfortable village that has not lost its mediaeval character and charm. This place feels magical - every corner reveals a new architectural feature, lovely landscaping, or stunning view over the green valley. We enjoyed a beautiful, luxurious room, a delicious breakfast, and the local restaurant has some of the best food we tried in Italy without being overly formal. Every staffperson we met was charming and gracious. We will be back!

This is the sort of place you want to tell everyone about and no-one at the same time.

It’s a hugely original setup - a dilapidated hilltop town saved by conversion into apartments to rent and an amazing restaurant.

If it sounds corporate and crass, it isn’t. This area has been devastated by earthquakes, and the restoration has been done with integrity and class, preserving everything beautifully
Inc eg church, tower. It also provides valuable employment in a quiet area.

Apartments are 1/2/3 beds and the restaurant is delicious and classy, without being pretentious.

Note a few things:
There is no shop for eg snacks or baby milk
These aren’t self catering apartments, so you either eat in the restaurant or one of a few nearby restaurants in the valley
The pool is a bit of a walk down and up

Posto bellissimo, un borgo immerso nei boschi dell'Umbria, posto ideale per un relax totale, camere sparse in tutto il borgo, restrutturato con tanta competenza. I servizi forniti sono da 5 stelle, ristorante, spa, confort in camera. Nelka la spa, situata presso do la puscina, abbiamo trovato Isabella che ci ha deliziato di un massaggio fatto con professionalità e competenza. I camerieri professionali e preparati sanno consigliarti sia sul cibo che con i vini. Alla reception gentilezza e professionalità. E per finire la pulizia impeccabile.

Einfach traumhaft. Das Hotel ist fantastisch gelegen, das Dorf ist das Hotel. Hat zwar einerseits etwas von Vergnügungspark, ist aber andererseits trotzdem toll. Große Zimmer, schöner Pool. Eigentlich alles, was ich möchte.

Prachtige locatie in het hart van Umbrië. Wat een zicht! Al het personeel zorgt ervoor dat je in de watten wordt gelegd.
De kamers zijn zeer ruim en hygienisch. Je overnacht in een gerenoveerd huis in het dorp dus dat kan tellen inzake authenticiteit.
La casa Rosa, het restaurant in het dorp is fantastisch. Echt lekker eten en de bediening is top.
Het is effectief een relais. Hier kom je tot rust. Als je graag activiteiten wil ondernemen, zorg dan dat je in het bezit bent van een huurwagen want het is steeds minstens een uur rijden naar bezienswaardigheden zoals de watervallen van Terni.
Soms voel je je ook alleen in het dorp. Zeker in de week. In het weekend lijkt het wel wat drukker maar in de week zie je amper volk.

Het zwembad en de tuin in combinatie met het uitzicht op de bergen of het dorp is bijna een droom. Maar de vele (aggressieve) insecten rond het zwembad (dazen en wespen) maken het soms tot een nachtmerrie. Puur uit frustratie blijf je niet lang liggen aan het zwembad.

Non abbiamo alloggiato per la notte ma siamo stati solo di passaggio qualche giorno fa… il posto è silenzioso, romantico e accogliente. Curato in ogni dettaglio, pulito (non c’è una briciola di spazzatura da nessuna parte). Abbiamo preso un caffè in terrazza, vista meravigliosa! Vorremmo tornarci per alloggiare qualche notte!
