This is one of the most beautiful place to see if you are around in the region.
Very close to Agrigento ancient greek temple valley, you can get there by car or by public transportation. Be careful that during peak season you may have difficulties to find a free car spot. You have a nice Belvedere from the top of the beach but you can also walk on the beach from the two sides of the rocks.
Important, is forbidden to walk on the stairs (rocks) and the access to the beach under the rocks is closed.
You can still find nice corners to see the stairs and take pictures.
The other alternative is to rent a boat and get close from the sea.
Respect the place and don't try to walk over the stairs.
We visited in may and it was not crowded.

A truly picturesque place. For a short walk to fit between your bigger Sicilian adventures.

It’s a very nice place to see and appreciate naturally made beauty. It’s a long stretch and you have many free areas to just enjoy yourselves, have some picnic and swim. The scenary is really amazing and fotos will look really good in this area. The restaurants and parking are also not very far from the beach. There are even public toilets in the area.

Just perfect! The stairs were closed with guards nearby. Asked around and someone told us they were there until 8pm so we stayed around at the lido until that time. When the guards were gone we saw we weren't the only ones to witness this beauty, with the sunset it was more beautiful. Really enjoyed our day at this beautiful place/beach.

The Scala dei Turchi (Italian: "Stair of the Turks") is a rocky cliff on the coast of Realmonte, near Porto Empedocle, southern Sicily, Italy. It has become a tourist attraction, partly due to its mention in Andrea Camilleri's series of detective stories about Commissario Montalbano. The Scala is formed by marl, a sedimentary rock with a characteristic white color. It lies between two sandy beaches, and is accessed through a limestone rock formation in the shape of a staircase, hence the name. The latter part of the name derives from the frequent raids carried on by Moors.

The 'stairs of the Turks' are a popular white cliff that resembles a staircase. Beautiful beach with shallow, turquoise water. To get down to the beach, you need to climb down a series of steep staircases. Along the staircase are several restaurants and kiosks. Parking along the street is free, but there are also payable parking lots.

Lovely views. The Steps dont look real as you get closer. Beach was nice and quite for a stroll but I can imagine its ridiculously busy in the summer. The Steps are closed off to walk on as it erodes them but ignorant people climb the fences to walk on. Be a shame if they fell! Just admire the beauty from afar.

Just as in the photos, this place seems out of this world. Another wonder of nature. 🤍
The name of Scala dei Turchi or The Stairs of the Turks comes from the Saracen pirates, improperly called Turks by the locals, who in the 16th century used to land here to plunder the surrounding coastal villages.
The pure white colour is due to the special minerals and clays in the rock formation. It is formed of a special earthy material called marl.
Simply beautiful.

Currently not allowed to enter the scala! There are guards in front of the scala who prohibits you to enter. You can only take some pictures

Beautiful place! Positive and nice. You can reach it by beach (try it barefoot). Make some wonderful photos and enjoy the view. Not hard to climb on it, even barefoot. Free entrance.

One of our highlights travelling through Sicily! This place is just spectacular and beautiful. Highly recommend. Do not park on the street/main road adjacent to the Stair of the Turks. Even though there's no signage to say no parking we saw all the cars parked on the street get fined! We paid 5 euro for parking on a private lot and it was a breeze. You'll see the parking lot on the way to the beach.

The Turkish Steps provided the perfect warm to spend a late afternoon (and early evening) after a visit to nearby Agrigento. The whole area truly does have a Mediterranean feel to it which everybody visiting seems to sense. You might be able to find a time when there is a small crowd – but I seriously doubt you would be able to find a time when there is no crowd. However, we kind of felt that the crowd is what made it enjoyable – kind of a beach party feel. Come in your swimsuit and be ready for a day in the sun and the water. The clay material of the steps mixes in with the surrounding water and is supposedly therapeutic – you can definitely feel the difference in the water. Entrance to the Turkish steps is free. However, there is next to no parking and access is via a narrow road upon the cliffs. We had to park at a lot about a half-mile up the road – I believe the fee was about five euros. There are nearby eating establishments and restaurants along the beach. The beaches next to the steps are perfect sunbathing and letting the kids play around. As far as I am aware, there are no closing hours.

I came to Sicily and of course I couldn't miss coming to see this natural wonder, it was so beautiful that I even took a white rock to bring back home as a souvenir. While here I could still remember a scene from the famous Italian movie Malena which took place here.
!!!For everyone that don't the access to go near to this place is restricted since it's a protected area which in my opinion makes total sense because it's a wonder that should be preserved and not destroyed!!!

This white cliff is located along the stretch of sea between Realmonte and Porto Empedocle (in the province of Agrigento). Its rock is composed of marl, soft, calcareous, clayey and is a dazzling white. Nature, like a great artist, has worked this material over time, making it softly sinuous with the help of the sea and the salty breeze, forming terraces and smoothing out every angle.
The sea, taking advantage of this sparkling white, shows off its most intense blues and azures.

Really beautiful place. Lots of spots to take amazing photos. Took the bus from Agrigento to port E. and then hitchhike to the starting point. If you walk further down to the beach, there are a lot less people. Swam in the sea and it was wonderful. Spent an enjoyable half day there!
