Goldene Rose Karthaus

Would absolutely recommend this hotel and would love to come back another time. The staff was helpful in identifying trails to hike on and they were an absolute delight, as well as the owner. Rooms were cozy and well decorated, bed was extremely comfortable and we were quite appreciative of the upgrade given minor construction that was happening on the street. The food was amazing too - I would recommend getting the half board added on - especially since there is not much in terms of other restaurants readily nearby. This is a place to go to relax and enjoy yourself, reconnect with nature. We were sad to leave but we hope to come back soon, and bring our family and friends with us!

We had lunch in this beautiful hotel and restaurant. We ate probably the best canaderli of our lives and really appreciated the service. The place is cosy, and nicely decorated. The wine recommendation was just perfect.

My sister and I stayed here in August and would safely say one of the nicest hotels I've ever encountered. Charming in its location and decor, cosy and welcoming, staff were so helpful and nice. I was surprised by how good the food and wine was; beautifully presented and something different every evening. The owner went out of their way to help me on my last day when I forgot a piece of luggage behind, and I won't forget his kindness. This place is real gem.

Excellent. This hotel is exceptional and perfectly located for hill walking/hiking in a lovely area.
Without exception wonderful, warm and very professional staff. Additionally superb & interesting cuisine. Half Board worth every penny.
We loved our 5 days stay and would recommend it without hesitation.

Just had an incredible two night stay here and we plan to return. Excellent service, Michelin-star quality food, comfortable rooms, and unique saunas make this a special place. The staff (and other guests) were great with our 10 month baby as well. Look forward to returning.

Even more beautiful than expected! The in room sauna is a treat, rooms and entire grounds are immaculately clean and cared for. Thank you to the entire staff for treating us with such hospitality, this stay will not be forgotten! The restaurant from breakfast to dessert was a real stand out.

This hotel was just perfect in every way: the service (staff are all very helpful & friendly), décor and ambience, restaurant/breakfast, spa (public and private), room. Everything was just magical, one of the best places we've ever stayed. We don't often say this, but I think we'll make this a place to come back to...

Absolutely loved our stay in this dreamlike hotel. With my 3 y old son, who is very loud and active we still felt very welcomed! A stay to never forget and hopefully to be repeated. Breakfast menu felt royal. Diner outside, amazing view, impressive wellness garden and a bed that takes you to heaven. ❤‍🔥

This was one of the best hotel experiences that we’ve had in a long time. Incredible care and thought was put into each element of our stay. The owners and staff made us feel warmly welcome and that we were in a very special place. I could not recommend this hotel more. Some more info about our stay:

- The setting is the ultimate in relaxation - set on the slopes of the long valley, you hear the river going by and little else! Beauty in the silence. Don’t go visit this area expecting a lot of shopping or nightlife - the total lack of either of those makes this a perfect place to stay!

- We stayed in the residence, which is a 3 minute walk away from the main hotel building. Our room, Alpenrose, had 2 large bedrooms, a living room and a bathroom. There was also a small terrace outside. The bed was so comfortable and all of the bed linens were very high quality and made beautifully each morning. Comfy robes and slippers were convenient for the sauna (there are 2 saunas and 2 showers in the basement of the residence, there are more in the main hotel building and it looks like they’re building some additional wellness facilities in-between). Parking was directly outside.

- A huge highlight of this hotel is the outstanding food. We visited in the winter and did the half-board package, which included breakfast, dinner and tea. Be prepared for an indulgent experience, it’s good to make sure you have some robust exercise during the day! At breakfast were many varieties of breads, cheeses, spek and salamis, yogurts, all kinds of homemade jam. We also got fresh scrambled eggs which chives each day which were delicious. Dinner was 5 courses each night, which you ordered at breakfast based on the menu for the day. Each day is a different 5 recommended dishes (starter/pasta/soup/main/dessert)and then a list of about 10 other options you could swap in if the chef’s menu doesn’t appeal. Every single thing that we ate was absolutely outstanding. You wish you could eat even more so you can try everything on the menu! Plus, the setting of the restaurant, wonderful service and immaculate table settings just makes every meal feel like a special experience. The wine list is extensive and we loved trying the different recommended house wines each night from the South Tyrol region. One of my favorite “off the menu” things I ordered was a pasta with a Ragu of wild sheep. WOW.

- The spa is also a treat, and the products they create are very natural and hydrating. During the stay we did a sports massage that included some special mud mask and we both felt super refreshed the next day and did some great skiing. We reserved the massage in the morning for that afternoon, and were well taken care of.

Though we’d never heard of the area (and were quite surprised that everyone was speaking German, we were expecting Italian!), it turned out to be the best surprise. Mountain elegance, comfort, and simple luxury. The perfect place to get away from it all, relax and refresh your outlook, and just totally enjoy. GO!

If heaven is a place on earth, I think we may have found it !!!!
The Golden Rose sits within the most beautiful surroundings, peaceful, tranquil and incredibly picturesque.
The hotel boasts fabulous amenities, outdoor hot tub and whirlpool, saunas and gorgeous glass fronted rooms to sit in and just relax after using the amenities, no details were overlooked, citrus flavoured water to help you rehydrate, a fire in the centre of the room, making it cozy.
Our room was amazing, clean, spacious with a very comfortable bed , evening turndown service. Our suite also had a private sauna and a balcony which looked out into the mountains.
We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel each day of our stay and the food was superb. I would definitely recommend the sharing platter, with the paired wine tasting.
As if all of that isn't a reason to visit ...the staff, from reception to room service and everything in between, they were phenomenal. Always smiling and chatty, no ask was too much. Each of them seemed to genuinely like their job and made us feel so welcome that we didn't want to leave.
Alex and Johanna thank you for your recommendations each evening. From the personalised welcome note to the goodbye,we felt pampered and relaxed from the moment we got out of the car. Thank you all and well done on creating such a haven.

What a pleasant and serene stay we had at the Goldene Rose in Karthaus. Everything was wonderful and we were extremely well looked after by the Grüners and their excellent staff. The food and facilities were top notch and the Goldene Rose and the valley are now one of my favorite places on Earth! The only thing I could've asked for more of was time there! I will certainly be back to enjoy more of the tranquility on offer! I can absolutely recommend the sharing menu as excellent and an incredible value and the pairings by Aleksander were phenomenal!

Five stars are not enough for the Goldene Rose! The whole experience is wonderful. Paul and Steffi run the hotel wonderfully and their ethos is evident throughout the entire staff. Their service levels are second to none - nothing is too much trouble. The hotel itself is fantastic. Immaculately clean, warm, comfortable, spacious rooms with twice daily service to make up the room in the morning and then turn down the beds in the evening. The 'Karthaus Bad' area is excellent with hot tubs, sauna etc, fired by wood. The food was outstanding, particularly the breakfast but one, small critique is that the evening meals could do with a bit more vegetable accompaniment. Nonetheless, what is served is excellent! Whether on a skiing holiday, hiking or just relaxing (or all three!) the Goldene Rose is a first class choice and one we look forward to visiting again many times in the future

Was there in the summer. Family vacation with two teens who ranked this in their top 5 vacations. Perfect inn. Start your day with epic breakfast spread, take daily hikes along the Via Monachorum, “Silentium“, to nearby villages to visit churches and farms, return for a sauna and five star dinner outside. We also spent a day and night up at Bella Vista which was epic. We want to go back in the winter!

The hotel is exceptionally great: very friendly staff & well organized, great food and great rooms. Highly to recommend. We will come back soon.

Very cozy place and the people are very friendly

Un piccolo angolo di eleganza, charme, dove ci si sente coccolati, un hotel raro da trovare perché non è né troppo grande e né troppo piccoli la giusta perfezione per fare si che il cliente non sia un numero ma sia parte di una grande qualità. I camerieri sono tutti gentilissimi, le signore della colazione e della cena eleganti e gentili, anche il cameriere Alex professionale,gentile che sa "pesare" il cliente dando la corretta giusta perfezione di trattamento, le camere sono bellissime e pulitissime, la spa , i massaggi fatti, le cene e le colazioni sono tutte di altissimo livello.
La colazione non è a buffet viene servita elegantemente al tavolo con un ampia scelta del menu, tutti prodotti freschissimi con l ultilizzo di prodotti locali.
Questo hotel è un tocco di charme ed eleganza lo riassumo così. grazie a tutto lo staff e i proprietari perché se il personale lavora così vuol dire che dietro c'è un grande lavoro e serenità 👏👏👏👏👏A presto Serena

Ein wunderschönes Hotel. Wer eine Auszeit vom Alltag sucht, ist in diesem Hotel genau richtig.
Bei der Ankunft wurden wir von der Gastgeberin herzlich begrüsst.
Sowohl das Abendessen als auch das Frühstück waren ausgezeichnet.
Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal.
Sehr schöne und saubere Zimmer mit bequemen Betten.
Der Wellnessbereich im Freien inmitten der schönen Bergkulisse war ein grosses Highlight nach dem Skifahren.
Der Aufenthalt war einfach perfekt. Vielen Dank!
