We had a really great time at this gluten free restaurant. Fantastic to enjoy a full meal without worrying about gluten from start to finish. We had appetisers, primi and secondi and washed it down with some wine. The owner checked on us regularly and we were very happy with the food. The only thing I'd change is I am not a big fan of musical theatre as background music but it wasn't super loud or imposing.

I’m gluten intolerant which makes travelling in Italy a bit difficult sometimes. To come in a restaurant and be able to order anything on the menu was absolutely amazing. The bruschetta was so delicious, the pasta tasted like heaven, and my boyfriend loved the pizza. The bread was even fantastic, and dessert was phenomenal. I honestly can’t rave about this place enough. If you’re gluten intolerant you HAVE to go here.

Excellent food 🍕 the best gluten-free food that we have found in Italy so far 🇮🇹🍝❤ We tried focaccia, pasta, and desserts, and everything tasted delicious. Also, great service.

Know that this review should be seen in the context of gluten free places. If this was a normal restaurant I would have given it 2 stars. Obviously the food is not as good as food with gluten however it is good enough that you forget the food is gluten free. Onwards to the review. Overall I would recommend coming back to this place but mainly for the wine and a slice of the cheesecake.

Starters
Once you have ordered the dish from the menu you are presented with a basket of gluten free bread. There is no dipping included, such as olive oil and the bread itself is dry so I would recommend skipping that basket of bread and drink the house wine instead, while waiting for the dishes.

Dinner
I had a pizza and my partner had a pasta dish (see images). The pizza was good however I would have wished for some more toppings and the tomato/cheese ratio was too much tomato for me. But that's a personal preference. The crust has a good texture if you like thin and crisp. The pasta was freshly cut and easily absorbed the tomato based sauce. My partner said it was a good but simple dish.

Dessert
After you have finished the dishes the waiter will ask you if you want their dessert. Since this (and the house wine (red) ) was by far the best part of this experience I would recommend saying yes. Portion size is good enough for 2 to share one dessert.

Drinks and service
The house wine was very drinkable. It was fruity and not sour at all. Even my partner, who usually don't want to have wine due to the acidity and dryness, enjoyed half a glass of this house wine. The overall service is good and you never feel pressurised into ordering. The noise level is quiet/normal and it really makes for an overall better experience.

We had a lovely dinner last night. The host did his best to be at our service. We sometimes had to wait a little longer, but we didn’t mind because the food was really good!! I would highly recommend this place!

Incredible gluten free food. We had an antipasti, pizza, pasta and dessert, and they were all excellent. My non-coeliac cousin enjoyed the food as much as I did.

I was very happy with this restaurant because they use high quality ingredients without preservatives. It was very refreshing to see a restaurant that relies on natural ingredients. They have so many lactose free cheeses - it is amazing! Virtually everything they serve is gluten free and lactose free. Their range of pastas are unique and very tasty. The prices are more than fair for what you receive, and I believe that anybody that says otherwise is a cheapo. The owner was very kind and passionate about his work; and he worked very hard to make sure that all of his customers were served. Great way to start off our time in Matera. Thanks 🤙🏽

I normally don’t eat gluten free, but even for me: best pizza ever! Tastes absolutely great and is easier on the stomach. The antipasti starters were equally delicious, all topped with a very friendly service. We highly recommend this venue: go try it out today!

You must visit, gluten free or not, this restaurants food is delicious. We had dinner (brushcetta, pizza, tiramisu) and lunch (focaccias with tomato, pepper & mince, courgette, and other delicious items on their menu). The bread is incredible, you wouldn't know its gf. The best I've had! Highly recommend.

I could not fault ANY of these gluten free/lactose free meals. I have never seen as wide a range of lactose free cheeses/gluten free pizza’s/pastas as I did at I Sapori. The cheese platter, Carbonara, Tiramisu, and Ricotta cake were heavenly and very reasonably priced.

I would highly recommend 😁

Excellent restaurant, best gf pasta have has and yummy dessert. They have really taken the time to invest in their dishes. A lot of gf places the pasta has been too aldente, here it tastes just like normal pasta. Kind service too.

We were really happy to try quite a few different lactose-free cheeses in one place! Gluten-free ragu was also delicious. The only drawback was that toilet room sounds (doors, water) could be heard in the main hall.

Amazing meal! Started with the local cured meats and the bruschetta selection - the ricotta topped bruschetta was to die for!! Followed by the ragu pasta… could not fault anything at all!! Locally run with great, personalised service. Would recommend, 10/10!

Absolutely delicious local food made with fresh produce. The perfect spot for celiacs with a completely gluten-free and lactose-free menu including pizza (dinner only) and pasta.

A friend of ours is Coeliac, she found this restaraunt that she could dine at.
The meal was great, and the gluten free bread and pastry items were very nice.
The service was outstanding. Our grasp of the Italian language is limited, and the young man that served us spoke very good English.
Highly recommend this restaurant to any dinner!
P.S. the steak was cooked to perfection!
The lamb stew was tasty.
Ol,ok all the food was great!

If you have celiac disease and you are within a few hours drive of this restaurant, you will not regret making the trip for a leisurely meal at this place (Matera as well is unforgettable). Things to know: Hours on the sign are approximate, first courses are amazing, the bread is extraordinary (something about fermenting the rice), and you can pick up some sweet and savory things at the "bakery" in the front. This family restaurant is outside of the historic district, on the edge of a local piazza where you can stroll and let your kids play on the playground.
