The hotel was excellent, right from the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful and the rooms were beautiful, comfortable, clean, and the shower ample and warm. The pressure was not great, however.
I recommend you skip the hotel's restaurant, as it was quite expensive and pretty middle of the road.
The bar by the pool had much more honest offerings and we had a great pinsa for the light lunch as they call it.

Century+ hotel so the rooms were dated. After at least a decade, came across rooms with real key (see photo). Great venue, service was very good. The views were breathtaking.

Wonderful hotel, majestic views, friendly staff. Building and gardens beautifully maintained. Great food recommendations from restaurant staff. I will definitely come back here.

Authentic hotel in a historical location. 4 stars for the room... Fridge didn't work... Small details which you expect to be fixed... Breakfast was perfect... Quality croissant

The restaurant here is great. Rooms are spacious. Air conditioning was turned off when we visited and would have just opened the windows except there was a storm.

Old fashioned elegance makes one think of better days.
Staff are friendly, informed and professional.
The restaurant... Hmmm... I've had better, but that's OK.

I dont usually write reviews, but this hotel really surprised me. Old world charm, real wood furniture, friendly staff, fantastic pool. Having a campari spritz in the garden after the pool is a great option.
It was the best surprise I got in years, with the best price-quality ratio by far ever.

a great place with the best personal - we will be back!

big YES for this hotel! the room was big and the hotel itself is really maintained for an historical place. the location is on a hill and the view is amazing. but the most wonderful thing is the front desk staff. they are amazing group of people that made our stay so wonderful (and we stayed or a long time). they are smiling and helping and making you feel so great! big plus- they have an electric charger for the car, and also down the hill you can find 2 more at the Porsche dealer. the hotel have lots of attractive activities and the garden is SO nice! next year they will be done with the pool so for now we had great time on the beach with the best advice giving by the front desk (thank s Cloudia and the rest!)
we loved everything but i do have 2 points that i would like to mention. this is a place you can bring dogs too, so keep this in mind if you don't like dogs or the smell of dogs (especially in the 3 floor).
usually the hotel is not crowded- but when it is the electric pole needs to be maintained my the front desk so that more than one guest can use it. maybe via valet parking?
breakfast- nice but not grand. we eat for 2 weeks the same...one point to pay attention too is the staff in the breakfast room- they need to be more active and direct the guests to the right table (1 person should not take a 4 person table) especially when the hotel is full.

For anyone who enjoys an Italian classical luxerious hotel on a beautiful location overlooking the town, this is the place to be.
Nice and clean pool area with towl service, decent breakfast buffet and a room with a lake view offers a nice sunset over the lake.

Palace Hotel is an institution in Varese. It's a beautiful liberty style building with a long standing history. The place is quite old school but that's part of his charme. The bar is very nice and the people are super friendly. I suggest to take an aperitivo there with the barman Marco, who is a creative genius of cocktails.

Gorgeous reminiscence of hotels with grandezza and style: 120 or so modernized spacious rooms (new bathrooms, good shower, marble etc) in a beautiful setting. The hotel from 1909 is located in a splendid park, our room had a pretty view of Lake Varese. Quiet. Superb restaurant. Excellent breakfast. Fair price. Recommended!

A stunning and beautiful building in the art deco style. The architecture designed by the great sommaruga, is wonderful. It has the best location with views of the city all round. This hotel was built along with the Kursaal hotel which was bombed and hence destroyed in the 1940s. The interior is full of the classic art deco styles, from the lights to the doors, as soon as you enter, it is like stepping back to the 1910s and 1920s. Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a lovely hotel situated on a hilltop conveniently located near the center of Varese. I first visited here the on business the summer of 2016, and again the autumn of 2018. On my most recent visit, I was struck by how much the hotel had been improved. In 2016, my impression was "this place used to be really nice," but with lovely landscaping and tasteful improvements to the interior and rooms, this is once again a top-notch hotel. The staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms, with their exceptionally high ceilings, feel very spacious. The bathrooms are covered in white marble. There is a restaurant and bar on premises and comfortable common areas both inside and out, and the views from the hilltop are spectacular. All in all, it is a wonderful place to visit.

After Travelling over 5000 Kilometres, I had a very enjoyable experience at the Hotel. The rooms are simple, yet spacious and comfortable. The food is delightful, but not burdensome. The staff leaves no stone unturned to make sure they provide the best experience you can receive. For a simple idyllic getaway, there is arguably no other place! 10/10

Like an ageing movie star the Palace Grand Hotel retains the ability to charm you despite the passage of time. The view from our room was simply stunning, sleeping with the window open with nothing but the alpine breeze and the sounds of nature to help you drift off and awaken was a pleasure. The room itself was fine, the bed was comfortable, it was spacious. The restaurant was good, if a little simple, but we ate late so I chose to believe that was on us. Service throughout was faultless.

Impressive garden approach - a once-mighty hotel is still a pleasure to arrive at. The welcome was warm and the place was alive - full in fact, with an event for a Spanish cosmetics company. In fact we couldn't get a table to eat outside, which would have been a treat. The restaurant is smart, with ambitious food (risotto with strawberries, anyone?) which didn't always score for us. At least not badly overpriced. The rooms are faded grand, really quite nice with good beds and partial views of the lake (trees a bit overgrown). Breakfast a bit low-end buffet but the coffee machines are good (even if the milk is UHT). The staff are great and overall this is a great stop. Because it stands in its own grounds, the Grand feels further from town than it probably is, and we didn't bother with the free shuttle. In my experience Varese centre is well worth it.

If not for the architecture, the gardens, the view, the history, the ambiance, the genuine feeling of living in a palace, go for an unforgettable holiday with your dogs. One of the MOST pet friendly places in Europe. Chapeau.

Very good hotel. Victorian style, with all the modern equipment you need. Excelent locations. Views from hotel rooms are amazing.....whole Varese and Varese lake, especially in the morning with some fog over them looks like from feiry tale. The rooms are vert clean and well maintain. Big and comfortable. Very nice bathroom. Staff helpful and nice. Restaurant in the hotel is serving good food. Tasty. The menu is reach in selections, which are modified periodicly with some local specialite (e.g. during my stay the sicilian option was introduced to menu.....very good option). The breakfasts is strong point. A lot of choices, italian, continental. Place to visit one more time for sure, whenever I will stay in that region.
