A highlight of our trip to Positano. We wanted one of our 4 days to be active and this was a stunning opportunity. We got a driver to take us to the beginning and we hiked with a guide all the way back to our hotel. It was 6.5 miles of hiking total with 2,500 feet decent and 100+ ascent. Most of what I read was it was flat and easy, as a pretty active couple, it could be deceiving for those that may not do much active endeavors. We loved the views, there was nothing that taxed us other than the amount of steps involved by the end :). You will see the best views of the Amalfi Coast, get a wonderful workout, see goats and donkeys and enjoy the best scenery the mountains provide. We will do this next time we are here again!

We were staying in Positano, so took the Travelmar ferry to Amalfi, followed by the shuttle to Angerola (combined total is €16 per person). We then took the hike all the way back to Positano (9km). It is a beautiful hike that i would classify as moderately challenging.

The trail is moderate to hard, best when weather is decent as the trail is often close to sheer drops. Trail shoes advised. It's spectacular and not to be missed.

The Path of the Gods on the Amalfi coast (Italy) is a stunning 7.8-mile hike offering spectacular views of the coastline and mediterranean sea.

The trail features diverse landscapes, including forests and terraced vineyards, and is well-marked, though moderately challenging. It provides a serene escape from tourist crowds, making it a must-do for visitors seeking natural beauty and tranquility.

Recommend starting from bomano if you don’t need a killer glute workout!

I have done this walk twice - spring was nicer than summer. But both were glorious.

I preferred sunset to sunrise.

Wear good shoes!

It was a great experience. The weather was beautiful, which helped, but the trails were busy with people hiking in both directions.

The lemon ice at the boat shack along the way was delicious, and the little goat was adorable.

We only hiked a few miles and then turned around and went back. My husband gets a little dizzy with heights when the path is very narrow, so we went until that kicked in. I would have kept going. It's a beautiful hike.

We started from one end and walked to Positano. Google maps says it would take 3 hours but it took us 5 hours to do the whole thing. The steep hike-up in the beginning was painful but worth it once we reach the top. There is a place to supply water when reaching the top of the stairs, so do ask people how far before reaching the top so that you know how to ration your water.
The trail is a bit dangerous at some places where there are no rails and the rocks may get you tripped. If you fall…no doubt that’s the end.
I couldn’t stop taking photos and videos. I’m sure you will enjoy it too.

Path of the gods was amazing! Go to the little town center, and follow a small path. Note the path is mostly down hill and so returning will be uphill and more difficult. You will see wild goats, and some horses along the way and the most beautiful views! Highly recommend.

Gorgeous walk above the towns of the amalfi coast. Starts in the lovely little town of bomerano. Easy marked path for most of the way. Only trouble we had was the stairs down at the end destroyed our calf muscles!

It felt like a very, very long trail to Positano from Agerola, even though it was only about 6 miles - but definitely the best trail I've ever hiked ( and I lived in Hawaii for a while). I completed this on June 16th, and by 2pm when I arrived in Positano - it was very hot. Lots of rocky descending steps, and there were moments when I wished I brought trekking poles ( I'm 5'8", 175lbs and workout a few times a week, so I'd rate this medium to difficult trail). Lots of people on the trail and a few times I needed the AllTrails app to figure out my direction. Wow, what an awesome experience!! Bucket list checked off

Lovely hike. Took us approximately 4 hours all in from Bomerano to Positano. The main hike is fairly well signposted and easy enough to navigate.

However from the end of the hike part to Positano it was a little confusing with some pathways, some on roads and then going back in to what seems like never ending steps. Good fun all in all just take into consideration the end part when looking into it.

Very easy to reach from Amalfi with the bus, and then the hike itself is pretty easy! There was some rocky parts where you just need to take your time to not slip but otherwise it’s quite flat, a bit of uphill but it’s not too steep or never too long, should be doable by most people. At the arrival at Nocelle there was a “lemon point” with fresh lemon and orange juices / granite and that was very appreciated! The only drawback part would be having to walk 15-20min on the main road back to Positano after the 1500 steps from Nocelle but other than that I definitely recommend the hike!! We didn’t have the clearest visibility but were still able to see the coastline and the blue of the sea, we did it in end of March and it was not too crowded as well. And even with the foggy view it was still a very enjoyable path!

Absolutely stunning hike. We were staying in Positano and got the 7.10 bus to Nocelle. From there we hiked to Bomerano and got the bus and ferry back. Definitely recommend doing this early on, especially in the summer months, it was a great temperature for the majority of the walk and we barely saw anyone for the first 90m, so peaceful! Wasn't that hard really, uphill in places but always some flat not far away to have a bit of a rest. Would have been much harder in the midday sun though.

Easy walk, for some hard -especially if you decide to go down (or worse,up) the staircase between Nocelle and Positano. The best views ever hands down, just a few trekkings give you the same feeling. I did it twice already and I'm always willing to bring good friends along. I highly recommend this trek and then a visit to Positano and Amalfi afterwards.

To not have to struggle as much with gradient of tarrain is better start this path from Agerola and go in direction of Positano 👈 views are epic and worth of hiking. There are places with shade on track.

Incredible hiking!

You can do it without guide as the path has clear indications about the direction.

I would say that it is nicer to do one way, going down to Positano and going back to the starting point by bus, if you have your car in Agerola for example. In this case, be careful with the time of the buses. Plan to go back early because buses might be canceled or delay.

Great trail! Hiked Bomerano to Positano. Started at 8:30, finished about noon with lots of stops for photos and a rest stop. I was surprised with the amount of shade. Up and down Bomerano to Nocelle. Lots of stairs down from Nocelle to Positano!

A very unique and breathtaking (metaphorically and physically) hike.

If you are here only for one day and do not want to exhaust yourself, I recommend to start and end in Bomerano.

Between all the proposed trails on the poorly made map, the loop that Path of the Gods enables is the best, giving the best views and lasting at top two hours.

Depart from Bomerano and follow the directions for Path of the Gods, consequently becoming Positano on the signs.

Follow the well made path and and stop at the tiny lemonade shack on the road for a refreshing juice or sorbetto.

Follow from there and do not take any other paths leading down or up until you see Positano, after a while you will reach a viewpoint signed on maps as "Belvedere", and views do not get any better from there, so you can head back.

I did the trail in sandals, a bottle of water and my camera. Don't weigh yourself down with other things like walking sticks and heavy trekking boots (unless you bring a packed lunch).

The sentiero degli dei is beautiful. Like being in a postcard. We started from Bomerano, walked 3/4 of the path and returned back to Bomerano (4 hours total). The path is not so difficult. However, don't do it if you have issues with your knees because it involves climbing and descending many steps. Hiking shoes are also advised because it can be slippery in some parts.

We recently completed the Path of God's trail from Bomerano to Arienzo with our 9-year-old daughter, and it was an incredible experience. The trail is quite easy, even for families, with plenty of shaded areas to provide relief from the sun. Starting at noon in Bomerano, we encountered some sunny stretches but also enjoyed the coolness of forested sections.

Having hiked in hot climates before, including Angels Landing in Zion, we were well-prepared for the heat. We carried 5 liters of water, 1 liter of lemonade, and some fruits for our family of three. This proved to be essential for staying hydrated. However, please note that we love the heat and are accustomed to it; others may find the high temperatures challenging, especially in the midday sun.

At the end of the mountainous trail in Nocelle, we found a wonderful bar and panini place, which is a must-visit before tackling the numerous steps down to Arienzo. We also noticed that they are working on improving the end of the trail, making it even easier to hike. This hike was a fantastic blend of beautiful scenery and manageable difficulty, making it perfect for a family adventure. Highly recommended!
