Atmospheric, very special place. One can still feel the tragedy of what happened here. Remains of houses, churches and the city wall are still well visible and give a glimpse of an impression of how this place once looked like. I highly recommended the walk down to the small creek in the northern gorge. There are many remains of old man-made caves and nature thrives here.

10. 9. 2021 Noto Antica (delayed review) - ancient ruins not only of the castle, graves carved in the rock, caves, lakes, beautiful nature. We went through the whole place in about 5 hours. Right at the entrance, some disgusting visitors made a toilet out of the first tomba. Shame! But otherwise the whole area is vast, full of greenery and mysterious places. I recommend a visit. Food, drink to take with you. More youtube travel video PSIS-visit. Iva + Petr Prague CZE

No tickets necessary. Very old ruined that you can visit but only a limited number of still standing remnants. Very beautiful view and a constant feeling of "how could have Noto looked like 600 years ago"

Free entrance, no parker, quiet, absolutely beautiful!
We came here after failing to visit Cavagrande because of fake parkers and not letting our dog in with us. But I’m so glad we came here instead!
This is like an open air museum with eery admosphere of hundreds years old ruins of Noto that got distroyed in an earthquake.
After visiting some ruins we hiked down to Lago Pensile which was so refreshing to dip in after the hike!

We visited many historical sites in the area and this was my personal favourite. The atmosphere and countryside really makes a lasting impression. I loved how there was so much in the undergrowth just abandoned. The castle and Palace were the highlights but we could have spent at least a day exploring as there is so much to see.

After 2500 years of living there, citizens moved out, and they made Noto. It is a lovely place :)

It's well worth the drive up the hill. Explore the caves, ruins, and the nature that has taken over this once bustling city.

Bring your hiking boots and a Sun hat. It's a long way from end to end. So sad it's not better preserved

Absolutely magical on a sunny day. A bit of a difficult drive but the secluded and peaceful location makes it all worth the effort.

Nice but very little as buildings left. Sneak look in how towns can get reconquered by nature !

It is best to visit earlier in the day. By midday it was very hot. It's a very beautiful walk (outlined in Car Tours and Walks, Sunflower Books,Walk 38} It is very steep using ancient stone paths. Lovely little river at the bottom of the gorge where you can cool your hot feet before climbing back up past the old tanneries and Mills. Some lovely newly built stone walls.

1693 was not a good year for the old Noto. Ruins and birds and tanneries. Fascinating.
