Tuscany Truffle Hunter

Highly recommend Francesco and his trusty Lagotto dogs for a very informative and thoroughly enjoyable truffle hunt experience, followed by a delicious lunch made with the fresh truffles from the hunt. A highlight of my Tuscany holiday !

Found this on Google maps and messaged Francisco the night before requesting a last second tour - he was very quick & responsive and was able to squeeze us in the next morning! Can’t say enough about how great our experience was. Francisco took us to 3 spots. Very cute and friendly dog, who clearly is well trained. We were lucky and had a great haul! Ended with a fantastic meal at La Cantina dei Tartufi which I had already marked down as a spot I wanted to try! Fantastic truffle and wine pairing. Go here if you don’t have time to do a tour! Felt welcomed with lots of drinks and food. We even got to keep a few truffles!

We had the best time with Francesco! He offers an option with the truffle hunt and lunch, but we just did the truffle hunt. The dogs were so cute and sweet and gentle, and Francesco and his wife are such lovely people. One of the fundamentals of truffle hunting is the dogs and Francesco is an expert--he breeds the dogs and wins many awards for them. We found a bunch of truffles and took some home for later which was great! Francesco is also very helpful and flexible, if you have questions about anything he is very willing to give recommendations or make accomodations - just reach out to him and ask. He recommended us very nice wineries and accomodation for future trips. I would highly recommend Tuscany Truffle Hunters for anyone looking for a great experience truffle hunting!

We booked truffle hunt through our hotel. We met with Francesco, his wife and two amazing Lagottos. After quick introduction within few minutes we were in forrest looking for truffles. The expeeience was superb! The hosts are lovely, warm people who were very easy to talk to and obviously love what they do. They are passionate about lagotto breed. Francesco and his wife shared with us lot of information about their dogs and breed as we are interested in getting lagotto. With him and his wife it felt as if we are long time friends, talk about dogs, truffles, Tuscany, lots of laughs and pleasant walk in the woods. Needles to say, we found truffles which we got to take with us and have them prepared by our hotel for a delicious truffle inspired dinner. But watching dogs work and owners interact with the dogs was what really was a piece of art to adore. Francesco is “lagotto whisperer”. This will be one of our favorite unique experiences from Toscana. We would love to repeat the tour in the future when we come to Tuscany. Grazie Francesco and the team!

Francesco is a gem of knowledge and the perfect guide in the woods. His genuine passion for truffle hunting is contagious and made our experience fun and unforgettable.

This was amazing, we went looking for truffles with Francesco and his gorgeous dog. We then met the puppy two months and saw how they play with truffle, part of early training. To end the journey we had great wine and food with our truffles... Well worth it

After another tour abruptly cancelled on us, we searched for "truffles" in Google maps and found Tuscany Truffle Hunters. Not only did they save the day but the overall experience was better than we could have hoped.

We arrived at Francesco's house and jumped into his truck with his daughter Noemi (a great translator) and two pups. Within 20 minutes we were in the woods funding truffles.

They took us to 3 spots, including Francesco's grandmother's property where we got me meet and pet a baby deer! Note that the deer wasn't part of the tour so dont be upset if you dont get that experience.

Overall this was a fantastic service, provided by a great family. The price was great too!

I would definitely reccomend this to family and friends and I'll be calling the Tuscany Truffle Hunters next time I'm in Italy.

I cannot recommend truffle hunting with Francesco enough! We were a large group of 11 so he had his good friend Andrei assist. Both Francesco and Andrei were so kind and caring for everyone. Watching the dogs and their drive to find truffles was exciting, especially when they found truffles. After the hunt, we went to La Cantina dei Tartufi and it was hands down the best truffle food we had during our entire trip.

Wonderful experience. Francesco and his wife took us out for black truffle hunting with their sweet and hard working dogs. Although not in high season, we did find a good portion of truffels. Francesco explained it all very well and we learned a lot. Highly recommended, a hard working and honest family, lots of respect to keep this tradition going. Off the beaten track, would love to do it again

We managed to find Francesco last minute through Google maps as we really loved to do some truffle hunting but couldn't find something we wanted when in Alba. A few hours later we were running through the forest chasing his dogs and an even so excited Francesco! What an experience, Francesco is such a funny and crazy dude, and his daughter was absolutely lovely and great at translating a lot for us. This definitely was one of the highlights of our two week holiday in Italy! Thanks again so much!!!

We had a really great experience when joining Francesco for the truffle hunt near San Gimignano. Can recommend it to anyone as a unique part of your stay in Toscany.

Don’t look any further. This is a professional truffle hunter, who hunts truffles for a living. He will take you with him and explain you some important aspects of the truffles. He has many dogs going after the truffles and goes to the forrest. It was amazing and topped nearly all other experiences we had in Tuscany. Don’t miss it!

Один из хайлайтов нашего путешествия по Италии! Франческо - мастер своего дела и, несмотря на то, что мы были в ‘низкий сезон’ для охоты (конец октября), за 2,5 часа Салли, Нуаро и Энжи (очень крутые собаки, которые буквально не отрывают нос от земли, а если учуяли трюфель - копают, как сумасшедшие) под его руководством нашли много небольших белых трюфелей с божественным запахом) Франческо рассказал все, что мы хотели узнать на английско-инальянском, но в этом был свой шарм, и мы все поняли. В общем, рекомендую, это стоило того)

P.s.: с Франческо лучше связываться по WhatsApp. И не забудьте правильно одеться для похода в лес (конечно, опираясь на сезон) - удобная обувь, закрытые части тела, куртка - в лесу прохладно (мы были в кроссовках и спортивной одежде). Будете продираться через кусты и прыгать через маленькие обрывы, а если подойдёте к копающей собаке близко - будьте готовы, что вас засыпет землей) но все это очень весело, действительно, стоит сходить на такую ‘охоту’ хотя бы раз в жизни!

Definitiv einer der Höhepunkte unseres Urlaubs! Wir waren 2.5h auf Trüffeljagd. Es ging über Stock und Stein und Gebüsch. Obwohl wir außerhalb der „Saison“ unterwegs waren, konnten die Hunde ca. 200gr an Trüffel finden. Die Aufregung der Hunde, als auch die von Francesco, beim Aufspüren eines Trüffels, ist unbeschreiblich. Francesco erklärt einem alles zur Materie - zwar nicht in perfektem English aber umfassend und authentisch.

Лучший опыт охоты за трюфелем и домашнего обеда с трюфельщиком, в кругу итальянской семьи. За 20 мин собрали килограмм трюфеля. Потрясающие дочери, теплая атмосфера уюта, интересные истории, лучшие сладости в Тоскане и все это у подножья Сан-Джиминьяно, городка башен. А также можно потискать собак пароды Лаготто Романьело и увезти с собой щенка. Приезжайте, останетесь в восторге!
