Hozantei

Upon arrival at Kurokawa, we did all the touristy things around the central area, including indulging on snacks and trying out different public baths.
We set out in search of an authentic onsen ryokan experience and couldn’t have been happier with what Hozantei offered us. We realised the private baths on site were it after having tried public baths in town. While Hozantei is tucked away, it is essentially a staycation with everything you need on site. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast kept our bellies very happy. Highly recommend!

Hozantei combines Kurokawa onsen local culture with representing traditional Japanese ryokan in this area. The food, service, and room made me feel back to the old days and I really enjoyed this. I definitely will come back and won’t go to another Ryokan. Price is reasonable as well 😊

The staff is great! Special mention to JinA Kim who was very friendly and very helpful. The owner gave extra special treatment to the guests. We were pampered. The location is perfect especially if you enjoy walking trails. The rooms were beautiful and the onsen was wonderful!

Located away from busy town. Best if you like tranquil and be surrounded by nature. The whole complex is very quite, which we liked.

We stayed in a room with an in-room hot spring. Although it is just outside the room, it was private. Room was clean and spacious. We stayed in a Japanese style room so no bed but there are Western style rooms with beds.

All the staffs were extremely pleasant and interactive. Dinner and breakfast were both fantastic.

Lovely place for a vacation. We don't live in Japan so we would not be able to go frequently but if we have a chance, we would definitely visit here again.

The best experience I ever had. The "Momiji" room and hot spring with a view of a small waterfall is Amazing! The dinner is beyond imagination...even too much and too beautiful... especialy the sashimi part. And, the most important is the staff are all very kind, polite, and with genuine smile, this makes such a difference. (The other hotel we stayed the next day in Kurogawa Onsen is also professionally eqipped but the male staff were not so genuine...only being professional but did not make us feel really welcomed.) We both love this and rank this as the No. 1 experience in our trip to Kyushu. 對台灣旅客特別貼心的是，老闆娘安排兩位台灣人員工負責接送、入住導覽，覺得十分親切。只會日文的員工也依然十分熱情相待，讓人有家的感覺。未來若有機會再去黑川溫泉，必定再訪帆山亭。十分推薦。

So good we didn’t want to leave! We got a room with private indoor and outdoor onsen. So lovely and quiet, hidden in the mountains. The garden with ponds was such a calm and lovely sight. The reception/cafe/bar was so comfortable and fun. Our room was lovely, spacious, clean. A home away from home. We fell asleep to the sound of the stream outside. We can see the stream and hillside from our balcony and onsens. Food was great! Service was wonderful and warm. They speak 3 languages here - English, Korean and Mandarin. Hope I will have a chance to come back. The onsen water here is very soft, our skin was smooth after bathing.

Lovely traditional Ryokan with a spectacular Kaiseki. The horsemeat sashimi and appetizer selection were truly special. Our room had a private onsen overlooking the river. Height of luxury with prices to match.

I have been here Ryokan Hozantei during Nov 21 ~ 22, 2014

I have had a fantastic experience during staying at Hozantei with warm and friendly staffs and hostess. Hozantei has beautiful garden with pond where cute ducks and very big fishes swim in. All rooms have private open-air bath. You can enjoy the stars in the midnight sky. The full course dinner was also great and delicious. A raw horse meat (masashimi) is very famous in Kumamoto and you could taste it at dinner.

One of the best Ryokans in Kyushu and among the top 5 in Minamioguni area . Tried the room (山望e湯）with an private indoor Onsen ! Very good service and food ! Pretty view in autumn and winter ! Worth a visit !

My room had a great private onsen with a superb view. Surroundings were tranquil and picturesque. Service was superb. Food was good too.

Wonderful hotspring hotel, every room has private onsen. Luckily I got a spectacular view in my room.

食事がとにかく素晴らしい。夕ご飯、朝ご飯ともに良いが、特に夕ご飯の見せ方は、趣向が凝らされており、国内外の方が楽しめると思う。ボリュームもかなり多く、途中で一品が食べ切られなかったのが悔しいくらいあった。質、量ともデザートまで素晴らしい。
お部屋は寝風呂、露天風呂付きであったが、湯質は素晴らしく、肌も髪の毛もツルツルになった。ただし、湯温が低いのが残念。熱湯好きの方は少し物足りないと思う。
敷地内には、温泉卵、占い、鯉、鴨などがいる池、珈琲が楽しめる別館など、コンパクトなつくりながら、色々見どころが多い。部屋数は少ないのでとても穏やかで癒される空間である。
珈琲が楽しめる別館にある当温泉を作るときのアルバムが楽しく、これを拝見すると宿により親しみを持てた。
ご飯処のスタッフのかた、女将さん（骨折されていたが、珈琲の別館でご挨拶頂いた）なと、とても雰囲気もよく、サービスもよく、大変癒された。
総合して価格以上のパフォーマンスが味わえる
また伺いたい宿。とてもおすすめ。
