Pâtisserie Roku

Patisserie Roku, Kurokawa had been on our list to visit while planning our 2-week trip itinerary. It surely did not disappoint us. The choux cream puff is super popular and you would understand why once you take a bite into it. If cloud- like texture is a thing this would probably be it. Fluffy and light cream within the thin puff pastry, with a tiny touch of coffee crust, it is very memorable. The velvety pudding, imbued with the richness of good quality vanilla seeds. The only pity is the use once then disposed glass jar. Can't stop us from getting it again tomorrow before we leave.

We also tried their Mont blanc, a chest nut dessert is a must during autumn.

There are many other cakes and as usual it is impossible to try all in one seating.

A solid 5-star for me.

Bought their pudding, cream puff and kakazaka (as souvenir at home). Their cream puff is soooo good! The pie is crispy while the cream is rich and has lots of vanilla bean. And the pudding exceeded my expectations! I think it’s the best pudding I tasted. I wished I bought another one for the next day as they are closed every Tuesdays.

Next time, I want to try the cheesecake, mochi and roll cake.

Best shu-cream in the whole prefecture :) Great little charming shop in Kurokawa onsen. If you're staying in the area this is worth popping in to. However, if you are driving by, you might find access difficult, since you'll need to park at the top and walk down the stairs.

Superb cream filled puff pastry. Best I've ever had. This was incredible. Also had the strawberry mochi which was also incredible. Also probably a third of the price you would pay in Hawaii for a much lesser Hawaii version.

Delicious mochi with cream! Would be even better if the camembert cheesecake was sold individually, as the whole pie is 🫨

Very fluffy puff with a crunchy top shell and packed with very light but flavoursome cream!

Their swiss roll is beautifully done too! I will rate their swiss roll better than the famous one from Bspeak Yufuin.

Try a custard cream bun- delicious. This place is popular and the smell coming from the shop draws you in. Only takeout options.

Wow. I loved the custard bun with the crusty top. The crust has this gorgeous crunch and the custard is a great texture with the right sweetness.

We bought custard puff, cheese cake and Swiss roll - all very delicious. Service was excellent

The only place that I will eat melon pan in ALL of Japan. Their Roku-roll and chocolate cake are also good, but I returned many a time for a delicious custard filled treat!

Buy a couple of these puff as it is super delicious and eat them right away. It is to die for like how some blogs describe it

Amazzzzzing mochi that had a raspberry cheese filling. Mochi was so soft and chewy, it was divine. Have yet to try the award-winning chocolate cake but can't wait!

Yummy cake and egg pudding. It closes at 18:00, better to check-in early so that you have plenty of time to shop.

Variety of cakes, cookies, dessert available. We had the coffee jelly, custard, cheesecake mochi, cheesecake. Delicious, good quality ingredients used. Service staff are very friendly and can speak some English. Highly recommend to visit and dine here. Seating available
