Miyama Sanso

This is one of the best places I have ever visited/stayed. Service excellent, room was almost a whole house with private outdoor space. Inside and outside bath. Dinner and breakfast included in charge. So relaxing - should have stayed longer.

Luxury ryokan! Nice service, delicious meal. Private onsen, hot spring, in each room. You can enjoy onsen in the sister ryokan Yama mizuki. I love this place. Maybe revisit next year.

My partner and I recently stayed at Miyama Sanso for two nights in April 2023. We traveled all the way from New York City and the ryokan exceeded all of our expectations. Every single person we encountered at the ryokan was incredibly kind and helpful. We have traveled all over the world and this ranks as one of our favorite stays ❤. Hands down the best onsen hotel I've stayed at. It was a hard decision because the entire Kurokawa/Beppu/Oita area has tons of onsen hotels and we soon found ourselves in an awkward position with one too many good hotel options. But as soon as we arrived Miyama Sanso proved to be the best choice. The staff was extremely friendly, especially one who I named Mr Happy who seemed to be enjoying everything he was doing. He ended up being the person who first greeted us, and the last person to send us away, and probably one of the main reasons why I'd wanna go back. The hotel park is huge as well as the rooms. You get your own house that you'd share with another unit, but to go to the restaurant and the public onsens you'd have to leave the house and walk a little bit. The onsens both in the room and the public ones were super nice. Since we're the sister hotel of Yamamizuki, guests of Miyama are granted access to the public onsens to Yamamizuki's on top of Miyama's. Rumor has it that the ones at Yamamizuki were the most popular public onsens in the Kurokawa area. I tried the one for women -- Mori no Yu (Onsen of the Forest), and it was indeed very nice. It was literally in a forest. It's a true joy and privilege to enjoy the nice forest view and the steaming river gushing next to you while sitting in the hot water. There's a lot of small details that show the effort and thoughtfulness of Miyama. Every guest get their own outdoor comfy wear, pajamas, and slippers. To keep you warm in those outdoor walking that will happen, you also get a very warm and nice looking poncho coat. Their food is also delicious and nicely presented. My boyfriend doesn't eat seafood. As soon as they learned that they went the extra mile of preparing him a separate set of food. When you're ready to check out, if you need any help with the heavy luggages, just give the front desk a call and they'll send a golf cart down to carry the luggages and the guests up. We were extremely lucky to be going at the perfect season of autumn and all the red leaves were a cherry on top that completed the experience. Really happy with everything. Totally worth the travel and the money!

Best. Onsen. Experience. Ever!
Imho I think the service, environment and the food makes it well worth the price.
I would recommend changing the bento box dinner to the kaiseki one. The higo beef and the amount you get is well worth the extra cost.

We stayed in a semi-western-stylr room with private open air bath (also a indoors one). On the Miyama Sansou website, it's a B-1 type room.

Excellent ryokan. A little further out from Kurokawa, 5 minute's drive. If you don't have a car they can arrange a pick-up from Kurokawa town. Large and comfy accommodation. The surrounding area is also nice to walk around. Around mid to late April, you'll be able to see their cherry blossoms bloom. Food is excellent, definitely go halfboard.

The best onsen you can enjoy the scent of natural during onsen. This is the best ryokan I’ve ever been. Beautiful and nice place.

It's no doubt the best onsen resort I'v ever experienced. The facility is excellent. Incredible nice and delicate service and delicious meal.

Clean, beautiful, friendly staff all around. Quite a experience of Japanese style hotel at a reasonable cost.

１年に一度は必ず泊っている大好きなお宿です。
スタッフさんのホスピタリティ、お部屋の設え、露天風呂や、お部屋備え付けのお風呂、お食事、部屋着に至るまでどれをとっても本当にこの価格で良いの!?という体験ができます。
今まで、友達、夫婦、家族で来ましたが、同行者は全員大満足してくれています。
特に、家族と来た際は両親の還暦祝いということを事前に伝えると、スタッフの方がケーキや、赤いちゃんちゃんこを用意して下さり、本当に手厚く出迎えて頂き、一同大感激で一生の思い出になりました。（本当にありがとうございました）

また、作務衣タイプの部屋着と寝巻があるのですが、これが本当に気持ちよくてよく寝れます。

お部屋タイプは、個人的には内風呂のみのタイプで洋室タイプがおススメです。
系列の、山みず木のお風呂と深山山荘のお風呂両方入ることが出来ますので、とってもお得だと思います。
山みずきの露天風呂は、川のせせらぎを横目に、景色が良く大自然の中で解放感があります。
また、深山山荘専用の露天風呂も、プライベート感があってまた全然別の良さがあり、特に夏場は、空もスッキリして満点の星空を眺めながら夜入ることができます。

箱根で2名10万円の高級旅館にも全く引けを取らない、圧倒的コスパと非日常感が体験できるので、東京からでも今後も通い続けたいです！

オススメの季節は、青々と草原～黄金色の草原に変わっていく７月～９月です。夏の温泉の良さを深山山荘で知りました！

位置在離黑川溫泉街有一小段距離的山裡，非常安靜清幽。
房間是獨棟的villa，房間非常大，還有自己的私湯。

服務非常好，服務人員也非常細心。預定時可填寫到達的時間段，會有接站服務，由於一開始寫錯了巴士到達的時間，酒店還特地寫了郵件過來二次確認，細心滿分！

當天11:20巴士一到站，就看到服務人員舉牌在站前等候。由於15:00才可check in，服務人員會先將行李帶走，而我們可以先去溫泉主街逛逛、吃午飯，同時並附贈了旅遊地圖、溫泉券及毛巾，14:45會再來接我們前往入住。另外，凡是深山山莊的住客，可以同時體驗新明館的洞穴溫泉以及隔壁山水木的溫泉，所以包含深山山莊的大眾湯及私湯，至少有四種以上的溫泉可以體驗。

總體而言體驗感非常好，酒店流程安排合理，且每個工作人員都有問有答，信息傳遞流暢，餐食也非常不錯，住宿性價比很高，非常推薦！

１０月１８日に一泊させてもらいました。
お部屋も良くて気持ちよく過ごせました。
浴衣の他に寝るとき用のパジャマもとてもリラックスできるものでした。
夕飯に食べた肥後牛や前菜なども全て最高でした。
ありがとうございました。
また利用させてもらいます。
男湯　川のそばの露天風呂は迫力があって最高です。夜と朝に入浴しましたが個人的には夜がおすすめです。

1月30日に宿泊しましたが施設は最高です。また、夕食やチェックアウトの際に対応してくださった女性従業員の方がすごく素敵でした。
また行きたいです。

母との九州旅で4月に利用させていただきました。
深山山荘、と〜っても静かで空気もお食事も美味しく、お風呂がとにかく素晴らしかったです。
山みず木にある大浴場も川が目の前で広々としていて良かったのですが、深山山荘のお部屋についている源泉かけ流しのお風呂がとっても気持ちが良かったです。
九州旅行初日、楽しく迎えることができました☻
あと、お食事でいただくお米がすごく美味しかったです。また訪れたいお宿です。
