Very welcoming place. The temple's various sections are majestic & beautiful; worthy of praise. If you come here, give yourself t least three or four hours to fully enjoy it, because there is so much to see! Making a wish to the temple monks & receiving the gift to post in a high place in your home was the greatest part. I wished for myself a long & healthy life and for world peace/no more war. After departing the temple, I felt so good/blessed. It was definitely worth it. By the way, bring lots of ¥ change with you, because there is many opportunities to give to the temple and it is ¥5,000 tom make two wishes to the temple monk(s). 🛕 Good luck, everyone!

Amazing place! You will need to pay to access the statue area but it is only $5 and you can walk to the top of the statue and there is a museum under it too. They have information about the statue in English too. There are viewing windows inside the staute where you can get a good view of the city. You are allowed to open the windows.

Beautiful Replica of Mahābodhi temple
(lit: "Great Awakening Temple")
and a giant 62-meter-tall statue of Kannon,
the Goddess of Mercy.

Modern Buddhist temple with a building based on the Maha bodhi temple in India and a giant Kannon statue. Adult entry was about 500 yen but that allows you to climb to the top of the statue. Within the statue there are small windows that can be opened to see the view. Not the best observation experience but still worth going to see the statue. There is also a museum with displays and a display on heaven and hell.

Its main feature, a 62-meter-tall statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, can be seen from miles around.
Rich history at this temple. Worth the trip there!

DEFINITELY worth the trip out here and the 500 yen entrance fee! Unique experience climbing the statute but also some incredible exhibits of art with glittering rock mosaics and the really elaborate (and cool/scary) Buddhist hell tour

The Daihonzan Naritasan Kurume Temple was founded in 1958 after part of the spiritual embodiment from the Daihonzan Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Chiba Prefecture was given to the temple. It is famous for housing the Fudo Myo, or the Buddhist Vicarious Protector. The interior of the 62 meter (203 foot) tall statue of the Affectionate Mother Kannon (the largest such statue in Japan!) is an observation deck.
In recent years, the temple has also been able to boast of the 38-meter (125-foot) high Indian Village Heiwa Daibutsu Tower and Hall (a replica of the one in India’s Budh Gaya) constructed on its grounds. The tower is the only the second of its kind in the world, and the first in Japan!

What is lovely about this temple, that it is far from roads, there is a museum inside, the ticket is 500¥ to see the museum, the staff there are very polite and helpful.

A nice place to visit, you can climb inside the statue and there is a very beautiful museum underground. From kurume it takes 25 minutes by bus
