It's as good as they say. You order via a Tablet and there is a way to switch the Menu to English, we needed help.

Gyozas were great as well as the fried rice but clearly we were here for the Ramen.

They have 3 kinds: original, Shoyu and another one (or two??) I didn't fully understand.

We tried first two, both were different and good. You can chose the firmness of the noodles, in hindsight I should have chosen Firm

This is a very popular ramen restaurant in Kurume City. The staff worked in a division of labor, with the manager serving the soup and ingredients in bowls. This ramen is full of attention to detail!

Amazing ramen in Kurume. I ordered the old fashioned. The rice ball with mayonnaise was especially good. Highly recommend this shop.

Excellent ramen restaurant with a long standing history. Must try ramen when you are in the area. Their can be a line but it moves pretty fast. The set meal is great to be able to try different things they have on the menu. Free parking spots are located in front and to the side of the building.

This is where it all started. Taihou (Cannon) Ramen's first store. I would say it is characterised by an attempt to provide a traditional pork bone broth that is at the same time, healthy and not too thick or smelly. Kurume is the home of ramen flavoured with soup made of crushed pork bones. The soup can be so thick that you feel that all the oil and salt will give you a heart attack or brain aneurysm, and that the smell of the pork bones is enough to make one want to wear a clothes peg. But that is a thing of the past. The Taihou group made a healthier compromise pork bone broth that appeals to traditionalist and ladies alike. The story of the owners efforts was made into a manga and then a film (see photos). There are now several other branches. We usually go to the one behind Kurume station because this one is a bit too cozy and it is the busiest often with long queues stretching well outside the store. As the original it may be the tastiest but I can't tell the difference. All the Taihou restaurants are delicious.

Awesome tonkotsu ramen with thick voluptuous broth that had a signature smell of deep pork bone broth .Would be perfect for a cold winter day. Every drop is like liquid bliss.

Took a while to find this ramen place on foot but it's near the train station and bus terminal. The chaa shuu ramen has all the basic items and tastes great! Don't forget to add on rice and gyoza 👍

They have an English menu, ask for one

A must-visit to get a sense of the history of Kurume ramen, as they also carry the old-school ramen on the menu. The atmosphere is very classy, except for the staffers who are busy keeping everything perfect. Memorable taste for sure. Just try to call ahead to avoid crowds or long waits. Best when visited during off-peak hours.

I went traditional, and if you like flavour, I recommend it.

Easy parking opposite the joint. Distinct smell sets this ramen apart from others. Some may find it 'stinky'.

Had the comparison set, and couldn't tell much difference between the old and new. Both were great. I would come back.
