Yonago Castle Ruins

Gorgeous views of the city. Hard to get to unless you time the bus schedules well or have a car.

Impressive ruins very close to town and the route from the station to the ruins goes through many historical building and sights. There are many stone steps to get up to the ruins, but there are bamboo poles at the base for you to use if you like. Return once you come down from the top. It would be lovely in Sakura season, but it was also nice in autumn. At the top there are benches and an undercover seating area. There are info guides and maps. It’s 10- 15 mins to get up, depending how “stair fit” you are. You can descend a different way if you wish.

You can climb the little hill in about 10 minutes from Minatoyama park. There are some signs in English when you reach the top, but nothing during the hike. The view is beautiful, especially during the cherry blossom season.

You will mesmerize by the view of Yonago city.

At one side there is Mt. Daisen opposite to it there will be sunset view. Lake and seashore all over gives you very good vibes about nature.

Small trek to mountain. Just follow steps. You will love this place. Carry your headphones as you will love to stay here long listening your favourite picks.

One of my favorite spots in all of Yonago. Although the trek to the top takes about 15-20 minutes, the view is well worth it in any season!

The stamp is located at Yonago San'in History Museum and was outside the main entrance. Can get the stamp outside of opening hours which was nice.

Great view from castle.

Great view of the entire area, including the Nakaumi inland sea, the Japan Sea, Mt Daisen and the city of Yonago. Also great castle walls (ishigaki). Very close to the station and right in the center of town.

Great little hike with views all around, I recommend biking around Nakaumi after or before

【歴史】
米子城は、吉川広家が湊山を中心に築城したのが始まりとされています。関ケ原の戦いの後、広家は岩国に転封となり、代わりに駿河から入った中村一忠によって城が完成しました。当時の米子城は、五重の天守閣と四重の副天守閣を持つ、壮麗な城であったと伝えられています。明治維新の後、米子城は払い下げられ、建物は取り壊されましたが、石垣などは現在も往時の姿をとどめています。

【アクセス】
米子駅から自転車で約5分の場所にあります。米子市立山陰歴史館からも近いです。

【感想】
米子城は見事な石垣が特徴で、山頂に位置する本丸からの360度の景色は圧巻です。本丸に立つと心が豊かになるのを感じます。登城口からの道のりは整備されており、安心して登ることができます。

山城なので、スニーカーの着用が必須です。本丸まではやや険しい道を徒歩で約20分です。登城口の「枡形」には杖が置いてあり、途中で休憩している方もよく見かけます。行きはもちろん、特に帰りの道には注意が必要です（下り道は脚への負担が大きく、登りでの疲労もあるため）。

天候の良くなく、時間のあまりないときに足を運んでしまいましたが、絶対また行きたいと思える、素晴らしい規模と景色の場所でした。四季折々の良さがありそうですが、自然も繁茂してますので真夏は避けたほうが良いような気もします。
米子市は中海の端にありますので、松江や境港のような景色のイメージはありませんが、こちらの大きなお城の跡から臨むと絶景が愉しめます。
とても大きなお城であるのもあり、石垣の一番上こと天守跡まで行くのにかなりの石段を登ります。体力はある程度求められますのでご注意ください。また、下山時のルートはお城の周囲を伝うように降りていきますので、自分がどこにいるのかわからなくなります。ただ、中海の景色がとても良いので、このルートもじっくり時間をかけて回りたいところです。
観光地としても静かな場所ですが、是非足を運んでもらいたい、山陰を代表する良いところです。

標高約90メートルですが、本来まで登るのは結構しんどかったです。
でも、本丸からの眺めは最高です。
米子市街地が一望でき、中海から大山まで大パノラマが素晴らしいです。

大小天守を持つ山陰随一の名城！

近隣に、米子市立山陰歴史館があり伺いたかったのですが、火曜日は休館日でした。

米子城跡に。上までは15分ほど登りますが、登り切ると美しい景色が。大山から中海まで見渡せる唯一無二の場所だと思います。なぜ、こんなに人が少ないのか不思議なくらい、美しい景色を堪能できる場所です。
おすすめです。※少なくともスニーカーで。
