Best ski resort for Tokyoites. 2 hours by Shinkansen. Awesome trails, mild winters, vast variety of restaurants. And, wait for it, the library is to die for.

The ski organisation was impeccable. Everything was easy and the food at the ski station was pretty good. Highly recommend this place.

Beautiful setting. End of season so limited snow and a bit quiet. Only one restaurant was open, and very expensive. Lots of green season hikes, fun slopes literally at your doorstep in season. Free shuttle to the train station which is helpful if you don't have your own car. Lots to see accessible by public transport from Joetsumyoko station.

LOTTE ARAI Resort, we couldn’t be happier. We stayed there for 5 nights during winter. The room was spacious, the only downfall was that the single beds couldn’t be made into a double bed so my husband and I had to sleep apart. Not ideal. But otherwise we loved it! Quite a few food options, and a convenient store. Laundry facilities came in handy too. The onsen was amazing!! Imagine a hot outdoor spa while the snow is falling - just magical! There were ski lockers so you didn’t have to bring everything up into your room. The ski field was incredible and food options reasonable and super tasty.

We tried the karaoke and had the best night!! Such good value for money too! There were so many places to try we ran out of nights. The Japanese restaurant was spectacular! As Australians the staff helped us so much in understanding the best cooking techniques.

We must have been in peak holiday season but it really didn’t feel like there were heaps of people. Breakfast buffet was ok, but after the 3rd it got a bit repetitive. Would be great if they mixed it up a bit.

Overall we had a wonderful holiday! Such a relaxing time!

We went there for the summer holidays and it has been overall an excellent experience.
We stayed in one of the characters' room (Koala's march) and it instantly became the kiddos' favorite hotel. It was very nicely decorated and the gifts were much appreciated.
The facilities are well maintained and there is a lot to do between the pool, the tree adventures and the others activities. Enough to enjoy for a few days.
The different restaurants were good but with a bit of inequality in the quality.
Maybe because of summer season or Covid (or both), it didn't feel crowded and that way was even more enjoyable.
Stunning mountain view and beautiful nature all around.
Very satisfied ☺

very cozy and convinient ski-in ski-out resort. the service was great, and there were about 5-6 restaurants in the resort itself, so we could just stay in the hotel après-ski. although the breakfast buffet didn’t have a large variety of selections, the food quality was great. the mountain also had great powder snow and is great for both beginners and for people who want to go off-piste.

the steakhouse was actually the best restaurant out of all, but it was so under the radar. the restaurant didn’t have as many signs, but the food was absolutely amazing.

the gondola and ski rental station was very near the hotel, with around a 3 minute walk only. in between the buildings of the hotel there were some parts that were outdoors so for example when we went to the onsen it would be really cold.

with tons of facilities such as the zipline, kids playground, pool and onsen, karoake bar etc… this was great! the karoake bar was also very underrated, and had great food, service and a lot of song choices to choose from.

This resort is palacious and the mountain is epic! We had a 31cm fall overnight and they had everything open for hiking before 10am. The skiing was other-worldly, with awesome tree skiing and plenty of steeps. The only downside is there are very few features or rocks to hit.

The resort itself has beautiful design everywhere, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The building reminds me of the Lodge in Yellowstone National Park.

The Spa!! OMG… the spa is the best I’ve ever been to. A private, multi-onsen palace is yours to yourself before an incredibly talented woman gave me the best massage of my life.

I went March 1-4th, and there were very few people there during the week - almost nobody - which kept the snow good for a while.

I hope I can come back!

It was an awesome hotel and the rooms were very spacious. During winter, it is one of the best ski spots and there is a gondola which you can ride to get very high up the mountain. Inside the hotel, there are many restaurants and an onsen with snow right next to you. There is also a pool and a lounge. It was an amazing experience and will come back again.

Beautiful facility, amazing staff, comfortable rooms, delicious food, and lasting memories! enjoyed my stay. I recommend trying the zip line!

The shuttle from the train station was easy to find and very convenient. The drivers are so nice and friendly. The front desk staff welcomed me like family. They did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable. Thank you so much!! I want to come back.

The facilities are recently built, modern and very impressive!! We stayed to use the resort at a base for traveling around the area. Most of the ski-runs were closed. Our room was huge, but dark as the window was small, and the floor was dark wood. The bathroom was modern. We had indoor parking.

On our package, everything involved an extra charge. So we did not use any of the restaurants, but their appearance is attractive. The resort is not close (eg walking distance) to shops or other restaurants. The area is devoid of other attractions, eg temples.

Beautiful place with lots of snow even in March. The resort also has family-friendly facilities like kids room and sled playground. Kids ski school is very helpful and English instructor available so you leave your kids at school and enjoy the ski.

We stayed for 10 days in Dec 2019 at the Lodge, Lotte Arai Resort. Firstly the customer service from the resort staff and especially manager, Kenneth was outstanding! Having English speaking staff made communication much easier and Kenneth went above and beyond with helping solve our problems.
The resort was conveniently located, with a free shuttle bus service offered to and from Joetsumyoko station and a nearby restaurant area. It was a shame there was not much snow but the top of the mountain was still open which had nice blue-black runs, but a very small slope area (with no magic carpet or machinery) for beginners. The resort's buffet breakfast, Japanese seafood buffet dinner and Korean restaurant were the stand-outs for us! The onsen and pool areas are very luxurious with saunas and steam rooms.
At first, the resort wasn't that easy to navigate since it is laid out in a strip and going from one side to the other took a couple of minutes with some parts of it being outside. This is a minor negative for us as daily walks to the breakfast, dinner and onsen/pool weren't that convenient.

Came here in mid-July during the State of Emergency. The whole resort was empty so it was great to not have to deal with crowds and could easily keep distance from others.

The plaza at night time was quite nice and the fireworks 🎆 are kind of fun.

One of the most luxurious skiing destinations in Japan, priced as so but worth the money if that's what you're looking for. Skiing is amazing especially after a lot of snowfall since the entire mountain is basically ungroomed. Powder paradise!

At the time of writing this, the resort had just opened 4 months. So there maybe teething issues between the different departments and set activities, especially the timing of opening and closing.
The check in was fast and a were in our rooms very fast. However upon check in, we had to remind the staff to take a deposit and give us ski locker keys... and most important where to buy the lift tickets with opening and closing times. Typically of ski resorts, the snow condition and opened runs and lifts are also shown at the check in counter. Mind you there are 4 buildings with 3 different check in counters.
The skiing here is very nice, it seems to be geared towards the not advanced skiers for now. The off piste is really fun with long runs, trees, open areas but you must hike up to the peak to gain access. This could be 25 min to 45 min hike depending on your stamina and determination.
Beside skiing, there is zip touring, bouldering, trampoline, tubing, a huge pool and many onsens.
The food here is very good, but pricy. The cheapest would be at the gondola or regina bakery.
Lotte has economical rooms at Arai. Bigger rooms at Lodge. And biggest luxury rooms at the Club. The highest class rooms in tge Nest. These are separate buildings. Nest being closest to the gondola and ticket station. Being close to all the activity center, also means some noise.

We stayed in "Koala’s March Family Triple Room" (コアラのマーチ ファミリーツイン)that was newly available from this summer. The room of design was so pretty so that all of us had a lot of fun in there!
"Hoshizora Onsen”(星空温泉)was very comfortable to relax , especially, the open-air bath outside(露天風呂)brought us wonderful time!

A nice and decent resort in Myoko. There is a free shuttle bus scheduled every 1~2 hours to/from JR station/resort. If you take taxi from Jōetsumyōkō Station to resort, it charged about 5000 yen.

Checkin staff was nice and the room assigned to us was big enough. There are 4~5 restaurants with different dishes. The most delicious is the "Korea" one. After all "Lotte" is from Korea right?

It is convenience to rent the ski gear just next to the resort and there is a food court too.

In house guest can enjoy free onsen inside the resort. Its nice and comfortable when you were exhausted after skiing whole day.
