Great Melon pan with ice cream in.
Ordered the matcha soft serve as the filling. It’s a heavy portioning. Match ice cream is a little too sweet as if finish one whole piece by yourself.
The melon bun is soft and crispy. Will go for the bun only the next time. Though with sugar coating, but not that sweet.
Friendly staff and surprised they opened earlier.

I wasn't sure what to expect when this got recommended to me to try, but I am glad I tried it this morning! The bun was beautiful, warm and fluffy on the inside and the crust was nice and crispy. The matcha ice cream tasted so good with the freshly baked, warm bread. The components complimented each other extremely well! The line looked long but in about 3min I was being served. Even on a busy Sunday serving time and effectiveness was high!

We visited on a Thursday around 12 PM and there was no line. We got a melon pan with matcha ice cream and a melon pan with vanilla ice cream. The bun is quite large and soft with a crispy top! It was very full with good matcha ice cream. You could easily share this with another person but you won't be disappointed to have a whole one to yourself. I preferred the matcha ice cream over the vanilla. Definitely worth a stop to get a plain melon pan or ice cream filled melon pan.

Yummy! The melon bread was warm and freshly baked, sandwiching the cold soft matcha ice cream, simply perfection. There is a line though since it’s popular.

The place actually opens earlier than google page indicated time. The store has a sign in front of it specifying the time they are opening for the day. Service is fast, melon bun is amazing, combined with the matcha ice cream, you get that icy/warm, soft and crunchy duet which was quite the experience. Highly recommend to at least try the melon bun.

do not be fooled by the pictures - the bread and ice cream portion is HUGE! I got the bread with matcha ice cream and they were both great, but with the matcha ice cream, you won't be able to taste the flavour of the bread 😅🤣 I would recommend sharing this with a friend if you're planning to have lunch after this, otherwise you'll be kinda full for a while.

We got the vanilla and matcha pineapple buns. It was definitely worth the wait to get this and I'm glad I decided to try it after seeing it on instagram.

Ice cream sandwich, Japanese style! The bread is crunchy with a soft center. I tried the matcha soft serve. It was okay. Curious about the sweet potato one because it was sold out.

Must try classic if you're at Asakusa, highly recommend their original melon pan, or with whipped cream. Cash only

The melon bun here is a marvel of contrasts: the outer crust is crispy and sakusaku (crunchy), while the inside remains funwari (fluffy), even after a day. The crystallized sugar on top adds just the right amount of sweetness, complementing the rich butter and milk flavors.

If you’re in Tokyo and have a sweet tooth, a visit to Asakusa Kagetsudō is a must!

This bakery has mastered the art of melon pan, serving up buns that are nothing short of heavenly.
Each melon pan boasts a perfect contrast with a crispy exterior and a supremely soft interior. The taste is exceptional—truly finger-licking good. The delightful texture and flavor make these buns a standout treat.
Highly recommend stopping by Asakusa Kagetsudō to experience what might just be the best melon pan in the city!

The melon pan costs 300 yen and payment only in cash

The best melon pan. I would suggest getting either the milk cream filling or the basic unfilled version first, just so you can appreciate how incredible the base flavour of this bread is. The cream is soft and slightly sweet, providing textural counterpoint to the fluffy bread and crispy outer crust. And that crust is absolutely divine, with a sublime crunch and the densest sweetness present in the bun. This is a killer item and worthy of any and all praise lavished upon it.

The line was a bit long but moves really quickly, as they have everything ready and a smart ticketing system. The cream filling is done right before the bun is given to you, and should be enjoyed immediately.

The melon pan is so tasty! The vanilla ice cream was a great addition, especially on a hot day.

One of the street foods that is worth trying in Asakusa in the Senso Ji area. The bread/bun with flavored ice cream, it's tasty and worth it! Usually the line here is very long but moves very quickly, because everything here is ready to serve!

We took the most basic version (without cream). We didn't regret it and were even willing to stand in the long line again to buy more. One of the best and tastiest breads I have eaten in Japan. A cross between a cookie and bread. It is highly recommended!

Was recommended by John Daub from Only In Japan on YouTube.

I went to this place on my second day in Japan and had their whipped cream melon pan. It did not disappoint with its crunchy exterior and fragrant interior. Although the top crust is made with sugar and butter, it doesn’t taste sweet at all and most of the sweetness came from the whipped cream which was very fresh as it melted as I ate the melon pan.

I went back closer to the end of my trip in Japan to try their matcha ice cream melon pan and their regular melon pan. The matcha one complements the melon pan really well with its rich matcha flavor paired with crunchiness of the melon pan while their regular melon pan is just as delicious and you can feel the fluffiness of the insides as you eat it.

Overall, a hidden local gem of Asakusa which warrants the long lines and I recommend coming early to get your melon pan fix.
