Nikko Park Lodge Mountain Side

Had a lovely time staying 1 night here. Be aware the hostel is located around 20min walk from the train station, which I absolutely loved because it was surrounded by beautiful forest, but if you are not a big walker or have a lot of luggage it might be a bit far. I also took a taxi from the train station and it cost 700 yen. The lady who ran it was super lovely and the place was very clean. There is an awesome shower room as well with a stone tub which I never used but it looked cool. I stayed in the mixed dorm and had a very positive experience, there are lockers to lock up your personal items but everyone I met was super nice and respectful. I chose it for the price and location and was pleasantly surprised :).

I loved this place. It felt so homie and the staff was very accommodating. We walked there from the station and I'm so happy we did, with the scenery alone - we even saw some deers along the walk! The beds were comfy and the bath offered was a great start of the day.

Incredible place, to rest.

If you are travelling alone, the experience is nice, I was here in winter time, and the place is so cosy, it reminds me of my grandparents house (the decoration, the fireplace…!)

The owner is really nice and I’ve met many lonely travellers in the common area.
The dormitory is confortable.

The place is about 10min by walk from the train station, and easy to access.
I do recommend !

Nikko along with this hostel are one of those places where you can easily spend a week or more if you want to get away from the city. Location is great, a bit distanced from the village but closer to the forest. Great for those who like to walk. On top of that it is very comfortable, the hosts are splendid people, and the whole atmosphere of the house is cozy and welcoming. I highly recommend it.

I stayed there about 3 nights, 7 ~ 10 / 01 / 2023...
It was a much needed vacation so I might have a positive prejudice but here is my review;

There are two hotels managed by the same family (Nikko Park Lodge Tobu Station & Nikko Park Lodge Mountain Side.

Park Lodge T.S. is right next to station, Mountain Side is around 20-25mins walk from station. Although it is further, it is a beautiful wooden lodge with 2 floors, in a quiter area. The atmosphere of mountain lodge is beautiful.

While I was visiting they provided shuttle service at 09.00 from Mountain Side to Park Lodge T.S. and at 17.00 from Park Lodge T.S. to Mountain Side. (It was winter, roads were sometimes icy and it got dark early so I preferred shuttle than walking).

The lobby/reception is a living area. It was very cozy. There is also dormitory option but I stayed in the private rooms. The room was irregularly shaped and old but I actually felt very comfy like I was staying at a grandparent's house. Both bathroom and room were clean. My room had a nice view of the mountains that can be enjoyed from a certain angle, but still, very calming.

There was a pinboard with cards from previous visitors, and it seemed like a lot of people felt the same coziness and sincerity in this place. I felt safe and peaceful as a solo female visitor.

Amazing place. The people are very nice and the beds are as well.
Staff helped me out a lot with a booking question and i had a nice talk around the campfire at night about were good places to visit were.
Its a bit of a hike up from the station, but its a nice area to walk in and there is a shuttle service if you need it.
Breakfast and evening meal are also available

This lodge was lovely, great service, they provide a pick up option from the train station should you need it which was very helpful and the rooms were spacious, clean and cosy.
It was great the staff spoke good English, and they were very friendly, we had some nice discussions. Highly recommend this lodge for your stay in Nikko!

Excellent hostel, owner speaks English fluently as do most of the staff. Nice location on type of a mountain, takes about 10 minutes to walk to from downtown. The hostel is very cozy and unique. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Could use bigger bathrooms. I definitely suggest staying here.

The meals were amazing!! So are the people, but the hotel is in the middle of the forest, so we have to come back early after dinner. After 7pm it gets dark

Pros
.1-dont dare to walk because it's in very interior place so try taking a taxi from station will cost u unde 500-1000..
2 - Looks little creapy at night because it's dark but in morning if u look around it's quite scenic and bful....and they do provide shuttle from hotel to station ....
3- Food was good ....we order for teriyaki chicken ,spagetti for dinner and french toast,scrambelled egg and cerelas for breakfast it was delicious and we can ahve tea coffe and bread on the counter as well as hot and cold water...
They had 2 diffrent beds in the room like 1 double one single so it's was good .

Room is small.and compact
Same with washroom .but we had to just sleep at night it was ohhk and
Don't have a boiler in room.....

Great 4 nights. A great launch pad for Nikko. Affordable and great hosts in a warm charming old house.

Good surprise the hostel is really cute and look like a little chalet in the mountains, the living room is cozy with the chimney and the dorms are pretty good.

Wonderful location and very kind owners ! Very good value for money. Highly recommended !

Very friendly hosts. Well equipped room and lobby with snacks, drinks and a little library available; wifi works reliable - and, as mentioned, very friendly hosts, that even brought us to the station because of the rain and being too early for a cab. ありがたうございます!

Easy to get to by taxi or walk from the train station. They do provide a collection service from nearby the train station between 3pm and 5pm a return service at 9.30am to the train station on the day you check out. The evening meal and breakfast was very tasty. Five stars because our experience was exactly as they advertise. Very friendly owners and staff... thank you.

My wife and I loved our time here.. It was packed with Australians like us and wonderful homely feeling . Sure it wasn't as spotless as the many hotels we stayed in during our 5 week road trip BUT...how tidy is your house when you have a dozen visitors ????? I am happy to rate it as a 5...It is the only hotel in all of Japan where we felt "at home" .. Thanks for a wonderful experience..Ken and Michele...Brisbane Australia...

Such a great place. Vegan food available. The staff were very helpfull, drove us to the train station in the mornkng and gave me tips on where to go hiking. Comfortable place. Decent price too.

Great hotel, almost family atmosphere for reasonable price, tasty meals and welcoming owner. I can only recommend. There is a free shuttle from the Nikko station, the times are limited, however and it is better to contact the hotel - even in English.

Really nice hotel in Nikko. Onsen nearby. Bilingual staff, reasonable rates. Western style breakfast.
