A really fun experience for an 8 year old and her parents. Lots of fun, educational, and interactive experiences. Reasonably priced entry fee, reasonably priced snacks and foods, and a very cool playground.

Much larger and better than we expected. I typically feel a bit sorry for captive animals So zoos can be as much of a bummer as they are interesting, but these enclosures were mostly good. Definitely will recommend this to other families.

Close to Tokyo but still you can feel rich nature here. And it is very much enjoyable zoo with family members. In a adequate size, you can enjoy both watching animals and walking here.

Very big zoo with several fun activities. Nice place to spend a day. Food options are not that great but shouldn't be a problem unless you are completely vegetarian or vegan. You can bring your own tiffin and can have at many places where you find good seating arrangement.

It's so much fun! Before going there, I was expecting it to be pretty small and to get around in about 2 hours at a stretch but it's huge. You could just enjoying walking around the place but there are loads of things to do. The admission price is cheap (seemingly too cheap - I thought I had heard the wrong price) and the animals seem happy and well looked after. As well as the animals there are other things to do like the adventure playground, shops and some really good food vans as well (see photo). I am going to recommend it to everyone!

A place definitely for children! The kids will enjoy looking at the animals and they'll learn about these animals too.
The place is big for walking, good for cardio!
We recommend this place for family, just bring your stroller if you have a child.

This is one of my favorite places to take my boys and my favorite zoo in Japan. Lots of space to run around and really is a kid oriented location with friendly staff. Dress comfortably because things are quite spaced out so there is A LOT of walking unless you pay a little extra to take the 'train' that goes around the place

🦒 - Saitama Children’s Zoo:
Saitama Children’s Zoo is called the Saitama Children’s Animal Nature Park in Japanese. The zoo is in Takasaka, Higashimatsuyama on the Tobu Tojo line from Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It is fantastic value for money, but furthermore it is one of the best days out for children in Saitama prefecture. It has something for children (and people) of all ages. And is one of the best animal nature parks in Japan.

💵 - Price:
* Adult - (520 yen).
* Junior high school student - (210 yen).
* Children - (Free).

🕒 - Hours:
[9:30 - 17:00] | (Last entry 16:00).

What's not to love!

Been here almost a dozen times, and it never gets old. The zoo sits atop a massive land area, so there's lot to explore!

You can take the zoo 'train' (a fun shuttle service) to different areas of the zoo if you're not up for a walk, but I definitely recommend going around on foot as it adds to the experience.

There's so much more to say, but for now, just visit (with our without kids) and see for yourself.

Lots of opportunity to interact with animals. Inexpensive tickets. Preschool kids were free to enter. Several playgrounds, food, cafes and easy access to restrooms. Kids loved the castle.

this is by far the best zoo to take children to in Japan that I visited so far. It has lots of Hands-On exhibits, and many enclosures that you can walk around inside of with the animals. Of course, these are only with safe animals, like kangaroos and wallabies.it's large enough for all animals to seem comfortable with the amount of space they have, and there are plenty of different play and rest areas for both older and little ones. There's a park in the center of the zoo where kids can play on a slide, and it ropes course we're larger kids and adults can test their strength and endurance on a good weather day. Parking is cheap, around 600 Yen a day. It is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I drove about an hour to get there, and we'll be doing the same again many times in the future. If you get a yearly pass, the price works out to the cost of the visits, so if you plan to go more than 3 times it's worth getting.

I usually get tired going to big parks, but this was something different. It was like going on a hike in the mountains, and you can see animals along the way.

It was so much fun, and my wife is a sucker for cute rodents, and there were plenty. I have never seen her so happy. I usually don't like this kind of thing, but seeing my wife react the way she did made me feel so giddy. My favorite was seeing the hawk and the giraffe. There were koalas, and quoka's , but we missed the quoka's, they close that attraction at 1pm. Honestly the kangaroos surprised me the most, they weren't affected by our presence at all!

Anyway it's worth it for 520 yen for adults. There are numerous food trucks around the park, and the animals are so gentle. This should be part of your itinerary. You'll love it!

Go. Go. Go.

This zoo was extra great, because many of the areas had a gate so you can go inside with the animals. Touching the animals are not allowed for safety, but being that close was very cool.

More like a huge park but one of the better Zoos in Japan enclosure wise. Very natural enclosures for the animals. Excellent Quokka exhibit, the only one outside of Australia.

Another great place to visit in Hatoyama / Takasaka area. You can spend entire day there.
Children can cuddle rabbits and guinea pigs.
Also feed penguins, ride horses, milk a cow and etc.
Dinosaurs (made of concrete) are also there thou :)
You can also enter areas with goats, pigs or kangaroos, penguins there will be no metal bars between you and animals.
Consider bringing a tent and a picnic set also.
On set days there is a “night zoo” days, visitors are welcome until late hours, to observe animals’ night life.

Excellent children's zoo with great petting corner. Very hilly and spread out, comfortable shoes advised. Some English maps available. Yearly pass worth it if you plan to visit 3 times or more. Free in for children under 6.

This zoo is very good for kids. It was even better to stay near my house. The surrounding area was very beautiful. All in all, I like it very much.🥰🥰
