It's quite a romantic place to visit, two rocks married to each other, destined to oversee such a beautiful coastline together for eternity.

Come here during sunset, if you're lucky you'll get an epic photo. We caught clouds, but it was still very neat to see the famed rocks for ourselves.

This place is calm, and peaceful. I went there by bus from Ise Jingu. A showering rain on that day. A bunch of people although it was raining. Great view, fresh sea breeze and clean area.🥰
Thank you to someone too.😍

After living in Japan for five years I finally made the trip over to see Meoto Iwa.

Surprisingly it wasn’t crowded at all! There were small groups of people walking around but no line to take photos. If you’re going here by car try to use the free parking to the left of the rocks and nearby shrine. The other parking we saw was ¥800-¥1000. It was a very relaxing experience until…this European dude and his girlfriend showed up.

I can’t believe this has to be said, but please don’t climb over the fence and then proceed to climb onto the rock and “meditate” on it for twenty minutes while your girlfriend takes pictures of you. It’s a sacred site for Japanese people and you are supposed to enjoy it from afar. Many Japanese people wanting to take pictures either had to wait or just have a random dude in their photos. I know more foreigners are visiting Japan lately. Please respect the rules. You don’t need a sign to tell you this isn’t ok. Anyone with common sense knows you shouldn’t do this.
This is the kind of thing that makes sacred sites like this one shut off from visitors. Please don’t ruin everyone else’s experience. Most Japanese people aren’t super confrontational, but the twenty or so people who walked by when this was going on were verbally commenting on how inappropriate it was.

Incidents like this can really ruin the way locals see foreigners. For us who live here, and for those who are traveling respectfully, don’t do stuff like this. Thanks.

Still giving five stars because it’s not the rocks fault a random dude climbed on top of it. 😅

Smaller than expected but still a beautiful Torii. Early morning and evening before sunset recommended.

We took the bus from Toba bus Station, there is a even a designated tourist advisory there. The staff advised us on bus routes and timing and it was an easy trip there. You would spend 30min-1hour there (if youre not praying) and are just there as tourists. We went at high tide and got splashed lots! It was an easy walk from the bus stop, you will wall through the mall that sells many souvenirs and has toilets and lockers. (its a very short trip so won't recommend to use lockers unless you really have a lot of stuff)

Very charming place overlooking Ise Bay. Meotoiwa looks beautiful at sunset. Well connected by bus from Toba. There’s also a sea paradise with live shows and a shopping plaza nearby in case you’re interested.

Picturesque shrine devoted to the first man and woman in Japan. Several additional shrines denoted with frogs are opportunities for offerings for safe homecoming or return (‘frog’ and ‘to return’ both translate into Japanese as かえる, kaeru).

Little difficult to access, though two options are a train to the nearest train station and a 15-20 minute walk or a bus from the region’s other main attraction, the Ise Grand Shrine (takes around 30 mins, 700¥).

The wind was crazy when we came, but it was definitely the highlight of our trip! Very peaceful and relaxing, not many people were there too so you can take your time capturing the pretty scenery ;)

If you come by car, there are free parking space inside just right by the beach area (don't get fooled by the paid parking space right before the entrance 🤫 *unless the free parking space are full). Anyway it's a wonderful place with great ocean view too🌞

The place feels a few decades old but still a great visit to see the Meoto(Partner) rocks.
Get to know the history behind the rock and the shrine makes the trip worth enough, but visitors can also enjoy a bit of eating/shopping at the nearby mall.

Unique shrine which looks quite modern and dedicated to frogs! A short visit but worthwhile one to see the small Torii gate on top on the rock.

The proof that even frogs can do great things and make something sustainable.

Usually people come here after visiting ise Jingu, the grand shrine. It’s basically two giant stone connected with a heavy rope. It represents the relationship between a husband and a wife. The bigger rock is said to be the husband and the other one is wife. The scenery around the place is amazing. Take a stroll along the street near the ocean. You’ll feel the salty wind from the ocean.

There’s a good facility for parking vehicles in front of the market.

Beautiful walk along the coastal lines to the Wedded Rocks. We went there on a Wednesday and it was quiet on a perfect warm and sunny day. Take some photos and pray at the temple with your loved ones.

Nice and historical place, with some temples. The mall also provided souvenirs shop and food for taking rest if feeling cold outside

Less busy and quiet place you can include in your morning walk. They replace ropes three times a year; May 5th, September 5th, and middle of December and you can witness the ceremony.
