From my understanding this is how it works:

1,400yen to see 2 classic Japanese films (no subtitles). These are original 35mm prints (colour and/or b&w), and the reels are manually changed by the projectionist. Clickity clack of the film reels which is fun.

1,400yen to see 3 pinku films that are played on a loop, shown digitally. No 35mm prints were shown for even the older films.

Mostly visited by older Japanese men that can be noisy but that's just the atmosphere.

One thing to note: I'm only 5'10 but if you want to sit down to use the toilet your legs are going to be pressed against the door.

My wife and I love coming here to see the old yakuza and samurai flicks. The audio quality is really rough, though, so even if you understand Japanese usually, you probably won't be able to know exactly what's being said. Regardless, we've been here several times, and the classic experience is worth the minor discomforts. It's like being transported back in time, noticing the flicker of the real film rushing over the reels, hearing the projectionist changing out the rolls, and listening to the faint tack-tack-tack of the projector in the background.

We haven't had the nerve to see any of the pink films on offer here yet, but they do have a fairly interesting selection of those sorts of films that are switched our regularly, if you're into the history of that part of Japanese cinema.

A little guide to pink theaters in Japan (they're all fairly similar), if you decide to go yourself: Know that the theater will likely be a cruising spot, so there will probably be "adult activity" around you. However, people are (in our experience) always respectful and a "no" will suffice if you are approached. You can say the Japanese word "dah-may" if you want to be very direct and clear that you'd like to be left alone to watch the film.

ここでソフト化されてない東映映画の名作にたくさん巡り合いました。最近でこそソフト化されましたが、初めて『特出しヒモ天国』『十兵衛暗殺剣』などを観た時の感激は、今も蘇ってきます。『かも』などはまだ未ソフト化です。そういう貴重な上映が惜しげもなく毎日行われています。
知らない人からしたら、古臭い、マナーとか知らないおじさんがいっぱいいる（別に危害を加えてくるとかはなく、単に昔の映画館みたいな自由さ）映画館だと思いますが、『真の映画の聖地』の一つだと思います。夜中はイビキが凄いのでおすすめしませんが、昼なら映画ファンの女性一人客もたまに会います。劇場も意識を変えてきてて、トイレもきれいになり、シートも匂わなくなりました。
一度行かれることをおすすめします。自分は、映画仲間男女数人で年に数回、鑑賞会をしています。

往年の東映映画をフィルムで上映している。観客も労働者層のお年寄りが多く、かつての東映系列館の雰囲気を令和の世に感じられる。尚、設備は老朽化しており、環境への耐性は必要。

古き良き東映映画が楽しめます。1400円で二本立て見放題です。たまには工藤栄一監督作品も観たいです！

フィルムで上映されるので、好きな方にはたまらない映画館です。
