Temple Hotel Daitai-ji

Peace of mind. Ancient Buddhist temple well preserved, continuing the pure tradition of mindfulness. Therefore sacred. As a guest I was welcomed in this way. Thank you.

We went to Japan for 2 months with my partner, staying in approximately 20 accommodations, and this was definitely one of the best. The location is beautiful, in a natural and traditional Japanese setting. The rooms are very comfortable. The temple and gardens are beautiful. An excellent place for people who want to be in touch with Japanese culture and traditions. From this place, we went to Nachi Waterfall and its surroundings without any problems. We traveled from Osaka by train and always moved around by public transportation without any issues. Tomy is a great person; we did meditation with him, and he explained and showed us many aspects of life in Zen Buddhist temples. He even lent us some bikes to get to the village a bit faster. A great experience; we would return without hesitation

An ancient temple full of history from the warring states period and unique treasures inside, staffed with the friendlies of people and headed by the most positive of people - highly recommended stay on the Kumano Kodo experience. Try the Buddhist breakfast and the vegan sushi for pilgrims.

The rooms are very spacious, the kitchen is well equipped and the location is beautiful.

A spiritual stay and the perfect end to the Kumado Kodo trail. Incredible grounds and wonderful lodgings. Self catering in the beautiful kitchen (easy food shopping options in Kii Katsura). The temple is easily accessible by bus and taxi. The zazen meditation session and porridge breakfast made this a special and memorable experience.

This was a superb, but all too brief, experience. The rooms exceed first rate, the priest ready to answer all questions, the staff thoroughly professional and—even better—kind. The rate charged is far lower than one would expect for this sort of experience and this sort of first rate facility. You will not be disappointed, whatever difficulties you might encounter in getting there.

I stayed here for one night and did Zen meditation in the morning. The master priest speaks English fluently and has a lot of knowledge to share about meditation, Buddhist temples and much more. I would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Japan and also to people who live in Japan already but want to try Zen meditation.

1,200 year old temple offers affordable temple stay experience. Temple worships Medicine Buddha (药师瑠璃光如来). A truly off-the-beaten track experience. If you are flying in to Osaka, highly recommend this temple stay at Wakayama.

The best sauna I have ever experienced.

We loved this place. So beautiful and peaceful 🙏🏻 Took a part of some of the rituals for the monk and even the kids enjoyed the experience. Accommodations was big and clean. Close to Nachi falls and the Kumano kodo trails.

I stayed here with my mom and had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the zen meditation and breakfast

Magical stay

関東ではレアな臨済宗の禅寺。

こどもたちは【お寺に泊まる】と聞いて消極的でしたが、旅の１番の思い出は【お寺に泊まったこと】でした。

大泰寺さんの水回り、トイレ等はリフォームされており、各部屋にエアコンもあり、女性や小学生もストレスなし。大人は座禅や朝粥、写経などお寺で癒されるものよし。子どもは宿泊部屋から３分でアクセスできる川で遊んでもよし。川辺に野外サウナがあり、次回は体験したい。。。

絵に描いたような田舎の夏休みが体験できました。
住職さんは40代でお話も上手。
子どもは【お墓あった？】と聞いてきましたが、見えない奥手にございました。宿泊している分には、目に入りませんので、怖くもない。

車で10分ほどでくじらの博物館、シーカヤックなど海レジャーも体験できて良かった。　砂利浜、川も砂利ですのでウォーターシューズは必須です。川も２日目は水位が増えていましたので、子どもはライフジャケット持参が良いと感じます。

06:00からのお勤めには参加された方が良い(15分程度)
住職さんはお一人のみ、大変お忙しい方なので通常宿業務はしない出来ない
フロント業務の方はチェックイン業務が終わると帰宅のシステム
故に解らない事があればチェックイン時に質問すると良い(夜は無人)
お風呂も宿泊者は自由、大柄な方でも小さく感じない大きさ♪
宿泊者は大きな自炊場を利用可能
調理場には電子レンジや冷蔵庫や食事に使えるテーブルもあり
お米と炊飯器もあり1合￥200で利用しても大丈夫
茶葉は自由に使ってもOK
調味料も豊富だが常識ある行動を
寒い日は普通に水が凍ているのでエアコンの温度管理が重要
鐘撞きも一人一回可能
オプションでサウナや朝粥朝食などの体験も可能
充実した一夜になった、心から感謝

とても落ち着いたお寺で、友人共々気に入りました。
朝粥体験は、お寺の食事の向き合い方を知ることができ、食べ物のありがたみがわかる時間でした。

座禅体験もしました。座禅の方は瞑想みたいなものかな？と思っていたら、また違う感覚の体験でした。
座禅の事についてのお話もあり、ためになりました。

ちょうど、行った日は平日で、私たち一組だったので、お部屋をゆったりと使えて贅沢な時間を過ごすことができました。

Nous sommes restés 3 nuits dans ce "temple hotel" et avons adoré. Ce n'est pas l'hébergement le plus confortable qui soit (on dort sur des futons) mais il y a tout ce qu'il faut comme équipement pour passer un bon séjour. L'endroit est très beau, très calme, plein de petits détails de décoration qui lui donnent beaucoup de charme, avec en particulier un jardin intérieur superbe, l'accès aux différentes parties qui composent le temple. Lors d'une matinée très pluvieuse j'ai adoré me promener dans le temple et observer la pluie tomber dans le jardin ! Le moine qui s'occupe du temple est très accueillant, parle bien anglais et peut vous faire visiter le temple, avec des explications très intéressantes sur l'histoire du temple, le bouddhisme, le shintoïsme. N'hésitez pas non plus à monter la colline au-dessus du cimetière avec une belle vue sur les rizières environnantes. Bref, je recommande très fortement !

とても由緒あるお寺に家族7人で宿泊させて頂きました。大きな畳部屋が5つもあり、禅寺だけにお掃除も行き届いていてとても快適でした。
翌朝6時に、本堂と旧本堂の2箇所で朝のお勤めに参加し、ご住職から色々貴重なお話をお聴きし海外に住んでいる娘達もとても感動していました。その後、禅堂で坐禅も経験し、家族全員とても有意義な時間を過ごすことが出来ました。本当にありがとうございました。
