BIFF is a fairly big area. It starts by the road side and then it runs in deep into a sort of cross junction. So what’s at BIFF? I guess when the film festival isn’t here, then on a day to day basis, you will find lots of pop up stalls sell delicious food. Several of these hawkered stalls are rated on YouTube and it’s pretty interesting to see them live cooking it 😆

There is also a huge cat cafe here that you can get to spend unlimited time with the cats. Lots of places to have food, drinks, cosmetic shopping.

Head north from the entrance, you will walk into Gukje Market. Love the vibe of this market in the morning however, they pretty much wind down and close by 3pm. Go early to you wanna catch a good bargain.

To the East, you will find the famous Busan Tower, park and across the road from there, Lotte Mall.

I will start the day by entering BIFF via the main road / entrance. Head north to visit the market, then walk back out (when the stalls starts closing) towards BIFF again and turn east to the Busan tower to capture a nice sunset view of the tower and park.

Then end with dinner at the port side - Jagalchi Market (check out my other post for details)

The place for lovers of good street food. A wide variety of food stalls at a good price. I liked the beef meat pancake and the Hotteok, which is a fried dough ball filled with sugar, cinnamon, peanuts and sesame seeds, is simply delicious. The place is busy and there is no access to cars and it is best to get there using public transport or a taxi. If you use your own car to get there, there is a parking lot at the beginning of the street.

Love the vibe in the evening. Many street vendors selling socks, souvenirs and food. There are many food stalls: fishcake skewers, chicken skewers, green onion pancakes, waffles, etc. The streetfood ends around 8:30PM (in October).

Location for local Korean street food, you can find a lot of booth selling all kind of street food, also there are some "traditional resto" selling local food

The hotteok here to me is the best among other places, not too sweet and savory flour

Busan’s modern movie district was originally little more than a pair of cinemas that were built following Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule over half a century ago. However, major renovations took place ahead of the first Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and the newly transformed district was named BIFF Square on August 14, 1996. Having been remade into a cultural tourist attraction promoting the advancement of Korea’s film industry, BIFF Square has contributed to Busan’s newfound status as an international cultural tourist city. The 428 meter-long street stretching from the Buyeong Theater in Nampo-dong to the overpass in Chungmu-dong was divided into “Star Street” and “Festival Street,” and on the eve of the festival each year the “BIFF Square Ground Opening” is held on the street. During the ceremony, events such as the hand printing of famous movie celebrities and Nunggot Jeomdeung (snow-flower lighting) take place. A district such as BIFF Square, crowded with first-run theaters in a city is rare not only in Asia but Europe as well, and for this reason it holds great potential. In recent years, the square has grown into a more complex area, featuring not only movie theaters but also shops and leisure facilities, attracting growing numbers of young visitors and tourists.

Plenty of delicious Korean street food. Highly recommend the Mandu stop in my first picture. No entrance fee required. Cars drive down the street where humans cross so do watch out for it.

I was there during the Christmas festive period.

One of the highlights of my Busan Trip was BIFF Square. It is famous for its street food stalls and it's the perfect place to soak up the festive atmosphere.

I love the piping hot honey seed hotteok (sweet pancakes filled with brown sugar and nuts) with its crispy exterior and the warm gooey center.

BIFF Square is more than just the street food. The meandering side streets around the square are home to troves of restaurants and shops.

Among it is the pig trotters 🐖

A good place to find food and walk around. Most of the sellers can understand basic English. Best to bring cash if you want to go this place. It comes alive at night, less in the morning
