Athyantha Resort

Amazing service by the whole team from start to finish, specially by Kiran and the chef! We stayed full board and were not disappointed at all with the food and room. As we are vegetarian the meals were perfect. Plenty of variety and the portions were great as well. The rooms were clean and spacious. This was our third time here and we will definitely be back. Keep up the great work and all the best!

If possible please include an ironing board or ironing station. Just a small suggestion

About 10km away from the sacred city but it's easy access and only takes about 10-15 minutes. Service and staff were friendly, rooms were clean and breakfast was delicious. Room facing a paddy field which is a great view for a nice cup of coffee. They don't allow parties in the hotel hence it's a very calm place.

One of the best places I have ever stayed. The environment is serene, the view from the porch is magnificent. I cannot put in words the tranquility of the place. The staff is very friendly. The booking process is very professional.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The toilets are top tier. But the view you get from the room is the worth a million.

The price is well worth it. If ever i visit the region this will definitely be the place to stay.

Update

Went 6 months later and the standards are still the same. This is the only place in Sri Lanka that doesn't allow alcohol and doesn't have meat and fish on the menu. It is also the only place in sri lanka that runs its business in accordance with Buddhist values and not run by greed. It feels safer than home and I will absolutely return to this sanctum many more times.

The place is very serene and only 8 km from Sri Maha Bodhi. The rooms are very clean, the staff is very friendly and super supportive. They helped us to prepare Kiri ahaara. I can highly recommend to anyone looking for a good place to stay in Anuradhapura.

Very clam and quite place. Around 8km away from Anuradhapura ancient city. When we visited , kitchen is not functioning . How ever during reservation , hotel did not inform that and they said that meals could be ordered from their restaurant . So pls get confirmation from hotel, if you intend to have meals from the hotel .

One of the best places I have ever visited. The place is very calm and just 10min drive from Sri Maha Bodhiya.( Mihinthale Rd). The rooms are very clean,modern and spacious. But that's not all. Meals are tasty. They prepared a simple baby meal for my kid without hesitation.The staff is very friendly and super supportive. Mr.Suraweera ( Head Chef ) assistance with Kiri Ahaara preparing is highly appreciated. I can recommend Athyantha to anyone who is visiting Anuradhapura and looking for a good place to stay.

A perfect location for a kinda peaceful stay situated just within 10km radius of the Sacred city in Anuradhapura. It is located just in walking distance from the Anuradhapura - Jaffna road just by a huge paddy field that gives some stunning views when the harvesting season is nearby. Actually there are about 5-6 rooms all named in ancient sinhalese names which are very spacious and well maintained. The atmosphere in and out is actually perfect for a relaxing stay at the hotel. There is hot water available in the rooms for your convenience. You are able to order food from the hotel but there are dietary restrictions (only egg meals are available for non vegans) since it is situated in the sacred city.
If you need to prepare Kiripidu pooja the staff will do it once you give rice and freshmilk on the previous night. You are also able to prepare on your own as there is a seperate area for the guests to prepare it themselves. The staff, the owner is very friendly and they are available any time at your request.
Definitely highly recommended place if you visit Anuradapura or Mihintale ♥

It is beautiful and calm place little bit away from busy town.. only 5 rooms available.. Foods are delicious and they serve only vegetarian foods. Caretaker also very kind and attentive.. You can book via online or over the phone.. reasonable rates when compairing with othe facilities in the area.. Recommend for anyone.

It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, next to paddy fields, a water tank and a small temple. Finding the road to the hotel is a bit hard as there are no signs from the main road so rely on GPS, the lane is obscure from main road. The resort is in the middle of the way from Anuradhapura religious city and Mihintale. The rooms are okay, not absolute luxury but cosy and comfortable. Each room boasts of a private bathroom, TV, mini fridge, AC, fan, electric kettle, tea/coffee/creamer/sugar, tea cups, water glasses and water bottles. The bathroom is provided with one dental kit, one shaving kit, one shower cap, one mini soap bar. The hotel has only about five rooms so offers privacy and much valued aloneness and quiet for introverts. The food was tasty and vegetarian and Sri Lankan but they do offer eggs. The breakfast and dinner is buffet and lunch should be ordered. The chef is indeed a wonderful cook. We enjoyed our stay at Anuradhapura. We were a group of 3 and booked a triple room.

Tips: if you scared of small harmless insects and animals like grasshoppers, frogs etc you should find a place in the city. This resort is located next to a paddy field and you have to expect them. There were no mosquitos and flies, it's a clean place. There are plenty of birds like peacocks who come really close to the hotel rooms. So, good place to relax and bird watch. Each room has a private outdoor terrace/patio with a small coffee table and two chairs, facing the paddy field.

Since we came in the morning train the hotel made arrangements for us to check in early and check out late.that was a big advantage for us.
