Thangappuwa-Alugallena Nature Trail

This is the trail from Thangappuwa to the Alugallena, which goes through the Knuckles Forest Reserve. You have to purchase an entrance ticket from the Department of Forest to enter the Knuckles Forest Reserve. It will take around 2.5 - 3 hours to reach Alugallena from Thangappuwa. There are ample water sources along the trail. You will find a lot of leeches within the trail, hence it is advisable to take a suitable leech repellent.

If you have plans to visit this place, go early in the morning. A lot of leeches are there. We used salt water and tobacco leaf dissolved water to prevent leach attack.
