Great car rental company, we are very happy with our choice!!!
After seeing reviews of various rental companies at Colombo airport and the high car rental prices, we decided on Malkey, and we did not regret.
Driver was waiting for us at the airport, than he took us to an office located 5 minutes from the airport, after which we received a brand new car with 400 km on it for equivalent of £350 for 2 weeks. After returning the car we were refunded the full deposit, only we had to pay for extra kilometres because we exceeded the limit specified in the contract, but it was the fault of beautiful Sri Lanka, not company itself :)

Had a fantastic ten day tour around the island!

Our wonderful driver Ajith Premaratne picked us up from Colombo and we travelled in real style in the Coaster minibus, taking in Galle, Dickwella, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Sigiriya and back to Colombo.

Ajith is an excellent and safe driver and also an excellent guide, showing us things that we would not have spotted otherwise from exotic animals and birds to traditional blacksmiths working by the side of the road. We travelled with our two young children and our parents and Ajith was great with them all.

Definitely recommend Malkey and Ajith if you are planning to spend some time exploring the island, you can see a lot in a short amount of time and do it in comfort! Communication and booking is super easy also

Everything went smoothly from booking to collecting to returning the car. We also arranged for a driver to pick up the car from us at Kandy railway station and return it to us at Ella station while we took the scenic train ride from Kandy to Ella. The whole arrangement was seamless and smooth. The car rental company is reliable and made the entire process stress-free. Highly recommended!

Great company to book a car with driver in Sri Lanka. Palitha sir, our guide cum driver, was very friendly and caring. We really enjoyed his companionship in Sri Lanka , he took care of every small need of ours - very nice person. Car condition was also very good. Travelling in a small group from Australia, we had a great experience through Sigiriya-Ella- Mirissa with this company over the course of a week. Ask if possible to have uncle Ajith Premaratne as your private driver if he is available. Always very punctual and happily guided us around Lanka with his knowledge of local restaurants and spots. We were able to try some amazing local and very affordable food that we ourselves would not have thought to approach, if he hadn’t recommended! He went out of his way to make sure we were always looked after ie. even crossing roads and stopping for breaks for snacks and toilets as required. Our belongings were always secure in his presence. Would highly recommend!

I have rented cars several times from Malkey Rent A Car, and their service has consistently been superb, and excellent. The vehicles are always in excellent condition and provide perfect comfort, they also offer a wide range of vehicles to choose from. I used their services last month. Their method of giving out information via Email is systematic and efficient, and they get a small fee as a reservation fee via bank transfer. Going to their office and then completing the formalities is easy.

I got good service, and although I returned the vehicle in a week (due to no fault of MalKey) they were happy to refund the excess payment to me.

I've known of the place for decades, and have used their services twice.

We rented 2 self drive Altos from here, after comparing most options available in Sri Lanka, as we got a good deal here. Both cars had clocked over 130000 kms, but were still in good condition. We opted for airport pick up and drop at their Seeduwa office. All procedures were handled via email, and responses were prompt and complete. On the day, the staff was already there with the cars before we landed. Handover was easy and quick. We had a great time driving all over the country, as the cars gave us no trouble at all. The roads were awesome (don't go by the picture, that is an internal tea plantation road) and road manners among Sri Lankans are too good. Our concerns proved to be unfounded, and we would encourage all to just go for it.
The manager explained to us the fuel situation and assisted us with the required QR codes. We did not face any problem getting fuel. Return process at end of trip was quick and no trouble too. I would love to deal with them if i visit Sri Lanka again. Very recommended.

However first time using their services in a big bus to tour Sri Lanka for almost 2 weeks. I chose Malkey since I had very close friends who were non Sri Lankan, hence needed a trust worthy company.

The bus was great, a new and well maintained 26 Seater.

However we have all praise for the driver they assigned for us. His name is Ajith Premarathne and he was not only a driver, he was an amazing tour guide. He was genuinely caring and always thought about our well being and safety. Went out of his way for us as a group and was super caring to all the kids. Moreover, he was very honest...an absolute gentleman!

Good place to rent your vehicle! Had no problems renting a van. Comparing to others - price was reasonable!

We were in Sri Lanka for 9 days. A party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). We rented a 26 seater bus from Mal-Key Rent-a-car.

We had a private tour guide Mr. Ajith Premaranthne who in true honesty was an amazing person and gentleman. His knowledge of Sri Lanka and the family friendly places to visit was impeccable. He was kind, courteous and accommodating. We covered 1,284kms on our trip.

I whole-heartedly recommend using both the rental company and Ajith Premaranthne. The entire process was easy, seamless and most of all Ajith was an absolute trooper.

We used Malkey Rent a Car in February during a family trip across Sri Lanka. Our friends gave us a recommendation to use them and suggested a specific driver. He was unavailable for us at that time, but instead we consider ourselves very fortunate to have Mr Ratnayaka as our driver. Throughout the trip he went above and beyond in helping my family. We travelled across the country which meant very long stretches of driving, but he never complained. He helped run small last-minute errands for our family, helped carry our bags, and helped my less-mobile grandparents get to and from hotels, restaurants and temples, especially at difficult places. He was very knowledgeable about places to eat between towns across the country. By the end of the trip, we felt like he became part of our family, and we still keep in touch.

We had uncle Ajith Premaratne and highly recommend the experience to everyone. It's the easiest and most efficient way to travel around Sri Lanka. He was incredibly helpful and was more than just our driver. He listened to us to ensure we got the experience we wanted from our trip, especially when it came to experiencing local food, and not just what tourists seem to flock to. He also saved us plenty of time, which allowed us to see more of the country with our limited time here. A highlight was making sure we got on to the 9 arches train at Ella, even after being told by others that it was all booked out.
