Kabaragala is an amazing place to visit! The views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is so peaceful. It's a great spot for hiking and enjoying nature. We parked at the road before the temple. The drive itself was scenic, and upon reaching the top, we were greeted with a breathtaking 360-degree view. Witnessing the glorious sunrise in the morning. It's an experience that leaves you in awe of nature's beauty. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and immerse themselves in natural beauty.

If you go up early in the morning, the surroundings are very beautiful with fog. Before going up, fill a water bottle from a lower house. There are no words to describe how beautiful it is here. There is good space for camping. We were told that it will take 45 minutes to go to the first peak and 3 hours to go to the second, so we didn't go.

Kabaragala Mountain: Where Earth Touches Sky

Kabaragala, nestled within the Dolosbage Mountain Range, beckons adventurers with its lofty peak at 1506 meters.

The valley below unfolds—a breathtaking canvas.Edge of the World: Along the ridge, tread carefully—the precipice awaits. Leeches may join your journey, so be vigilant.

Mist and Magic: Mornings shroud Kabaragala in mist. Clouds weave beneath the mountains, creating ethereal vistas. Lucky souls witness this enchantment.
Photographer’s Paradise: Kothmale Reservoir, Peacock Hills, and Sri Pada Mountain—all framed by your lens. Sunrise paints the landscape; clouds play hide-and-seek.
Camping Bliss: Nights atop Kabaragala are cool and breezy. Lights twinkle below. Woods embrace campers, and stories echo through the pines.

Remember, Kabaragala isn’t just a peak; it’s a symphony of earth and sky.

It is a mind-blowing mountain about 1500m high which can be reached in one day from Colombo and back. From Colombo you can come to Bulathkohupitiya via Avissawella and through that you can come to Dedugala Dolosbage town and reach here easily. It takes approximately an hour to 1 1/2 hours to climb to the top of the mountain. On rainy days there is a heavy population of leeches. It is a suitable mountain for novice climbers as well as mountaineers.

After coming to the top of the mountain and landing on the rocky plateau, Nawalapitiya and Kothmale areas can be well observed.

The view from the top of the mountain is very beautiful and the mountain covered with mist is a must-see mountain for a traveller.

So beautiful and calm place with scenic beauty. And such a peaceful place with a great view. Sometimes the peak covers with mist, while make it more beautiful than previous. We feels little scary when we look down from that rock, but such a beautiful and attractive place.

#Kabaragala is the highest peak in the Dolosbage Mountain Range in Sri Lanka. This is located on the border between the districts of Kagalle and Kandy. The height of the peak is 1506 m above sea level. The place is superb for hikers and campers.

#About 1- 1.5 Hour Hike.
#Amazing View on Top.
#Dangerous Cliffs. ⚠

#All Bikers, Motor cars , Jeeps , Vans Can Only use Dedugala - Dolosbage Road.
( Very Narrow Roads and over 100 Super Bends are Available ⚠❗)

#Buses and Others can reach From Nawalapitiya and then to Kabaragala. About 12km.

#Attached bus 🚌 bend videos, we came from dedugala - Dolosbage Road. Really very Hard to get 54 seater from that road ultimately we did it after lot of effort.

Cannot describe the beauty of this place in words. ❤ Very beautiful view and misty atmosphere. If it rains the peak and the path will be very slippery. So please be carefull. And be prepared for leech attacks. So many leeches 😐 I heard there are one or two paths more to reach the peak. We took the one began from the temple below. If you park your vehicle there you should inform the monks.

One of the easy climb and a peak with better scenaries around. Hiked at night and camped on a chilled atmosphere. Just this rock has got nice and different viewpoints.
Watch your back and safety first when you're approaching the edges. And, keep the nature as it is, clean and pleasant.

One of most enjoyed hiking trails... We used the route from the Nawalapitiya town. But you can reach there from the Gampola town also. Approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the peak. Route is very clear. But its good to carry much water because no source to refill on the peak. Peak view is amazing🥰 Bit windy & had some showers in the day when we visited. But if there isn’t rain, One of the best place to enjoy a camping night🏕 Even if you are beginner😌

AbsolutelyBeautiful place. Also well known for camping. When you camp there remember to take back your garbage. We collected more than 10kg of plastics and beer cans that left by the so called camping nature lovers. Don't ruin this beautiful environment.

A mountain top with a very beautiful view, but it is difficult to find water at the top.... so it is advisable to carry water. Within the Dolosbage mountain range, Kabaragala Mountain is a fantastic and easy climb. The summit, which offers a completely different experience, can be reached by traveling along the ridge from the first viewpoint.
It has an almost flat terrain covered with grass; which reminds the unique landscapes of Horton plains. Nawalapitiya town, Gampola & Ambuluwawa, Alagalla, Peacock hills, Bathalegala & Kotmale maha seya, Piduruthalagala range, the reservoir and the rest of Dolosbage mountain range are also visualized from the top. In the morning, you can see a beautiful sunrise.

Heighest peak in Dolosbage mountain range. If you travel through Bulathkohupitiya-Dolosbage road you easily entertain the view of many falls.(Rikili Falls, Nalangana Falls etc:) Not only that this is a perfect way for a road trip. But when you come back please use Gampola road because night time travelling is not recommended. There are two view points in Kabaragala peeak. You can climb to the first within one hour and from there it will take 45minutues to conquer the top. Amazing view at the top and you can clearly see Nawalapitiya town. Ambuluwawa, Mahawali Saya and so on. Pleae be prepared for leeche's attack. Last 500m of the road is broken and difficult to drive cars. Near the bunglow you can park your vehicle and can strat the journey.

Easy hike. Do take enough water as there is no water on top.

For people travelling from colombo and want to do a one day trip ; take the 5:55 badulla train, get down in nawalapitiya or gampola. Take the dolosbage bus, get diwn near kabaragala trail start(tell the conductor). The hike to the 1st view point will take around 1hr and the hike to the 2nd view point is about another 50mins. U can come back down to the road around 3.30 - 4.00 and there is a bus back to nawalapitiya around 4.15.
You can catch the 5.00 train back to colombo which comes to colombo at 10.00

Safe travels and please make sure to keep the environment clean 🙏🏼 😊

A fantastic place to visit if you are lover of hikes and great views. The route to this place is somewhat difficult to find as you have to reach through a small village. But the villagers are so friendly. They will give you directions without expecting any financial benefits. There is a clear foot path to the peak but it is somewhat slippery when you reach the peak. Be careful when you take photos at the edge of the rock. There were so many false roads on the map when I wanted to reach Nawalapitiya using the directions of the map. But it is ok if you reach the place via Dedugala.

Kabaragala is very popular hiking spot in Sri Lanka. It's very beautiful mountain. It's little bit difficult hike the mountain 🏔 But It's really worth. It's very suitable for camping also. If you go by bus, 🚍 you have to go by dolosbage bus from nwalapitiya town. 🏕
There are few shops rent the camping equipments near the road to the mountain. Prices also fair. So you can rent equipments from there without bringing all the way.
There are two peaks. First one is very popular for take photographs. 📸 But if you are going to camping I recommend to go to the second peak. However it's possible to camp in first peak. It take about one and half hour to go from first peak to second peak.
I recommend you to bring the water from down. There are not very much water sources on the top. However there is small fountain. But villagers said that they are only available in rainy season. Try to avoid going in rainy season because there's lightning ⚡ accidents.
And also there's few guding dogs.🐕 😍 They'll come with you up to the mountain and they'll stay with you until you come. So don't forget to bring something for them. 🍪
Be safe and enjoy. Please be kind enough to protect the environment. ⛰

Kabaragala Peak ❤ at an elevation of over 4900. Kabaragala, with a steep drop on one side is the highest peak in the Dolosbage range. Easily accessed off the Nawalapitiya - Dolosbage Road northeast of the peak via tea estates and pine trees, it's considered an easy hike 🏕 . However since the path isn't marked, going off trail and having to turn back would waste time. It's best to get a local guide to trek with from the nearest town. Don't carry heavy backpacks 🎒 and take enough water 💧 for each person as there is no access to water at the peak. In addition, try and avoid rainy days 🌧 . Stay Safe ⚠ Never look vertically up while standing at the edge of a cliff, movement of clouds can cause loss of balance ⚠ . It's considered to be among the top sights out of the 6 to visit in Dolosbage. Visiting all 6 sites may take you over a day. Even though they are in radius less than 20.km from the center, it requires a lengthy travel of about 120.km to cover all 6. It's best to stay over in one of the many places in the region ⛰ . Please don't litter and discard any trash (Including food or biodegradable items) 🙏🏻 If you're collecting trash, please use jute or gunny sacks instead of polythene trash bags ♻
