I got barbed by a stingray while on vacation in Bucerias. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever had. Dr. Rafael & nurse Lupina were awesome & treated me promptly with pain/numbing shots & hot water & within 30min the pain was gone. Dr. Rafael also skillfully extracted the venom from my foot by gentle massage. He prescribed pain meds & prophylactic antibiotics in case of infection. They were both very friendly, knowledgeable, experienced & professional. He also gave me a detailed & concise letter/bill to submit to my insurance in California for reimbursement of the very reasonable cost of the visit & prescriptions.

If there were 10 stars, I’d give it gladly!

My husband and I are longtime winter residents of Bucerias. We have been patients of Dr Rafael Ipina at Travel Medicine for years.

I wish I could clone Dr Ipina and bring him to California! He is everything you can want in a family doctor - highly competent, caring, communicative and professional. He has skillfully guided us through everything from bronchitis to a broken bone and most recently, to discovery of a cancerous tumor. We trust his judgment implicitly, and know that he always has our best interests at heart. He is well respected in the local medical community and has access to top notch specialists for whatever your medical needs might be.

I visited Dr. Rafael Lpina in February 2024. He was absolutely amazing. I was apprehensive to go to a medical clinic while I was in Mexico (I'm from Canada) but Dr. Lpina put me at ease immediately. He did a thorough examination of my problem and asked a lot of questions. He answered every question I had to make sure I understood everything. I was on the road to recovery by the next day. Excellent, excellent excellent.

Great service from Dr. Ipiña, Dra. Larios and staff! I fell several weeks ago and had a large hematoma on my back that wouldn't go away. Dr. Ipiña had Dra. Neomi Larios come in to perform an ultrasound. She did a thorough ultrasound and was able to drain the hematoma the same day. I felt better instantly! Two days later I still feel great. I'm grateful for the professionalism, kindness and excellent care I received from Travel Medical Assistance. The cost for everything was very reasonable. ¡Muchas gracias!

Dr Ipina’s care during my recent medical crisis was second to none. Kind and caring, he ensured I got the immediate assessments & surgery needed, then through his well written reports & diligence, overturned our insurance company’s initial decline of coverage, saving us many thousands of dollars for surgery & a 2 night stay in the hospital. We are grateful to have found him, would return to him in a heartbeat should any other issues ever arise.

Dr Ipina is excellent. We have sought medical assistance from his office many many times over the years. He is efficient, knowledgeable and always explains thoroughly what is wrong, sometimes even pulling out his medical textbooks to show you pictures.

Great doctor, he really cares how you feel and he fixes the problem. He takes a medical history and reviews it with you every visit. I can tell you he is the best GP in the area for sure!

My 91 year old Mom had a severe cut and the Dr nit only treated her but redressed the wound personally every day for 1 week. She healed nicely. What a great Dr. And reasonable prices too.

I believe the good doctor saved my life. Of course to be fair, my husband is the one that actually took me to him. He diagnosed my problems through interview and exam. Treated me in the office (clean and well stocked) and sent me home with a healing treatment plan.
