Al Forno Pizzeria - Ristorante italiano

OMG. My wife and I ate Al Forno Pizzeria Restaurante Italiano tonight, and it was out of this world. Amazing. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer and I will tell you we have not had bruschetta this tasty since we were last in Italy and I believe it’s the best bruschetta I’ve ever had. It’s authentic and tastes marvelous. For the main dish, my wife had pasta arrabiata and I had the calzone parmigiana. Both were top notch. The chef comes out and greets you. He’s a really great guy. He is originally from Italy. You owe it to yourself to go to this place if you like Italian food or if you just want really good food while visiting Patzcuaro.

The food was very very good Italian. We had a couple of questions about the dishes and the chef/owner Alejandro came to our table to help us understand the dishes. The bruschetta, the homemade pasta, sauces were all very good. Washed down with excellent Italian wine. Great alternative to Mexican and affordable for two @ $60 usd.

I’ve been coming to Al Forno for the past 3 years. Luckily my parents live very close by and whenever I visit from Los Angeles I always make sure to eat here! There’s so many Italian Restaurants in Los Angeles that I consider this place my top 5 best places to eat. The owner and the servers are so professional and welcoming.

You should visit this lovely restaurant in the heart of Patzcuaro, two hard working Italians have made this a spectacular place, the food was amazing, and the service was unbelievable. The best pizza in the world.

This place is so great! The putenesca was delicious, the pizza was amazing. I was so excited when it came to the table I forgot to take a picture. The pizza dough is fermented for 20 hours and cooked in a wood fired oven. It isn't easy to find good pizza in MX, nevermind real pizza. The kiddos loved it, and the parents too. Thank you, we look forward to our next visit.

We had dinner here this past Saturday while spending the night in Patzcuaro while returning to San Miguel de Allende from the Zihuatenejo area. We chose it because of some glowing reviews as well as being walking distance from our centro hotel. Very happy that we did. We shared a spinach and ricotta ravioli with bolognese sauce, a pizza with leg ham, artichoke, green olive and mushroom and a green salad with goat cheese, apple and walnut. All dishes were excellent. Well prepared, presented, and in generous portions. House red wine by the glass was the best I’ve had in Mexico for a moderate price. Service was casual but professional by the owner as well as all staff members. Impressed that we finished all the dishes to the last bite, the owner brought us house made limoncello as an extra treat. If you are in Patzcuaro this is both a fun a delicious dining option.

This simple Italian restaurant is sensational. The pizza crust and table bread that they make is as good as any I had in Florence. The sauces and salads are fresh and delicious. The service is great. The dinning area is simple, clean and comfortable. The entrance is on Alhumada close to the plazas. It seems a little hard to find. One reason for this is they keep the door closed, I suppose to keep the noise and fumes out. I hope you can find it and you enjoy it as much as we do.

The absolute best sit down restaurant in all of Patzquaro! Quality is always amazing and everything is authentic. I have never had a bad experience here. Treat yourself!

Great homemade ravioli. You can choose your sauce. I had arrabbiata sauce which was wonderful with the spinach ravioli. We had tiramisu and conoli both were great! Cuppachino is also excellent! Even had Pellegrino water and lemonade.

Me and my friends went to dinner here and had a wonderful experience the atmosphere of the restaurant was very warm and inviting, service was incredible our waitress was very kind and attentive! We had their bruschetta to start off with and we had to fight over the last piece ☺ So yummy !! And I got their 4 formaggi pasta and it was amazing!! at the end of the meal a man who I believe to be the owner was kind enough to come to our table and make sure we were satisfied with everything he was very welcoming and kind and gave us some wonderful insight to the restaurant! I will be dining here again and I suggest you do too!

Real Italian food in Mexico!!!

Wow! Run by two Italian gentlemen who truly know great Italian food. We love Pizza and these guys deliver the best. The only pizza in Mexico I have had that is close was near the beach in southern Oaxaca. I would put Al Forno against any pizza in the country. Worth a trip to Patzcuaro just to eat here.
We had the Insalata Di Mele and Night to start. Well prepared, fresh ingredients, just right. Then the Pizza Capriccious. It takes a confident and skilled chef to be willing to let the Pizza cook just a little longer in a wood fired oven. You have to be on top of your game and know that moment when the pizza is really ready. So many miss that part and pull it early, not at Al Forno.
For dessert, a unique, and truly traditional Tiramisu followed by their house made Limoncello. Everything was wonderful!
Do yourself a favor, drive to Patzcuaro for this restaurant and their wonderful food!

My favorite restaurant in Patzcuaro

I grew up in Umbria, where Italian meat is sacred. These cold cuts are superb, the mortadella is to die for…Pasta properly cooked, bruschetta reeking of garlic on crisp delicious bread and fresh tomatoes. This is proper Italian food relying on superb ingredients and simplicity to make you happy. Oh and the best cannoli. Ever. I love Mexican food especially in Michoacán but if you want a change this place is extraordinary. A cut above.

Wonderful food, and unique flavor, the brick oven pizza is expertly crafted and cooked perfectly.
