Potrero Chico Parque

We visited here for two weeks to do rock climbing. There are so many routes and we will definitely be back to continue exploring this amazing park. The grades are a huge range allowing both softies and hard climbers to enjoy themselves and stay busy. The developers of the areas and routes have done a fantastic job.

If you are a climber... dont hesitate. Make the trip. The climbing is great. The scenery is on par with that of many top national parks elsewhere in the world. The food is fantastic. And the feeling (and view) after 12 pitches is just fantastic. A few nice hikes around too.

Absolutely beautiful location with a great variety of routes. I would consider this the Mecca of North American winter sport climbing. Lots of fun places to stay within walking distance and a generally great vibe shared between the climbers out there. Go for a weekend or a month and you will never run out of routes to slay.

What a great place with a seemingly endless # of routes to climb. I'm relatively new to climbing but my wife goes a lot. We hired a guide given my lack of experience and we climbed a 10 pitch route that wasn't too difficult for a beginner.

We will definitely be coming back to El Potrero once I have some more experience to spend much longer in this park exploring on our own.

The climbing here is world class. Beautiful sharp limestone and technical routes. Prime season is winter, but you'll have to deal with the crowds of climbers as well. Helmets are a must here, as rock falls are very common, especially with the high volume of traffic these walls get. I led my first 12a here, so these canyons have a special place in my heart. Note that routes are long, so a 70m rope and 16+ quickdraws are pretty much mandatory.

Accomodation is available close to the crag, with amenities and groceries within a 25 minute walk from most places.

World class rock climbing! So much potential and most existing routes are well bolted. Watch out for rock fall and choss under other climbers.

Very scenic area. Very enjoyable rock climbing with many options at all skill levels. Great area to stay at a very low cost. Friendly people.

Single and multi pitch climbing are world class. Mountain project and rakkup have awesome apps as guides. You can't be too careful if you're deciding to climb after wet weather ie please just don't.

As a climber, I definitely understand now why this place is considered a world-class destination. The opportunities are endless.

Great place to climb, hike, walk, or just look around. Registration is mandatory in the offices of Potrero Chico Rescue Team.

Get to drive right up to the mountain and see the true wonderful nature of this planet and also cabins are for rent on the mountain
