We had such an amazing time here. Family of four (11yo, 5yo) and it was just perfect.

Food was amazing (chef Awie makes everyone three meals a day - best pancakes, excellent local style lunch and dinner). All the staff were super friendly and chill. The vibe was just right - doesn’t matter if you’re a diver or not (we weren’t but we did kayak and snorkel).

Beaches are out of this world and the rooms, although basic, were all you’d ever need.

Highly recommend!

The dive centre is very secluded. They will help to arrange pickup from KK to Kota Belud.

From Kota Belud area, they will send a boat to pick you up. Watch the tide as the beach can be shallow and boat can be grounded.

Overall staying is nice, room is comfy and clean. Please remember to bring power bank and mosquitoes repellent too.

The dive area is undisturbed. Can see good marine life but we come abit late in 2023 so we miss the shark etc.

Will come again in 2024 in Q2.

Big Fin is absolutely everything that your looking for in a rustic beach resort. Spectacular scenery, excellent diving, cozy accommodation & super tasty food! It’s only a sort boat ride from the mainland- but you feel like you’re escaping to a hidden little treasure! The resort is a great place to relax read a book & nap in a hammock or if you’re sporty they provide sea kayaks and SUPs to explore the stunning coastline and surrounding islands with! I’m not a diver, but the snorkel trip was excellent & the other guests on the boat said the diving was the best they’ve done on the west coast! AND when we were there WHALE SHARKS were in the bay & someone in our group saw them 😍😍! The owners are the perfect mix of helpful, friendly and relaxed. I honestly can’t wait to go back!

Amazing diving at a variety of sites. Ella and Apex are superb hosts. They have chosen a great spot to set up their dive Centre. Bigfin are a highly Professional company, with excellent gear and boat with great choices of places to dive with not another dive boat in sight. Will be back in June to dive again.

Lovely dive club with a really special family feel about it. Staff are all superb from the chef, to the helpers to the clearly passionate and super helpful and passionate dive crew, a fabulous place to spend a few days or a week. We would love to come back again. Rooms are great with a cracking view of the sea and Mount Kinabalu, delicious food and chilled vibe. Perfect!

I had 3 wonderful nights here early August with my 11 Yr old son and it exceeded my high expectations. (Trip put off since 2020 pandemic) We kayaked and snorkelled (amazing experiences) all staff were so chill and kind, the food was great. It truly is a”happy place” which we’ll revisit in our minds for years to come. At the time we visited, there were several other families- some doing PADI. Hopefully we’ll return to do that too.

Beautiful location, excellent food. We did a discovery dive and then stayed on for another 5 days to Kayak, snorkel, took a trip to Mantanani island and just relaxed. A great place to relax

Went to get certified for the Padi open water course. Our diving instructor Joe was an amazing teacher. He was very patient and friendly throughout the course. The dive sites were beautiful, especially the Fish Bowl dive area.

The accommodations were really clean and nice. All the staff members were super friendly and the meals were really good, homecooked food.

Note, it does get quite humid, so bring a fan and some portable chargers since electricity is available only from 5pm-11pm.

Overall, I really enjoyed the stay and I look forward to coming back again for future dives.

We did our refresher after one year pause. The staff is very good - we dove with Tony and Aman (I am so sorry, I forgot the name :( .) The equipment is very well maintained.

If you book the accommodation directly at their website, you get a discount for diving which is a really generous one!

We stayed here as a family of 4. It was a brilliant relaxed getaway where you can feel like you really switch off. The kayak to the rock island opposite is a great adventure for kids and adults and the snorkelling was exciting for the kiddies.
We'd definitely come back! :)

One of the best stays we had in Borneo. Gorgeous location on a quiet beach. Between the great food, staff, and diving it’s hard to a pick a highlight. I recommend this place to everyone and would love to return one day.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Bigfin divers and was absolutely blown away by their accomodation. The rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable. I loved being able to wake up to the sounds of the ocean and enjoy my morning coffee on the private balcony overlooking the stunning views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed with Cindy, our diving instructor, who had a wealth of knowledge about marine life and made the whole experience unforgettable.

I came to Bigfin Dive Resort to complete my Padi Open Water Course. My instructor, Joe, was very experienced and patient in conducting the course. The Bigfin area was apparently not the easiest place to complete the open water course as all the confined dives were conducted out at sea. But Joe was able to conduct the course smoothly and efficiently and ensure that we were all equipped with important skills for diving. His calmness was also very helpful especially for first-time divers.

The resort itself was kept very clean and tidy, which I was very impressed by considering it was basically out at the tip of the jungle. Do expect alot of nature (plants and insects). Due to the heatwave sweeping through SEA it was particularly warm when we were there, would advise packing some portable fans or cooling wipes to help with the heat. The food was simple but tasty, but bring snacks as only 3 meals are provided at fixed timings everyday.

Do research beforehand too on the season as there might be rain or jellyfish at the shore. Another thing to note would be that you do need to walk into the sea at shore to get onto the boat for the boat transfers, so keep that in mind and dress appropriately (slippers, shorts) for that!

Overall I highly recommend Bigfin Divers if you are thinking of completing PADI courses, or simply for fun dives!

The place was a hidden gem. Great staff and clean rooms. Waking up on a hill that over looks a bay...... priceless.

We went there primarily to dive, but visibility was pretty average with all the rain from the weeks prior. But this resort is so much than just a place to dive.

We spent a couple of fantastic days at BigFin late February this year. i highly recommended tis resort for the quality and friendliness of the staff. Booking was super fast and efficient thanks to the owner spouse. The dives were well organized. Diving equipment and boats are top notch and recent. The meals were simple but very good. Chef is nice, attentive to individual requests and does great chilli sauces, different every day.
Rooms are confortable and very clean. Hammocks on each room deck are fun and the view on Mount Kinabalu from each room is beautiful.
Dive sites are interesting and with very good diversity. Visibility was not great due to the very bad monsoon and storms this week. I was especially impressed by the professionalism of the diver masters.
Great job from BigFin team. . We will go back.
Cheers,
Ed and his kids newly PADI certified thx to BigFin dive resort

A paradise for divers looking for a beach resort without a 5 star price tag. Simple clean and comfortable bungalows, great local food cooked by chef Awie and good selection of dive sites for both novice and experienced divers. No air-conditioning but surprisingly didn't feel hot at all in the rooms at night. Balcony hammocks with ocean views were perfect for reading a book after diving too.

Just spent two nights at this lovely little resort called Big Fin Divers Resort and had a great time. Most of the folks who stay there go for the diving however we just wanted a peaceful stay in a pretty setting. Our room was tastefully yet minimally decorated, with a mosquito net that kept the few pesky mosquitoes away from us. The bathrooms were attached...my favorite part...and hanging out on the hammocks on the front porch of our room we could quietly enjoy a view of Mt. Kinabalu or read a book. I did both. Also saw a beautiful sunset and had a little swim. Mostly pleasant...there was some seaweed that tickled my feet. Boo! We were provided three meals a day and the food was simple and delicious....if you would like to get away from the bustle of KK and enjoy beauty and tranquility, consider this little resort.

Cozy and tranquil dive resort with good vibes, chill music and yummy food (go for banana pancakes!). Super friendly staff and professional management who make you feel part of their family. Diving is great for macro and beautiful corals. And if you are a bird fan, you will hear and spot plenty of species there. Will definitely continue to visit regularly!
