Idanre Hills

Idanre in one word description for me is simply, MAGNIFICENT. Here you'll have to get a ticket for 1000 naira, then a guide fee from 5000 naira and above..

Challenging, energy-demanding. Not to be toured by asthmatic patients. However, an exhilarating experience, a place of Idanre people history

If you are planning a trip to Idanre. I will advice you sleep over in Akure so you can leave early in the morning. If you have a car, it's alright. If not, simply go to Old Garage in Akure and ask anyone where you can get bus to Idanre. They will give you accurate description. You can also take a bike to Idanre Garage from Old Garage. This should be 100-150NGN.

The trip itself costs only 400NGN.

For the sights, it cost 1,000NGN while you can pay any amount to the tour guide as there's no structure as the time of this review on how tour guides are compensated.

You can visit here alone or with a group

Big ups to my tour guide named John. He was patient enough to tell me the history of Idanre and it was amazing to listen to the stories.

Definitely enjoyed my visit here and I look forward to coming back here.

Beautiful scenery, gruelling climb.

The Idanre Hills climb experience was just too great for words. Climbing all 681 steps to take in the view at the top was just something else. Exhilarating feeling and the walk through the various facilities the villagers in the past used when they lived on the hill for decades, the school, native court, prison, mausoleum and kings palace etc. We had a wonderful guide and myself and entire family enjoyed it.
