Makalu Resort is really the only option for foreigners passing through, most likely to the eponymous national park. We stayed at one of the hotels outside the airport gates (I won’t mention which one), and our flight was pushed back a day so we gladly decided to take literally any other option. This place came up in our search and it is miles ahead of anything else in town.
Fans, wifi and a relatively cheap menu for a 2000 rs room (there are also A/C rooms available for the same price, we were just worried about power cuts) is a steal compared to what you’ll put up with in other places.
Could be cleaner, but on the grading curve of other hotels in the area, it does a pretty good job.

Nice, spacious and clean rooms. Friendly staff. A very nice garden for relaxing. A quiet and peaceful place. I can fully recommend it. I am German and on motobiketour in Northeast-India and Eastnepal.

In a small place like Tumlingtor, Makalu Resort will be best place to stay or eat. Staff is very helpfull. Food is good and hygienic.
There are rooms with ac.
