Nagarkot, a charming hill station situated approximately 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, is one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations. On clear days, visitors can enjoy unobstructed views of the snow-capped peaks, including Mount Everest, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Annapurna. The sunrise and sunset views from Nagarkot are particularly spectacular, with the golden rays of the sun illuminating the majestic mountains, creating a mesmerizing sight.Nagarkot is easily accessible from Kathmandu. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours by road, with several transportation options available, including taxis, private cars, and local buses.

For a non-climber & if you have a short stay in Kathmandu it would be most worth your while. We took one of the guided tours from Kathmandu itself which had hotel pickups which made it very convenient. Depending on where you stay the “Sunrise” part requires one to wake up early as its a good hour plus to get there from Kathmandu. We went during the lower tourist season in mid February which was perfect. On a clear day picturesque does not do justice to the views especially at a lower second vantage point below the tower. We also hiked down through the village thereafter which offered a good glimpse into rural life around Nagarkot. While we were blessed with clear blue skies do check the weather conditions before going as it can be cloudy.

Nagarkot is a place from where you can see the mt. Everest. You will not have any viewpoints to see at nagarkot , neither you will be in a rush. take 1 full day in minimum. Wake up at 4.30 in the morning. go to the hill top by 5am. And observe the changing color of the mountains. This sunrise is special as you will be searching Everest all over the time. and then suddenly a new peak would appear and it will be seemed as Everest. It will go on. so be in suspense and try it by yourself.

One of the mesmerizing places to enjoy sunrise and sunset. Parts of Himalayan mountain range is visible from the watch tower. There are a lots of resorts and hotels located nearby. It could be a perfect holiday destination too. The beautiful view is surely going to refresh one's mind and soul.

It’s a nice location to get a view of the full Himalayan mountain range. You should of course go on a clear day, not raining or fog. I went out a clear beautiful day in mid December. The route to the viewpoint and tower is 80% paved and 20% gravel, you are going to be going t through a lot of little Nepali villages, lots of local resorts on the way, and a lot of little restaurants for stops to eat and relax. It’s about an hour drive from main Khatmandu city center. I preferred this over chandagiri because I wanted to go through the villages and farm area. For me it was totally worth it and also the view at the end. Obviously the photos don’t it it justice, I’m using an iPhone but I should have taken a DSLR for the photos. There is also some street food options right outside the main entrance in the parking area. We had tea, fried snacks and junk food mainly, they are not really restaurant just spicy street food. If you prefer a relaxing smooth way to the top, I would recommend chandigiri, my family preferred this, I love this bumpy experience :)

Woke up early and drove like 1.5 hours to reached this amazing place. You can see the view of Himalayan mountain.

The view from this tower is majestic, it was just too bad that it is so foggy on that day. It was a cold morning when we went before we start our hike on the Nagarkot village.

We have a very good tour guide and knowledgeable one, also our driver is so kind. We will recommend to visit this Tower if you visit Nepal.

It was fun going there, I recommend you to go there just before sunset or sunrise so that you can enjoy the view.

Nagorkot Geodic Survey Tower is a excellent spot for watching Sun Rise and Sun Set. Road condition to the Nagorkot Survey Tower is good but the sharp tern in the road is very dangerous. From the Tower one can enjoy the entire surrounding area.Two negative points about these Tower is that there is no people to manage the line to go upstairs of the Tower and another one is there is no safety measurement for any mishaps. No Entry Fees is needed to enter the Nagarkot Tower. To go to the Tower one have to take about 50 to 60 stairs. My suggestion is that for Sunset view take atleast 1: 30 hour in hand . On the road if you are lucky you can see the Annapurna Range also.

Best place to go for a quick break from the hectic KTM.
If you miss the best time to visit, stay the night at one of the lovely and respectable hotels nearby. Trips on bikes are another option here. Beautiful setting a calm atmosphere There from, you may take in the views of the Kathmandu Valley and more than six renowned high summits. It is advised to go on a weekday to avoid crowds.

Nagarkot View Tower and Nagarkot are truly breathtaking places to visit. The views of the Everest range from the tower are simply stunning, and the Nepali Army Training Center nearby adds an interesting dimension to the experience. The small food kiosk operated by local people provides a lovely opportunity to enjoy some tea, coffee, and light meals while soaking in the natural beauty of the area.

One of the highlights of my visit to Nagarkot was waking up early to see the sunrise. It was an unforgettable experience. Watching the sun slowly rise over the Himalayas, illuminating the snow-capped peaks, was truly magical. It was a moment of peace and serenity that will stay with me forever.

The Nepali Army Training Center nearby adds a unique dimension to the visit. Seeing the soldiers in training and learning about the military history of Nepal was fascinating. It was also great to see how the Nepali army is working to preserve the natural environment in the area.

The small food kiosk run by local people is a must-visit. The food was simple but delicious, and the hospitality of the locals was heartwarming. It's a great opportunity to chat with some of the people who call Nagarkot home and learn more about the local culture.

Overall, Nagarkot View Tower and Nagarkot are amazing places to visit. The natural beauty of the area combined with the unique military and cultural history of the region make for an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone traveling to Nepal.

Awesome view point ! This tower 🗼 gives non removable memory Life Time. I can't tell my feeling in word when you reach here. From here can see SEVERAL HIMALAYAN PEAK.if like adventure You have to reach here once in life . Roads and peaks are very dangerous. You have to hire a professional driver to reach here. Car route is very very dangerous. You can can car , motor cycle, bike, cycle or through hiking. With all safety measures.

Best place to visit near Kathmandu. The view from the view tower was spectacular 😍 It's a must visit place. I will recommend it to all of you guys. I went there for a sunset. It was really good although the phone couldn't capture the wonderful view but still I will post it for reference.
