San Vicente Ferrer Church

San Vicente Ferrer patron saint of the sick. This church is visited by most because sincere prayers to the saint Vincent Ferrer can heal the sick. The church Sunday mass schedule is first mass at 5am, 2nd is 7am and third is at 9am.

The Vito Church, officially named San Vicente Ferrer Church, is synonymous to devotion and healing. If a Catholic devotee or his/her love one is suffering from a sickness this is the church to visit and pray for the intercession of the patron saint who is known for healing the sick and performing many miracles in his life.
My wife and I together with our youngest son, Ethan, visited this church in Brgy. Vito, Sagay City on Father's Day. The occasion and day of our visit just happened to coincide. My wife has long been mauling over for a visit to Vito for reasons that I do not exactly know but I have a feeling that she's asking for the intercession of the Saint for an important matter. Anyway, this is the second San Vicente Ferrer church we visited after the Talisay City church which was also built by the Recollects in Negros Island from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century.
I was half expecting the church to be built of coral limestone (I haven't seen even a photograph of it prior to our visit) and I was quite dismayed when I gazed it for the first time. It proved to be a 1930s structure and not the centuries-old Baroque edifice. Yet, when I entered the church I was awed by its lavish and well-kept interior. To the right of the altar stands the "santos" of San Vicente Ferrer known for its miraculous healing.
There were just a few devotees during our visit but representing just the same the spectrum of society from the lowly man in slippers, a businessman and his family, aspiring content creators like my wife recognizable for their steady hold of their cellular phone cameras, mothers, etc. We haven't seen the festive atmosphere of the church on the First Friday of the month when even the Ceres bus company put extra trips to the place which is out of the way of the national road between the Sagay City and Escalante City.

It’s my second time to be in this church. The first time was like 20-30 years ago. Viva, San Vicente Ferrer de Vito!

Many people and devotees flock this place during its patron saint celebration....the place is holy and many believed that ST. VICENTE FERRER works its wonders through countless miracles that takes place on its devotees.

1st Friday of May visit.

Spare time to visit Vito Shrine.

People are drawn to this church because of its numerous miracles given to people. Always crowded every first friday of the month. The people, including myself visit the church to pray for healing and thanksgiving to Sr. San Vicente, the patron Saint of the church. 🙏

My first visit of this church is full of people as in full inside and outside. In fact where just outside since we could not penetrate going inside. This is one of the most popular old church in Negros Occidental where people mostly believe if they make a devotion that their prayers are being answered. For those who are sick be healed and those who wants some blessings be blessed. I notice that most devotees bring clothes, necklaces, bracelet, flowers all you can think of to be blessed with holy water after the mass which I also did. My experience is a great older Church which a lot of believers/ devotees that travel far away all over Negros Occidental and from any other places in the Philippines just to experience the blessings from this Holy place.

We always go here for blessings every year.

I've been here together with my wife and younger daughter for a patron visit. . A memorable place for since baptism and a yearly visit with my mama. . . My mama and papa were already in heaven. .
