Bataan National Shrine is situated atop the mountain with 550m elevation, overlooking nearby the picturesque Bataan towns and Manila Bay. The iconic giant Memorial Cross which is about 95m in height still remains mesmerizing (on a clear day it can be seen from MOA by the bay). Visitors are not allowed anymore to climb the cross as it needs renovation. The shrine is well maintained. Right after the entrance gate, there's local tourism office with staff and tourist guides. There are some souvenir shops, cold drinks vendors. The uphill climb from the highway has a series of stiff turns, be sure your car is conditioned. The place reminds me how selfless and courageous Filipinos are defending the country from foreign envaders. It is great that this shrine/monument was erected in honor of the fallen heroes.

First time to this place. I've wanted to visit the place since my childhood days because you can see the cross from our hometown in Navotas.

We went there on a rainy day. Almost zero visibility due to the fog. We were not allowed to go up to the cross.

Restrooms are available.

Place opens at 8 am, and the entrance is 50 pesos per head with 50 pesos for parking if you bring your car.

They give the people a short seminar pertaining about the rules and regulations within the place (no eating while on the tour, and you're not allowed to fly your drone).

Be ready for a lot of walking and spectacular views (pro tip: bring an umbrella).

I have a great time all the history. The Crosss. But my problem is the restroom in the area. It's really bad unsanitary. I made a comment to people who take care of them about this. I am ashamed. It's really bad with all the money they collect they should have a decent well maintained restroom. I hope they can read this . Put a private
company to maintain the rest room if you guys can't do it. I don't mind being charged to a a clean restroom.

The elevator is still close. Hope the government will fix that.

A mountain where this key national shrine is - that just juts and stands out in the middle of the plains Profoundly moving for Filipinos Strictly opens only at 8am sharp - on Sunday, expect crowds of cars and, in particular, motorcyclists that make the pilgrimage to Mount Samat National Shrine.

Souvenirs and some light snacks can be taken at the entrance. You must attend the orientation before they let you visit the Shrine

A must visit once in your lifetime

No need of long walk, can be visited within 1-2 hours. WW2 Museum is small but I liked the descriptions and the pictures. Loved the gardens, the big cross at the top of the mountain is impressive - 2nd largest in World. Thinking about the normal PH Standards, I recommend also western tourist the place to visit. Its worth it!

The place is nice, all employees are organized and proper orientation before you can go hiking. There are now comfort rooms, there is entrance and exit so people will not just go around so you have to obey their new rules, there's a food stall and a souvenir shop near the entrance, The view is very nice and cold because of the cloud. The museum is amazing and the history was surreal.

WWII museum and atop a mountain. Beautiful, panoramic views of Bataan from the museum or from the giant cross. The elevator at the cross is not working whenever I visit so I have never been at the viewing deck in the cross before. I bet it will be an even greater view up there. But even if you are not able to get inside the cross, it is still worth visiting.

One of the must-visit sites if you're into history tourism. A great place to learn about the what happened to our people in this area during the World War II.

Engraved on the walls of the "Dambana ng Kagitingan" is an account of the story of the soldiers who took the last stand in the Battle of Bataan. And then some more.

Even if you're not into history, the views from this peak are just spectacular.

Great view on top! Great History finds for World War 2.
Best to go here early in the morning around 8-9am to catch that good cold weather and the sunshine still does not hurt. Do not get too late in the afternoon as there are no post lights in the road down the mountain and currently have road constructions in some parts of the trail.
There is a minimal entrance fee of P30.00 per person and P40.00 for the parking. Not bad for an awesome view and experience.
There are also some stalls there where you can buy some snacks, drinks, and souvenirs.
The CR though do not have lights when we visited but are clean.

A great historical visit to add on your next travel, here in Bataan. Built to honor and remember the gallantry of Filipino and American soldiers who fought The Battle of Bataan during World War II. The shrine complex also includes a war museum with a wide array of collections from paintings of the Philippine heroes, to armaments used by the Filipino, American and Japanese forces during the battle. Enjoy the panoramic view of Bataan, Corregidor Island especially if you go on top level of the cross.

A befitting memorial to the heroes of WW2.
It was commissioned in 1966 by then-President Ferdinand Marcos as part of the 25th Anniversary of the Second World War. The giant cross served as a remembrance to the Filipino and American forces who lost their lives during the Battle of Bataan. The complex also contained a war museum, which contains collections and paintings of the Philippine heroes, as well as artifacts such as weaponry and other equipment that was used during the battle. From atop the cross, visitors can see the panoramic view of Bataan and on a clear day, the capital Manila can be seen, fifty kilometers away across the Manila Bay.

Mt. Samat is one of the tourist spot here in Bataan. You will experience to go back in the past of our ancestors once you came here. There's a lot of old things or antique that they kept inside their museum way back from the past. And you will be amazed to the beautiful scenery viewing from the top of the cross. For sure you will love to go back and fort in this place. So check out and see for yourself! 😍
