It was absolutely amazing! I've seen a lot of people mistaking this for the tourist route, though it's a totally different thing. Szymon was our guide and he made the tour interactive and fun. He seemed very knowledgeable about the mine and taught the group (which was only 9 people) tons about the shaft itself and life in it. He also seemed like he has a real passion for it! He was super friendly and helpful.

In summary. Loved it

This is the starting point of the miner’s route. In this 2-3hours trip, you will learn the knowledge of mining, making ropes, grinding salt and timber logging. Visitors will be carried down to underground by elevators in the beginning and will start explore the underground mine with an excellent guide. The guide is super interesting and with really clear English without any accents. He makes the trip even more interesting by sharing his stories and also humorous. Highly recommended to come and visit this big mine since it is a completely different experience than the visitor’s route. You will have a lot of hands-on and practical experience and will get a certificate after finishing the trip! Over all, this is one of the best moments I had in Poland. Will also try the visitor’s route next time!

This is the actual entrance of mines route tour of salt mines.

Please come here.

You may find the behind door first when you are coming from the train station side but actually you need to come at the back side.

I had an amazing experience here and I am sure you’ll love it too. You’ll go up to 101 meter underground

Absolutely Breathtaking! PLEASE LOOK AT ATTACHED PHOTOS

For starters this place is more than a salt mine, A LOT more than a salt mine. The trip features a stairway down to three different depths in which the tour guide of your preferred language (which there are many options) will present you absolutely fascinating places within the mine. The tour is thorough, covering what feels like a massive portion of the salt mine, but is in reality roughly 2%.

Thought lots of walking, it’s a very comfortable trip. Within the cave is rather cool (bring a sweater if you’re easily cold) and it’s easily traversable for anyone at any age as long as stairs are NOT a problem.

I was shocked by the massive instillations within the cave, which were all unlike anything I’d ever seen before. Furthermore, there is a gift shop and multiple restrooms throughout the tour, all of which are very underground which is fascinating in itself.

I highly recommend this thorough, unique, and unforgettable experience for anyone. Once again look at the photos I have attached; though it shows a lot of what’s covered it won’t ruin the first hand experience for you.

HAVE FUN

Great tip that took over 2 1/2 hours with a fantastic guide. Lots of steps but the paths and stairs are all excellent. Those over 6 ft6 need to be careful occasionally with head height but anyone 6ft and lower will be unaffected. Lots of interesting things to see and marcel at - well worth a visit.

The visit here was certainly worth it. The mandatory guide gave a lot of interesting Information about the age of the different parts od the buildings but also of their uses and the general working conditions.

The salt mine itself is very big and many parts of it very quite beautiful to see like for example the big chapel.

Worth the money.

We started the tour at 5pm on a Sunday (the last tour on that day) and there were abt 12 ppl so it was nice, perfect size for a tour with guide. I read a lot of reviews saying that they had to go with a group of 30-40ppl, that’s not nice, but we were lucky so imo it was 5 star experience.
(I bought the “Auschwitz I - Auschwitz Birkenau - Salt Mine” tour for ~ 64€ per person including tickets and transportation from Super Cracow). (We actually had a bad experience with the Auschwitz tour as they tried to squeeze 30-40 ppl into the tour with just 1 guide).

This is truly something you have to see with your own eyes. A salt mine that is over 700 years old, and reaches a depth of 327 meters. The mine is not in use anymore since the 1990s, it has now been transformed to a museum where you can book guided tours through a small part of the mine (~4km). In addition to the huge caves with salt stalagmites, there are several chambers throughout the mine with sculptures made out of the salt rich stone. There are also several light shows and break rooms where you can buy yourself something to eat/drink, or a souvenir from the mine. The guides are talented and educated, the only downside to this place is the collisions of several groups during the tours, sometimes there are more than one group in one place and the guides are talking over each other.

I enjoyed every single moment while being there, overwhelmingly great and rich place with all the details. It is something impressive and huge to build and maintain over centuries. Every person should visit Kraków, and every person most visit this mine once at least.

The reason why medieval Poland had a lot of money, the history runs deep within this mind, pun very much intended...This mine is crazy fir how large it is and for all of the beautiful chapels and sculptures within it, all made of pure salt. Anyone interested in history, architecture, geology, or mining should come here most definitely. Very interesting insight of the old Polish economy and trade of salt.

If you are going to Krakow you really need to have a trip here. This is a gem! I had such a great time. Perfect for winter visits as its warm inside. The visit is guided and you have several languages. There is the possibility to buy salt from the mine in the shop :)

We went on the Miners route (me and my family) and it was absolutely amazing. The guide was very attentive and knowledgeable. The equipment that they give you was clean and properly prepared. Be ready to walk a lot and wear proper shoes, and dress warmly, because it is a bit chilly. The chambers and walkways are quite spacious, you don't have to crawl or anything like that. The tasks that the guide gives you are interesting and aren't very physically taxing.

Oh. My. God. This place is amazing! Up to 327 meters in depth and over 287km in length. Claustrophobic dream. Salt, salt, salt, salt, suddenly rocks, salt, salt, a bit of wood, salt, salt... guess? Exactly. Salt. Thousands of it. Almost everything you see on photos is made of salt. This mine has been open to tourists since 15th century (nowadays ~1.2M people annually). In 1972 the Wieliczka was placed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Must-visit.

A must see for all tourists who are visiting Krakow. Yo will be amazed what human hands can do! If you want to take photos skip paying them 10 zlots, they won't fine you. Be prepared for long walks. It is not as cold as they say it'll be. But it can be a little windy because of the draft between corridors.

It's an absolute must if you're in Krakow. Expect to walk A LOT, especially at the end, on the way to the elevator. Worth every zloty/euro, our italian-speaking guide was fun and witty! The guided tour lasts roughly 2.30 hours and they have a specific timetable for each language. There is a café and a souvenir shop near the entrance, and a chapel, a ballroom, a restaurant and other (costly) souvenir shops 100m below the surface!
