I have been to Ephesus, and I enjoyed this experience MUCH more as we were among the only people here in addition to only 2 tour buses and a few other individuals in small groups. The site is SPECTACULAR. Leave yourself a couple of hours at least. The cafe doesn't have food except for tea, coffee, and chocolate bars, so bring some snacks with you. This is a must-see place. A car is required. Lots of parking.

Beautiful city and great history about this ancient city, I went from Pamukkale to this place and road and view on the way was awesome.

This city has a good history behind, please read on Google about it before you go than it will be more exiting trip.
Aphrodisias is located in southwestern Turkey, in the fertile valley formed by the Morsynus River, in the ancient region of Caria. The serial property consists of two components. The first component encompasses the archaeological site of Aphrodisias following the city walls that encircle the city; and the second component includes the marble quarries located northeast of the city. Aphrodisias was founded as a city-state in the early 2nd century BC

Best of luck guys

One of the best experiences while visiting lots of ancient cities in area. Fantastic museum, stadium is just great.

Worth to mention that the road trip from Bodrum was quite a scenic!

I’ve been to many ancient Roman and Greek cities and archaeological sites in Europe and North Africa, and this one is so amazing and unforgettable. We made a detour on our way to Pamukkale and it was definitely worth it.

Highlights:

1. The column friezes with figure heads. There are so many of them that they were piled into walls. Each figure has its own facial characteristic and expressions. Absolutely amazing.

2. The pool is so impressive in size that you can’t help but wonder how majestic it would look in the Roman period.

3. The stadium is also amazing in its size. It’s difficult to find another one as well preserved as this one elsewhere in the world, perhaps except for the Circus Maximus of Rome.

4. There are around 700 sacorphagi found in this city. There are so many of them that they are basically laid around the museum. In terms of exquisiteness they probably can’t compare with the ones in the archaeological museum of Istanbul, but the sheer variety of the sacorphagi’s decorations give one much more room to imagine what ordinary people’s life was like in the eastern part of the empire.

5. The basilica used to have stone plates with Diocletian’s edicts of maximum prices written on them. The stone plates are no longer there (probably in the museum, but the museum was closed on the day of our visit), but the explanatory notes on the site were absolutely fascinating, giving you a concrete idea of what everything costed back then.

The amphitheater is not as big as the one in Ephesus, but this place definitely has things that you can’t find elsewhere. Definitely worth a special visit!

One of the best Roman sites in the world. Much bigger site than the ones in Athens. Comparable to Acropolis in terms of buildings and quality.

This is truly a must see. Beautiful sightseeing and a well preserved ancient city. The stadion and theatre are huge. Also the museum attached to it is worth your time. Beautiful statues. There is a cafeteria for drinks and souvenirs.

One of the best places I've ever been. It is a little bit out of the way for most travelers, but this is easily one of the best ancient sites in the country to visit and it is underrated. I consider it a hidden gem. The stadium is massive and gorgeous and in great condition considering its age, the temple itself is beautiful despite how little of it there is left, and the entire city is larger than you may expect. So if you start wandering you will find stuff like I did. You can spend an entire day here if you enjoy exploring. The gift shop is clean and nice, the grounds are well kept and the museum has a lot of lovely artifacts and statues. I found the exploration outside to be far more interesting than the museum itself.

Please treat the place with respect. Be humble. Understand that these people don't have a civilization anymore, so tread lightly and enjoy.

Aphrodisias Ancient City is a historical marvel set amidst Turkey's stunning landscape. Visitors are treated to a magnificent display of well-preserved ruins that transport you back to the Roman era. Standout features include the awe-inspiring Tetrapylon, the expansive stadium, and the remarkable reliefs in the Sebasteion. The onsite museum is a treasure trove, housing countless artifacts that provide a deeper understanding of this ancient city. Despite its grandeur, Aphrodisias remains less crowded than other historical sites, offering a more serene and intimate experience. For those passionate about history and archaeology, Aphrodisias is an absolute must-visit. You'll leave enriched and captivated by its timeless beauty.

A small treasure in the middle of nowhere. Worth the visit. It a about 2 hours stop. It has access for wheelchair almost everywhere. The ticket cost 20 turkish liras. Kids 5 years old are free. 10 years old pay full ticket. The ice cream that they sell not worth it.

Amazing place and because most of the people prefer to visit Ephesus city, this one isn’t crowded what makes it an amazing experience

A superb, enigmatic site, all the more so as we were the only people there !
The architectural detail that remains are amazing in there detail.
If you visit, DO NOT miss the museum, which contains some of the finest Graeco-Roman sculpture anywhere !

Great place. Seems like still in process of restoration, but has a lot to see already. Not very popular for now, so for photos much better than Ephesus, we've met around 20 tourists in 2 hours. Pool and senator house are pretty unique.

This is not a "visit if it's on the way" location, this is "make the detour because it is worth it" location. If you are interested in ancient Greek and Roman history you must explore this city. Not only is it well preserved, but also the museum offers a walkthrough of renowned Roman Caesars and their family of the transitional period from republic to empire. The depictions of the statues and the reliefs offer a peek at that age and you see those names come alive in the cold marble. The sheer size of the stadium is staggering and if you want to do it right, you will find that you will hardly be able to exhaust this city in 3-4 hours. The fee is almost comically cheap so get off the road and do not miss this chance to get bedazzled.

Wheelchair friendly. Easy to visit 80% by wheelchair or walker. Fell free to go with family. Safe for kids to observe the history. Don't forget to visit the museum. It has the best collection of the Lycia. It has restaurant and wc.

Absolutely fab site and worth the detour. The museum is filled with excellent examples of marblework and I could spend hours in the back room reading the stories of each freize.
Currently 280TL for foreigners. Tour coaches arrived at 1030 today but it's easy to avoid them (or be like a ninja and tag along for a free tour).
Most importantly, you can park RIGHT OUTSIDE! Don't follow the otopark signs heading away from the site, there's plenty of space at the bottom of the lane.
Take drinks and snacks - the cafe is expensive and the coffee terrible.

Fantastic old ruins and an incredible museum. The architecture, the landscape and the statues are truly breathtaking. I went there once but already planning to go back. My recommendation is to go in the winter months as it is much less crowded.

One of the most beautiful ancient cities in Anatolia. Named after Aphrodite, this city is home to one of the most incredible historical artifacts. One of a kind stadium, breathtaking Tetrapylon, gorgeous Sebasteion temple, beautiful theater, baths, agoras, statues and many more. It’s a must.
