I really recommend going there but not alone!
A bit scary alone trust me 😂
Put on your hiking shoes and visit this place.
There are 9 areas to visit and a long walk indeed. You can take many creative photos at this place!
Make sure to get cash with you!
20 TLs for car parking
30 TLs for entrance.

Magnificent! Also a Unesco World Heritage Site. Just a few minutes from the Navsehir airport and it's free. The architecture, history, engineering, lifestyle behind the rock-carved rooms, tunnels, and churches can't be described with words. Include this or any other similar place in the Cappadocia region in your bucket list. Bring sunscreen, water, and a good hat. We went mid Sep 2023 and it was very hot.

Açık Saray Müzezi archaeological site is an awe-inspiring gem that I wholeheartedly recommend exploring. This site offers a captivating journey into history, showcasing the remnants of a once-magnificent palace. What sets this experience apart is the absence of guided tours or audio guides.

Without the constraints of structured tours, you're free to immerse yourself in the site's rich history at your own pace. This offers a unique opportunity for personal reflection and connection with the ancient past.

Wandering through the remnants of Açık Saray, you'll be transported back in time, envisioning the grandeur that once graced these grounds. The lack of guided commentary allows your imagination to run wild, as you decipher the stories embedded in the ruins.

While there might not be a guide or audio guide, the site itself speaks volumes. You'll find information boards strategically placed throughout, offering insights into the significance of each structure. This approach encourages independent exploration and fosters a deeper engagement with the historical context.

If you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a unique archaeological adventure, Açık Saray Müzezi is an absolute must-visit. The absence of guided tours only enhances the experience, allowing you to uncover the mysteries of the past on your terms. Embrace the freedom to discover history in your own way, and let the ancient echoes of Açık Saray inspire your imagination.

I loved it for couple reasons, it’s free and the ‘houses’ and ‘churches’ are large and complex and you can freely explore them.
What you will not see here is paintings, the walls inside are plain (some burned dark by smoke). Also there was no one else there, so you can make nice photos without other tourists obscuring your views.

Not very announced otherwise it's a nice visit. It can seen lot if caves in even 3 or 4 levels, you may walk around freely, could be dangerous for kids.

Unbeknownst to many, this open air museum is such a hidden gem. It is very quiet and serene.

Very good area to walk around in and enjoy the cave houses and old churches. A bit steep but you're coming to Cappadocia, come on.
