What a fantastic find! This small cute restaurant serves a fixed price meal of about ten courses. Gourmet indigenous. Everything was unique and amazing. The preparation was stylish and delicious. The servers were especially helpful to make sure we (who speak only English) understood what we were eating. Such an enjoyable experience!

A really nice discovery. It was a really pleasant experience. Everything was excellent. It was a great culinary experience.

First we tried the millet and rice wine, then we had some local cheese with bao. It was followed by a soup with local vegetables, then grilled pork, then fish. I won't list all the plates we got there was so many !

I highly recommend it if you're curious to try aboriginal food ! The staff was great, professional and really helpful to accommodate us in English.

Thanks again for the great experience.

PS : bring a second digestive system, there is a ton to eat !

The meal is Prix Fixe, all dishes are pre selected for you and changes depending on the season and day. All trays are beautiful and made with tribal ingredients! A little pricy, but definitely worth the experience!

A nice restaurant right next to the beach offering amazing food colorfully garnished and lovely presented. In their 8-course degustation set, every single dish has its own unique character and different texture in decent portions. If you are looking for the most authentic aboriginal cuisines in Hualien, this place can not disappoint you with their locally-sourced tribe ingredients and the indigenous theme in the interior decorations.

Extraordinary restaurant in Hualien! There was no menu and at 2 price on weekends: NT$650/850. All the dishes(10) were amazing. My favorite was pumpkin soup and salt roast Wu Guoyu! Pretty full of it. Friendly and quick service. Remember to make a reservation in advance. Do not miss this local creative cuisine if you come to Hualien.

Great dishes and have a pleasant dining environment. The rice-based alcohol drink taste excellent and definitely will make guests brought home as souvenirs. Not far from the restaurant allows visitors to have a closer view of the ocean, just bear in mind to keep a safe distance. Everything’s nearly perfect, except that the location is bit difficult to track down, so a sign board at the road entrance is strongly recommended.

Very pleasantly surprised by this little gem by the sea. ‘No menu’ 8-course degustation is beautifully presented in sumptuous portions. The use of Taiwan indigenous tribe ingredients is very interesting, including Tana leaves (刺蔥), Maqaw (馬告), millet wine, wild vegetables. My daughter’s favorite was millet and sticky rice wrap - 伊娜月桃粽 - which translates into “Mother’s beautiful Galangal leaf rice wrap”, beautiful! There is hardly any waiting time between dishes.
My only comment is how I wish the covid restrictions will cease soon so we don’t need to eat with plexiglass partitions, and that the staffs can explain the dishes and ingredients more for an even more wholesome experience.

Reminiscing about overseas travel got me thinking about my last overseas trip to Taiwan. We based ourselves in Hualien to explore Taroko National Park, and we couldn't pass the opportunity to visit Mu Ming Restaurant. We made a booking in advance for dinner, and took a taxi from Hualien.

We found the service to be extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing! I'm glad that the food was served degustation style as we got to try a range of dishes. The dishes were beautifully plated and this perfectly complemented the amazing flavours. The serving sizes were extremely generous as well. Highlights of the night for me were the fish, and the fermented drink.

Taiwan was an amazing place to travel to, and the next time we are in Hualien, we'll definitely visit Mu Ming again.

You need a reservation and there is no menu because they have a single set menu where they just keep bringing tasty food as appetizers (shrimp, bread, Sweet rice wine), salads and fresh juice, soup (pumpkin), main (lemongrass fish and juicy chicken), and ice cream. There is a time limit of 1-1/2 hours. It was delicious and we were very full at the end. Price was 650 yen per person.

Great value and excellent food. Don't know if it authentic aboriginal food but it did indeed exceed our expectations. The disclaimer is that we didn't have any expectations at all as this was simply one of the two restaurants next to our hotel.

Delicious indigenous restaurant that combines traditional Amis food with fine dining. There is no menu and local ingredients are used. They serve two course meals: one lunch set and one dinner set. Reservations are required as there are set dining times. Lunch is served at 11 AM and 1 PM; dinner is served either at 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM. We had the 650 NTD dinner set and it was a 10 course meal.

Whoa!!! Incredible tasting menu of fresh local ingredients prepared in aboriginal dishes, all for $650 TWD/ person ($21.72 USD as of 5/2018). So delicious, friendly, reasonable, and filling! The fish was so fresh it just melted in my mouth. It’s a must if you are anywhere near Taroko/Hua Lien.

This is a lovely local restaurant, serving local Taiwanese food. The menu is fixed and the dishes just keep on coming, perfectly ordered. The roast pork and salt baked fish were amazing. We loved the local beer.

Love, love, love this tiny creative restaurant visited November 2016. Full-course meal at one fixed price, and come to be served without knowing what’s on the menu. There is no menu. Reservation must be made months in advance, very unlikely to get a table for last minute walk-in.
A Hard to find place, but worth going out of my way to dine here. It’s still one of the most memorable restaurants during my last Taiwan visit, if not the most memorable. I’d totally want to visit again next time.
Not inexpensive for locals, but a fair price for us from the U.S. I’d paid the same price dining here rather than having a nice steak dinner. Forgot how much but likely between $40-$50-ish USD per person.
Dishes are served super fast, one after another. The flavor compliments so well, from drinks, main course, appetizers, just everything. I would love to have 2 stomachs for this place.
The appearance of this place may not do it justice. But this is certainly a fine dining experience for my pallet.
Love, love, LOVE this place. Amongst the best of the best in my encounters so far.
