We chose the Aiyana for our honeymoon because Pemba Island seemed less touristy than Zanzibar, albeit harder to get to. We couldn’t have made a better decision.

Every person on staff goes above and beyond, and the gardens, the rooms, the beach, and the food make this place worth the extra travel.

Makame took us on a 5am deep sea fishing expedition, and we walked the kingfish we caught straight to the kitchen, to be made into sashimi for lunch and sautéed for dinner. Later that day, he took us for a tour of the village where he grew up. Nothing was a show - it was just a genuine Friday evening with extremely welcoming people.

Mattea planned spontaneous group activities like a sunset sail and a candlelit beach dinner. Even small requests briefly mentioned in passing were heard and immediately actioned.

If and when we make it back to this region, we will make time to come back to the Aiyana.

Genuinely loved staying here. The location, the food, everything was great. The real difference, however, was the staff. Service was excellent. Attentive, friendly, can-do attitude all round. Many of the staff are employed from the local area too, and local guides were used in excursions, which is a positive. Not cheap, but if you can get past the cost I can't recommend the Aiyana enough.

Absolutely loved our stay. From flights to Pemba, car ride to the hotel, an experience in itself. Only few hotels on the island, not many tourists which was what we wanted. You get more than an hour car ride through the jungle and villages to get from and to the airport, which we suggest to take during the day as it's an unexpected experience. Raw unspoiled nature. Probably the bluest water around. Also take a day trip to a nearby sandbank at low tide.
The food was delicious and local cuisine. Absolutely loved the staff. They made the whole experience better.

This is the most perfect resort located on the most beautiful island with the friendliest people. It takes an extra couple hours to get there from Zanzibar but I could not recommend making the trip more. It is so much more low key and beautiful than Zanzibar with no one hassling you on the beach. The architecture and level of finishes in the whole resort is impeccable and the best I’ve seen. They make the excursions so easy and affordable and I cannot recommend this place more. This is pure luxury in the middle of paradise. The food was incredible every single time too. We had a fantastic 3 week honeymoon and our stay here was the highlight of it.

We were staying at a resort nearby and came to eat at the Aiyana multiple times for lunch & dinner over our time on Pemba due to the great food and even better hospitality. We have never had such a friendly welcome! Adam and Gerard in particular went out of their way to make us feel at home. Big thanks.

Definitely worth the visit to this little paradise. Takes a 30 min plane from zanzibar and an hour and half taxi ride from the airport. But trust me when you reach you will understand why I would strongly recommend the trip. Staff including the manager are friendly and welcoming. The food was also amazing. The beach is also beautiful especially on high tide with no beach boys trying to sell you things.

Breathtaking scenery, luxurious villas, incredible food every single day, and the most joyful and attentive staff you could possibly imagine. At least one good vegetarian main for every meal, and lots of incredible seafood options.

Oh and the beach! Glorious white sand and turquoise waters in a sheltered bay.

If you’re coming here plan on staying for several days. The ride from airport was long and bumpy but worth it. Hassan is resort manager and does a great job. Food was good and scenery is fantastic.

Thank you, Aiyana Team for the great experience! Philippe and staff made our stay here wonderful. This place is paradise from the architecture, healthy and local food, turkise water, sunsets, pretty flours and comfortable villas! But what‘s even more imporant: The Hotel supports the village: 70% of the employees are directly from the island and with your stay at the Aiyana you contribute to schools, water pumps and ocean protection. Also, the beach is public, so Pemba residents can use it as well, which is great.

From the moment we arrived at the airport in Pemba, we were so well cared for by The Aiyana staff.

The General Manager Philippe went above and beyond to make sure we had the most magical honeymoon and his staff were so lovely and attentive. We were treated to romantic dinners on the beach, a sunset cruise and a stunning room upgrade. The food and drink choices were spectacular and you couldn’t get a more beautiful beachfront location.

The only bad part of our six nights there was leaving. We can’t wait to get back to The Aiyana in the future.

Best experience ever! Wonderful location, great villas, perfect service. Using local ressources makes the resort very sustainable and still luxurious. Great food, especially the daily fresh fish and the local chicken. Phillip Dupont has assembled the most friendly and helpful staff, the ten days we spent at Aiyana were pure joy- highly recommended!
PS: Afro divers nearby provide perfect diving opportunities, pick-up by boat or car went very smoothly, Pemba is a great place for diving

I had a wonderful2 weeks stay at the Aiyana , It was a very peaceful.and beautiful place , I loved the Architecture and the landscaped garden , our villa was was well equipped and with a swimming pool and an outside shower . the service was excellent almost personal ... The Aiyana a Staff made sure that we were comfortable and saw to all our needs at all time during our stay. The food was fresh grown and cultivated in and around the villages..... And also we enjoyed a lot of sea food freely caught on daily basis.. We had outings to the villages which was awesome , a place that is untouched by civilisation . We visited the Mangrove and the sandbank where we had a beautiful lunch with a beautiful glass of wine. The whole place seems to mingle with the sea , a pleasure to eat at the open restaurant , and a drink in the evening at bar under the glittering stars and the moon. The spa was an exotic experience . we met the owner who is a very talented but humble Gentleman . He made sure that he greeted us , to welcome us to his Hotel. We felt like being home . Our last night was made very special for us , we had a. Romantic dinner on the beach ... We were escorted tour table and the path we walked on were laced with flower petals, made us feel very special. This is definetely a place we will visit in the near future
