Double Coat Painting

Double Coat Painting is the best kept secret in Lee's Summit! I recently used them to paint the interior of my house. They were by far the most affordable option and did a phenomenal job. The owner is onsite and does most of the painting himself! He was on time (usually early), finished a day faster than expected, and had great communication throughout the entire process. Because of the high quality of their work, we already hired them to paint the exterior of our house in the spring.

From the first meeting we knew Mike and the Double Coat Painting team were the right fit. He walked us through his process, consulted with us on paint type and set expectations for when the work was going to be done.

His crew was very friendly and they did an amazing job. We are a pretty meticulous family when it comes to our home. Double Coat exceeded our expectations!

Very impressed by the communication, efficiency, affordability and most importantly, the work done. We had our house painted and quite a bit of trim replaced and Mike kept us updated on the progress and the end result far surpassed our expectations. Excellent job, outstanding quality, and would highly recommend to anyone. We will definitely be calling back if we have any future needs that fall within the range of services offered.

Even though they were the most expensive of the quotes Mike was a great salesman and sold us on Sherwin Williams Duration which at the time was apparently one of the best.

Mike and crew did the job in a few days and it looked great initially. After year 3 we started noticing some fading which got worse and worse very quickly. One of our shutters on the upper floor needed replacing and while on a ladder replacing it I noticed the top of the trim pieces only had light overspray on them, not even one full coat. After closer inspection it was a common theme of not full coverage on the top of trim pieces.

5 years or so after they painted, the house looked terrible and after talking with Shermin Williams their only thought was water was used to dilute the paint to spray better.

I called Mike and told him what was going on and asked if he could come out and take a look and he agreed. I contacted Mike again and asked when he was coming out he said he was busy at the moment and call back the next day. I called the next day and he said he was about to get on a flight and to call back. I got the hint and stopped calling.

After year 6 I started calling for estimates and for the heck of it I called Double Coat and told them I wanted an estimate. Low and behold Mike finally showed up but luckily forgot he painted my house.

We walked around the house and told him when it was last painted, showed him severe fading, paint not applied to the top of trim and he even pointed out missed paint in multiple grooves on the siding to which he criticized the company who did it and said they would do a better job. Once we finished looking over the house I explained that it was his company that painted it last. He then denied they did it until I showed him the paperwork for it years ago.

He proceeded to apologize, gave me a "discounted" quote which was still quite a bit more than the other quotes. Of course I did not go with it. All the other companies I had come out for quotes had the same opinion, it looked like the paint was watered down or Duration wasn't even used as our house should not have been that badly faded.

I will never recommend them and personally do not trust them at all.
