Hands down the easiest building department to work with in terms of permits and inspections. Andrea and Brandon are informative and helpful. We really appreciate them.

Why does this have bad reviews? I came here a few years ago around 10am to pay my property taxes so that I could get my tags for a new car. I simply walked right in, & paid. Well, it didn’t quite go like that at first because I tried to pay with my debit card only for the lady to tell me it was cash only. Luckily there was an ATM around the corner. I was I able to come back in 10 minutes, park (parking is good btw) & pay. I walked out, went around the corner to the Lee’s Summit dmv & get my tags which also took less than 30 minutes. I’ll be back in a few weeks to renew! 🙌🏼

The workers here are fantastic. They are always helpful for any questions i have and if they don't know the answer they direct me to someone who does. They're really fast too.

We have been a resident for almost 20 years and the city itself is a fantastic place to live and raise a family.
When we moved here there were 35,000 residents, we know exceed 100,000 which is a bit dissatisfying as it is starting to get congested and some elements that go along with a gr0wing population come with it.

One of the major issues we have with the city is the absurd rule of holding property owners responsible for sewer lateral lines that are not even on their property. We currently have a problem with a 5 foot piece of pipe that needs repaired but it is 9ft under the street (public property) yet they expect us to fork out around $20k to repair it.

They did have a supervisor come out and at least take a look and confirm, he was awesome and explained the situation more in depth.

This put unreasonable financial strain on property owners.

We would recommend Lee's Summit to anyone as a great place to live but this particular issue with holding property owners responsible for something on public property yet the city governs and regulate said public property. It is ridiculous.

Have not had good experiences with this city. If they want to change something on your block they will do so without input/communication so you have to know neighbors and get them to ban together to block city govt. Snow removal on residential streets doesn't seem to happen or is inconsistent. You pay higher taxes here than you would Cass county. You have to now pay for recycling at the curb through your trash service - they took away our Recycling Park we used to have that was free/supported by taxes.
Any yard waste you also have to pay/go through your trash service to have it removed OR go to the Recovery Park and Pay to have it disposed.
Most subdivisions here have HOAs so that's another expense. With everything - why would anyone want to move here? We will eventually sell this place and move out of here happily.
Downtown Lee's Summit strictly enforces their 2-hour limit parking!!! It can put a damper on things if you're trying to just hang out in the coffee shop and do homework or something. They will write tickets for this!

My brother was visiting from Florida. We went down town for breakfast and shopping. My daughter got a ticket for parking 2:15. On a Monday with open parking spots all around. This is a sure way to run people away from downtown and out to the shopping malls. Seem short sighted to me.

Literally a joke of a building. Got signs for tax waivers at the HR desk but then tell me they cant do it there with an empty line. Don't go here, save your time.
