Hawthorn, A Bed and Breakfast

The owners are lovely. Stayed there about 10 years ago. Some of the best breakfast I've had. Still thinking about it today and tell everyone I know about it.

Beautiful, beautiful place! Incredibly restored and maintained. Breakfast was delicious (I especially enjoyed the raspberry muffins...wow!) and VERY generous so don't make any lunch plans after a night here! Missed Wendy during breakfast but enjoyed our visit with Jim. I highly recommend staying here!

I recently hosted a bridal shower there, and I can't say enough about how great the experience was. I knew it would be a beautiful setting, but the food was delicious, the planning was so easy and they decorated the tables beautifully. When we discussed the menu in April, I mentioned the bride didn't like tomatoes, and they remembered. Everyone absolutely love the desert.

This was our first experience at at a bed and breakfast. Jim and Wendy made it a lovely experience. Our room was adorable. Breakfast was awesome and you get to choose the time you like to eat. The raspberry muffins were delicious. I would recommend this bed and breakfast for sure.

Everyone should take off to enjoy life for a moment and this bed and breakfast is the perfect place to do it . Jim and Wendy were wonderful host and hostess! Beautiful gardens , immaculate housekeeping , beautiful home and every comfort you could wish . Coffee in the morning to snacks in the evening nothing goes unnoticed to give you a effortless stay . Breakfast was scrumptious and beautiful at the same time !!! Even the the wildlife on the property seemed joyful of their surroundings . If you have never been you should definitely put this on you list of places to enjoy !

Jim and Wendy truly made us feel at home, and were as welcoming as can be. My wife and I stayed in the Westminster Suite over Christmas, and it was a perfect getaway. We got married the weekend before, and needed to get away and clear our heads. This was our first B&B experience, and I can't imagine anything better than our experience at Hawthorn. We have their number on our refrigerator, and will always be on the lookout for an excuse to call up an make a reservation for a weekend getaway. The mansion was decorated magnificently for Christmas. The only thing I could say when we first arrived was that it looked like it was straight out of a movie. It felt like we had been transported back in time, with all the comforts and amenities of our modern day. The room was enormous, and the sheets... Oh my goodness, the sheets. Softest sheets I've ever felt in my life. The mansion was meticulously well kept, and absolutely quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was, of course, absolutely incredible. Jim even made biscuits and gravy for my bride as a special request. If you are looking for peace, tranquility, hospitality, and the best breakfast of your life, look no further than Hawthorn.

I highly recommend if you are looking for a bed-and-breakfast! The the couple that is running it are very nice! Plus the breakfast that they supply for you is amazing, it is better than a five star hotel! My wife and I will be definitely going back next time we are going to Kansas City.

Jim and Wendy were so welcoming! We flew in to see the Seahawks play the Chiefs and stayed the night before the game. They were so helpful and sweet. Our room was cozy and the mansion looked amazing! Loved all the holiday decorations!! Breakfast was delicious and all the attention to detail throughout our stay was impressive. Jim even gave us a "back route" to the stadium. We will definitely come back to visit. I recommend this B and B to couples, families or friends looking for an adorable get away.

At Christmas so festive with warm decor. Breakfasts were classy, delicious, and filling. Relaxing. Westminster room was noisy with air system. Bed comfy. Worth the price if you are looking for pamper!

Jim and Wendy were superb hosts. The mansion was amazing as was the breakfasts! They were very sociable and helpful in directing us to local attractions. Well worth the price and we will be back again.

The innkeepers were very pleasant. We were there for a baseball game, very close to the stadium and the innkeepers had a map with directions ready. They offer snacks and drinks on the second floor, open at any time. The breakfast was set up when you are ready in the morning, it was wonderful.

Best breakfast I've ever had. The potatoes are fabulous. A friendly, nice, clean and beautiful place to stay. We try to make it here at least once a year. Love love love this bed and breakfast!!

Jim and Wendy are very sweet people. They gave us a key to the house and room. Told us we can come and go as we please. Private breakfast in the morning....I recommend the breakfast. Very quiet place

Attended a wedding hosted on the grounds. The facility is well kept and very clean with a classy farmhouse decor. Staff are delightful and helpful. Surprisingly quiet for being in the middle of a suburban neighborhood, feels very private.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway to Kansas City and our experience exceeded expectations on every level! Our rooms were quiet and cozy, the BB is 10-15 minutes from all of our KC hot spots (the Roasterie, Westport bars and restaurants, the Power and Light district, the Plaza, breweries, etc), and our breakfasts were outstanding every morning! We actually cancelled a free reservation we had at a hotel to stay at Hawthorn an extra night. We woke up feeling refreshed and recharged for another day in Kansas City each morning and came home to a cozy, private room each night. If you're looking for a weekend getaway, somewhere to spend the holidays with family, or a perfect night's sleep...you've found your place! We can't wait to come back for another stay.

Most amazing private dining experience to date. The lovely historic Hawthorn is a trip back in time in the 1900 stone mansion. Perfect for private dining events, bed and breakfast or wedding venue!

We have Christmas dinner here every year. The people who run it are amazing. The food is amazing. I can't say anything bad it's always been great.

My mother in law has her cookie exchange party here every year and it's always beautiful. The meal is always great as well.
