Small town diner with homemade sandwiches, cheesecake, and apple pie. Good if you are looking for something quick and simple. Great location being right on Independence Square. Nice area for strolling after you get done eating.

Great food, affordable prices, fast and friendly service, clean and cute environment, great location with plenty of parking. I haven't tried everything yet but for lunch I like the grilled salmon sandwich and the chicken salad croissant. They make a real good burger here. They're breakfast is great too. This is my favorite place!

During a stop-over in Independence MO to see the Harry Truman home ... we meandered around the town square area to find a bite to eat. Based on ratings and looking for a relaxed setting ... we decided to try Dave's. It was a 100% correct decision. The food (cheeseburger and salmon sandwich with fries and fried pickles) was excellent and prepared "just right". For a relatively small casual restaurant ... they have an incredible variety of entrées and delicious-looking bakery items.

The owners and their team were very kind and helpful... and efficient! They treated us like "VIPs" even though it was getting close to closing time.

Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend Dave's for a meal anytime of the day ... or just for a brief tasty pastry. A true slice of "Americana".

Quick great bites that satisfy. Try your breakfast sandwich on a bagel when you come (so good). Super affordable with great bakery items.

A co-worker (Deziree) suggested I try this restaurant one-day, I tried it today. OMG...I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. I had ketchup, mustard, lettuce, pickles and grilled onions on it. I tasted each item on every bite. What a great sandwich. Stay tuned I'm going back.

I love this local bakery & deli. Their hidden gem is the pork tenderloin sandwich! All the sandwich breads are made there. The bakery items are fresh daily - great donuts & pies.

This is one of my go to lunch spots. Hands down better than fast food at the same price or less. Always fresh

Wow! This was a surprise treasure found while waiting for my dog's surgery to be over... delicious breakfast and the pastry was so good, I got a dozen and took them back to the animal hospital!

Dave's is a great family owned deli. They have lots of options at very affordable prices. Their bacon double cheeseburger is fantastic, and their buns are made in house. Also, a delicious Reuben. One of my faves for lunch.

My teen granddaughter and I look forward to going to Dave s Deli and Bakery for breakfast. Staff is very friendly, establishment is clean and the food is good and priced reasonable. My granddaughter loves the iced coffee and biscuits and gravy. We both love the breakfast sandwiches. My granddaughter buys a sack of cookies everytime we leave to take to school and she says they are very delicious. It s our go to place. It s also quiet so you can have a conversation in a quiet space. We are regulars and will continue to be.

Delicious cinnamon rolls! Friendly staff. Super clean kitchen-I know because I looked. Great spot for breakfast, good prices. Easy parking, Just off the historic Independence Square.

Great place. We take our 92-year-old mom every week. She loves the blackberry or raspberry turnovers.

Their fries are the best!
They make their own bread and buns for sandwiches/burgers.
It's a hopping place, so be prepared to wait for food sometimes.

I love this place. First of all, the staff and owners are so friendly. I usually stop in there 2 or 3 times a day for something. Their peach turnovers are absolutely the best. Also the red velvet white chocolate chip cookies and fudge stuffed chocolate chip cookies are to die for. I had the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and it was freshly made and delicious. They also are the only place on the Square that I have found who sells energy drinks. Love this place.

Found this hidden gem when I started school at Graceland Univ. I come at least twice a week. Their sandwiches are amazing and Michelle that works the cash register is so sweet and friendly.

I highly recommend the Reuben. I always want to try other things but I can’t stay away from the Reuben. They sell their bread by the loaf-(24hours notice required). I just bought my first loaf of bread and I’m excited to share it with my family.

The food is always fresh, and the service is always great. If you come in frequently, they will learn your name and always greet you with a smile. I've never had a problem with their food, and everyone I've taken there always seems to enjoy it as well. I generally get either a chicken salad wrap, grilled chicken, or turkey sandwich. I've also tried the chicken strips and fries.
