This place is a major childhood memory for me. My grand parents used to take me here all the time and I absolutely love the donuts!
I went back after years and they were just as good as ever and I had an amazing conversation with the man and lady running it.
Now that I'm back in the area again, I would've loved to stop in. It's a shame to see that they're temporarily closed.

We miss and love you. We look forward to seeing you soon and God bless and be with you and cover your family. We will always be Poppy's faithful.

Best donuts in the Kansas City area hands down. I drive over an hour to get these delicious donuts. Never once had an issue with anyone working behind the counter being rude or unfriendly. I've been going to this establishment weekly for over 5 years now. Make sure to bring cash, they don't accept debit or credit due to the outrageous fees associated with processing credit cards.

Love this place. I went today and was sad they were closed but remembered they usually do a vacationing early August and close for a week or so. Love seeing small businesses and supporting them. The donuts are yummy too.

Poppy's is our family favorite, and always will be!! Some donut shops in the area tend to be too sweet for my taste, but Poppy's donuts are perfectly delicious each and every time. If you're in the Independence area and haven't tried them, you're missing out!!

I decided to stop in when I happened to be in the area. The clerk greeted me and told me what was available (some things were fresh in the back). I ordered a delicious apple turnover and a dark coffee. The donuts looked and smelled amazing. It was a very positive experience and I look forward to returning. Thanks to Poppy's, there is no reason to eat a donut from a corporate chain in this neighborhood!

I worked here for 7 years before moving away. My girls loved these donuts and still after 20+ plus years talks about how they loved them and the people that owned it. They were great people and they were great employers!! They would always do what they could for their employees and do whatever they could to help you. I miss them and their donuts!!!

Wonderful service and wonderful, donuts and pastries, but they are cash only! I can’t count the times I would’ve stopped in for donuts. Had they taken credit cards. Being a business owner myself I understand credit cards cost money to run, but they also increase business in a retail situation.

Long time local Classic. The crispy layer around the cake style donut and perfect frosting will make your mouth happy while the cost keeps your wallet happy. Make this your sweet spot in the morning.

Poppy's donuts have been a part of my life since I was a child and my parents would bring home me donuts on the weekends. I would stop on my way to high school to get a donut and a drink this giving up my lunch money! As a parent, I Introduced my child to the deliciousness of these donuts. One day, I hope to provide them to my grandchildren. It had been over a year since I had been able to get a donut due to the pandemic. I was more than happy to wait in the rain (under an awning) until my turn came to go inside and make my selection. These donuts are still everything my childhood memories are made of. Fresh, delicious and extremely pleasant service. The location is clean and they are taking every precaution for their customers for covid prevention.

Everyone here is so nice and the donuts are on another level! Light airy, chocolate is on point. The glazed croissants.... should be illegal to serve they are so good. Thanks for working so hard!

took my kids here today to try since I've been hearing great things about it and I couldn't be happier!!!! the owner helped me out during a tough time and left the best impression. what an amazing little place! we can't wait to come back! the donuts are amazing!

It's been over 10 years since, I been at Poppy Donuts Oh mine goodness I go back to some new kind of donuts, I try the one with 😋orange icing ,strawberry one also 😋

Used to skip school at william christman and eat the donut holes before heading to the library yearsssssss ago.

Now im older, i still love the glazed. But those chocolate sprinkles or no filling long johns are my favorite. Too many places douse donuts in chocolate. Right amount of chocolate here.

Local is best. I probably swing by here 3x a month. Cash only, i always use my weekly change build up or left over laundry money.

I have been going to this donut shop for the better part of 35 years. Love the lady the runs and owns it and she is always super nice. Doctor says i need to stay away but they are really the best donuts around. Worth the trip even for a dozen! Won't be disappointed. Aaton Gibbs

There donuts are extremely fresh the working are nice.. And they hooked me up multiple times!!! ONLY complaint... There chocolate milk was about to expire and made my stomach a little upset.. But great service frfr.

AMAZING DONUTS! You have to get there early sometimes, but considering they start cooking at like 330 am, that's understandable. I have never, ever had a bad donut from here. Cash only, but it's a small business. If you haven't been here before, you HAVE to check it out.
