I have not been into this location but did call the customer support line today and found the lady who worked with me extremely helpful! I purchased a new car in 2022 and had been having the hardest time renewing my tags despite having spent 10 hours at the downtown courthouse to get a waiver for 2022 taxes. They put the wrong years on the waiver so I wasn’t able to use it to renew the tags. I wish I caught the name of the gal who helped me but she corrected the paperwork and emailed it to me saving me an in person trip! So grateful for that!

Despite the fragmented process of getting your foot in the door and the suspenseful wait time, Elizabeth in station 5 was absolutely amazing. I was nervous but she took the time to educate me on property tax and answered my questions while providing a speedy service. A ray of hope amidst this stifling experience that is Jackson County. Thanks again

There’s a very wonderful human being that works there by the name of Regina Robertson. She was very kind and helpful to me today. She saved me a lot of time by helping me herself. Thank you so much for your wonderful attitude and helpful nature.

Went there for a tax waiver, checked in trough the Qless texting system at 8 and showed up when was almost my turn, after about 3 hours.
The process was soo smooth and the operator extremely kind an professional!

Wonderful service! Yes it is a wait, but there is a coffee shop right across the street, and the text message check in service sends an update on position in line when you text 'S'. I probably checked my place 20 times over the course of several hours so I didn't wait in the courthouse until I was about 7th in line. The people working here are kind and patient. My situation was a bit of a mess, and I fully expected the experience to be much worse, and boy was I wrong. I don't understand all the negative reviews to be honest. Just know that it is a wait, and don't try to show up an hour before closing. I checked in at about 12:30 and was in 1st place in line by about 3:30, the process then took maybe 20 minutes from there.

I had a pretty good experience, text the number they provide to obtain your place in line, and they will keep you updated. I texted at 8am and was seen just before 10. Pretty efficient.

Painful extremely painful, nothing like raising property taxes the same year your offering to lock in property taxes

Arrived way to early, but watched the app. And as soon as the doors opened to the court house I checked in. Waited about 15mins. Fast and convenient process. As long as you check in when you get there and have what you are suppose to have it goes very smoothly.

Using the Qless made it very convenient; book it early because there will be a wait. Since it’s not good at explaining itself, Texting M for more time moves you back “20 minutes” and you can only do that twice. I got in the Qless digital line at 12:50 (35th in line) while working and when I got there at 4:30 (1st in line after adding more time), and the line moves faster once you’re under 10th because people ask for more time. Everyone there that I talked to was very respectful and professional.

I cannot stress this enough....you need to prepare to wait. If you go in here expecting to get in and out in a flash, you're just going to get frustrated. Plan ahead and make a day out of it. If you use tye Qless app you can wait at home or enjoy the shops around the square.
Make sure you also have all the needed documents, you can call and they will tell you what you need to bring with you. The entire staff was nothing but friendly and very helpful. They made the experience less painful that I thought it would be. Just make sure you plan ahead and know that you will have to wait. With that in mind you will have a smooth and painless experience.

A beautiful building with free access to the public, however the reasons people come here are often not pleasant. The staff is understaffed but does the best they can with what they have. This building houses records, assessment, and collections. If you need anything involving courts such as restraining orders, you need to be at the other courthouse on Kansas Avenue.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Even though I was a little bit behind on my taxes they were very efficient and had me in and out of their office in 15 minutes. Have your documents and identification ready. Thank you for all you do.

Everyone there was so helpful. I don’t understand why people get so nasty to the employees there. It isn’t their fault if you owe taxes. I owed a lot of taxes because my husband took care of our finances but he passed away unexpectedly. I went to the tax office and everyone there helped me.

The Qless text line is the best way to get stuff done here and the DMV. The link is on the Jackson county assessor website and once it tells you to come inside the process is pretty easy for getting a statement of non-assessment.
