Larry Mattonen Memorial Trail

Walking this trail for decades. Especially nice in the fall and spring. A jewel in Jackson County, Missouri. Makes one happy to be from this area.
Gravel all the way and wildlife everywhere.
For one who grew up in the woods, it's an easy, easy walk for this old man (63).

Another nice trail in the Jacomo network. This trail is mostly paved/gravelled, making it an easier walk. It leads right down to the lake in a straight line, which gives some nice views. Lots of smaller unpaved trails connected to it as well.

What a fun walk in the woods. Not sure if the wife and I walked all the way around but the loop we did was 48 minutes. Great walk outdoors.
Correction after looking at the map we did only walk the Southloop.

This was an amazing trail! I'm used yo running in the high desert western part of the Rockies. This was quite a change in scenery and sound.

I really enjoy the Larry Mattonen trail. There's a short loop to the right, a longer loop to the left, and for a real good walk go around the whole thing. Great for dogs (just clean up after them). No restrooms or running water at all so go prepared. Very pretty in the fall with the rustling of leaves & beautiful fall colors. It's mostly gravel & level with only a few short uphill spots.

Nice little trail. Good for novice hikers if you stay on the gravel. It is such a shame that the most beautiful part of the trails with a great view of the lake that connects the south Mattonen trails to the north Liggett and Lake Vista trails where shut down because of the constant nagging of Missouri Town 1855. Missouri Town 1855 are petty and selfish people. Somehow they feel they own everything from The rotary camp all the way to sailboat cove.

Great trail with easy access for all. It's also wide and is fairly well-maintained.

A nice trail for biking of walking/jogging.

Love this trail! Just want to give you a reminder tho to watch your footing as you hike. We encountered our SECOND copperhead snake on the trail yesterday. Both times snake remained motionless and resembled a stick. Thankfully the dog didn’t even see it. Enjoy your time in nature but respect that we share it with beautiful creatures and exercise caution.

Great trail for families, very easy for kids

A little bit of mud in some spots. Ya have to watch out for washouts in the gravel when using the trails. Overall great outdoors trail to exercise on. Love Jackson county parks!!

Gravel path, lots of trees, very quiet. Total distance around path is 2.6 miles around from car parking back to parking area. There is a gravel path that goes down the center of the circle as a short cut back to the parking area.

Great trail. The large gravel trail is little hard on dogs feet. But a good place to get away.

Peaceful and solitary winter walking with moderate twists, turns, and inclines. Feels secluded here, and a short trek off-trail will lead you to a pretty lake cove.

Fun hiking trails off the main walking path. Not too challenging but a solid hike for Eastern Jackson CO.

Great hiking area but if you go on the dirt trails they are not well maintained. Watch out for copperhead snakes in this area.

Great place to escape city noises. Walk or ride a bike around the trail. Enjoy nature and fresh air.

Beautiful trails,clean, you can see Lake Jacomo through the trees,well kept up!

Very well maintained and wide trail. Great for jogging or walking.
